Option to output voice comms to separate device

I output my main audio to a 5.1 setup (play in the living room infront of the tv) and use a GN2000 headset and mic for group chat.

This is fine if I use the steam client for my chat, which is what I do, as well as easy to join in a private group, it has good noise cancellation.

If I use the voice comms in ED, the voices all come out through the main speakers, which is no good.

Be nice if I could specify a different audio device output for the voice comms.

Yes! I second this post. The game needs more audio settings. Most PCs have an onboard sound device, but these days most headsets with microphones are USB devices which are their own audio device. ED currently has no option to select a different device for voice comms. It's definitely needed.

I would love to see the above suggestions implemented in due course. As i agree with both comments regarding USB headsets and USB soundcards , etc.

Yes!

Actually what the game needs to do is respect the windows settings for default communication device.. This is why steam chat works via my headset even though my game sound is from my speakers. Please please implement this frontier!

After now having tried Wings I have to add my support to this. As it stands I do not use the inbuilt comms as it plays through my surround system rather than my comms headset.
This makes the whole thing very strange.

So Teamspeak/Skype will have to make due for now even if it lacks the inbuilt adaptation to gameplay the in-game voice comms has.

Using the Windows setting for default communications device would solve this.

Yes please, this would be great to have, I love the in-game voice-comms effect but having it go through the main audio device is a bit of a nuissance to say the least.

I have a pair of headbones (bone conductive headphones) which I can wear without obstructing my ears - in other words I can have comms via those (potentially) whilst still enjoying proper 5.1 surround from the game :)

s'why i'd love this feature!

Yes, this irritates me too... I have cinema set-up and wireless headset. The headset is useless currently. Please FD, sort out the comms. :)

Yes Frontier, please listen to this request...
You are lost several players who prefer to use softwares like TS instead of ingame option (with is much more immersive with animation shown who is speaking, etc) just because they have a surround sound system and a separated USB or Bluetooth headset (like me) and it is very annoying to listen the wingmans from the main speakers.

Please, automatic direct voice output to default communication device, if available. Please, please...
