Out of Fuel? - Explorer Rescue Service, The Fuel Rats

I'll départ buckyball style tomorrow :(

EDIT : Timezone ? Server localisation ? I don't know what you're talking about. I've got Fuel and I'm coming for you, no questions.

On a separate note, are you a writer? Or are you speaking in the dialect of a borderland system? :D

I'm your mama, I'm your daddy,
I'm that rat in the alley.
I'm your mechanic when in need.
Want some fuel? Take a seat.
You know me, I'm your friend,
Your main boy, thick and thin.
I'm your fuelrat, man.

(I speak very little, but I do like to wing it while writing.)

It is my sad duty to report that my PC is dead. Following a small explosion yesterday (almost certainly deep within the bowels of its small form factor power supply) it is now little more than an over-engineered doorstop.

As I've reported over in the Buckyball Kessel Run thread ... I'll be back.

In the meantime keep on being awesome rats.

Later \o

Just a quick thank you in verse....

An Ode to the Fuel Rats

That is a mighty gift!! Verse!!! :D

The good news is that it's usually much easier to go from a small case to a larger one, the components being the same. So you can probably pick up a case with a new power supply and then it's a matter of transferring the parts.

I say that like it's easy, but I've got pieces of computer all over my dining room table and they have been there for 9 months - gaming system build-in-progress had a minor hitch.

We have a client 25 kylies from Sol on the vague direction of Sagittarius A*.

***Update 1***

And we have a trio on way! Legend.

(wordless cheer)

Seriously, you guys are so cool.

Hardly compares to what is going on right now but I would have posted this here yesterday but, well you know problems.

Not sure if it counts as an Epic but it was exhausting.

Dispatch put out the call for anyone in Beta 1.5 to help out a client. It seems I was the only Rat in Beta 1.5 at the time so I volunteered. At the time I was trying out the Asp Scout and the follow on missions, once I had landed and abandoned the mission I discovered that the outpost I was at had no controllers, no worries as I was close to Shirarta. As I jumped into Shinrarta I decided to swap over to the Asp Explorer I had there, already Rat ready.

A 10 jump hop out to HIP 8288 followed with no problems. Dropping into the clients instance I was a little concerned how long he took to appear, but he did so worry over. I was, in a strange way, happy to see it was a T9 Heavy, my first. I had 12 limpets and fired them all. Looking at Galmap HIP 8396 was closest to us but we had no info on it. Wirigans was only 1 jump over for me and it had a coriolis station so I went there, it was 4 or 5 jumps for me but too far for a T9 with only 12 tons of fuel. So I took 16 next time to COL 285 SECTOR XV-K B9-2. Still not enough. I left Wirigans again but with 18 limpets this time and dropped in COL 285 SECTOR CG-X D1-33. Only 1 more trip was needed and that was another 18 limpets to COL 285 LN-S C4-14. In all it took around 2 hours and 64 limpets.

The same client called me a few hours later stuck in HIP 8396, still in a T9. Not so dramatic this time as it has a outpost, only took a couple of trips. I did not record this but count it as part of the above rescue.

Latest long range scanner image of the on-going Sagittarius A* rescue ...

Note: due to an explosion in the long range scanning room earlier in the week my communications have been somewhat patchy so I apologise if some of the details shown in this scan are not entirely accurate.

That image makes me wonder if Kerenn will be utilising the FSD boost in the Horizons crafting update to become "Kerenn 1 jump" or even "Kerenn already refuelling client"?? :D

Nice pic, I always love these long range rescues :D

Ok, done what I could with this:

Vid isn't that bad to be fair, sure it's not the ideal first rescue but the results are in objective format below:
Client Alive = True
Client refuelled = True
Rat Alive = True

Base objectives achieved, mission parameters = success!!

Who cares if it took a little longer, still better than dying and probably a perfect (yet a little steep) learning experience for said rat :)
Would rather have 10 of these each day with new people learning how to rat than one awesome person saving everyone then leaving with all the expertise. Obviously as always the priority is saving the clients but if it takes 20 minutes instead of 5 then I say no-harm done.

It's actually stealth geek because I'm sure very few people know what it is, even with the Elite Dangerous pin I wear on the side of mine over my name!

I can imagine now at some point someone will recognise it on the street and be like "You guys saved my ship, you are awesome..." Well we can dream right? I will certainly stop and talk to anyone I see with one :)
