Out of Fuel? - Explorer Rescue Service, The Fuel Rats

Now, apologies if I'm missing something but, if the player in need let us know their system here in the forums, isn't better so all of us can check how far we are?

Even if someone with bad intentions show up, they cant drop to the exact location of stranded pilot without a beacon!!

They did say "Currently stranded just outside 'the bubble' about 20ly from Walla." - which is enough to tell your rough distance and see if getting there in a reasonable time frame is possible.

Awesome news!!! Second call!! Yay!!!

I just think that it hurts more than it helps to keep it secret when we could be simultaneously checking distance instead of worrying for a long shot circumstance.

Simply posting a system within 15-20 light-years (like superflyguy did) should be enough to check distances and feel safe. Besides, we're all explorers, right? Distance is what we do. :)

We'll, I'm parked at Walla and waiting offline. First time I saw one of those shipyard-like outposts with five pads. Always something to discover...

1) Are the stranded safe from the rescue service if we are wanted?
2) If we are power aligned, are we safe from political assassination?
3) You have a rival rescue service. If both turned up same time, will you duel before fuel? :D

Yes. Maritime law and all that. Celestial law? Astronomical law?

Space Lawyer Mode Activate!!!

Under the terms of the United Galactic Convention on Laws of Space (“UGCLOS”) Article 98 states:
Every state shall require the master of a ship flying its flag, in so far as he/she can do so without serious danger to the ship, the crew or the passengers:
a. To render assistance to any person found in space in danger of being lost;
b. To proceed with all possible speed to the rescue of persons in distress, if informed of their need of assistance, in so far as such action may reasonably be expected of them;
c. After a collision, to render assistance to the other ship, its crew and its passengers and, where possible, to inform the other ship of the name of his/her own ship, its port of registry and the nearest port at which it will call.

Even in a State Of War the Convention is to be followed.
However under those circumstances:
Military Law, Chapter 43, Rule 6 "Practice Relating To Loss of Protection From Attack"
Section 1:
Taking a direct part in hostilities covers acts of war intended by their nature and purpose to strike at enemy personnel and material. Thus civilians taking part in fighting, whether singly or as a member of a group, loses the immunity given to civilians.
Persons acting as a guard for military activity, as a member of a weapon crew, or as a crewperson on a military vessel in combat. Civilians who collect intelligence information, or otherwise act as part of the enemy’s military intelligence network, are lawful objects of attack. Members of a civilian observer corps who report the approach of hostile craft would also be taking a direct part in hostilities. Note, however, that care of the wounded, and the rescue of persons stranded in space or shipwrecked, are protected activities under Galactic Law.

:p :p :p :p :p

That's great 'cause I gotta hand off the task now - silly victim of time zone confusion that I am. :) Take care of the lost lamb!
