Three things:
First: after some further discussion with Aitken, our two most likely clients are: pewpews who didnt check their gauge before they jumped, and new players, as evidenced by our Xbox1 visitor.
In the case of the new players, we are going to need to explain 90% of the process to them, so practicing wings, following and dropping beacons from both sides is recommended.
Second: One of the reasons Im advocating the IRC channel is because its so universal, it can be run on a smart phone, we can push a message to IRC and I know that I saw somewhere on the forums, a group running an IRC chat in game via an "always on top" floating window. We could theoretically keep the rat comms open without alt tabbing.
Third: I fully endorse Badgers idea to monetize the rats to maintain server costs and to get cool gear.
