Out of Fuel? - Explorer Rescue Service, The Fuel Rats

ORJI: If your exploring AND refueling then you need (your exploration ship + a fuel transfer limpet controller, limpets, & cargo room to hold them.

Also, the most important advise I received regarding Fuel Rat setup is that the Fuel Transferer(er) thing doesn't need to be fancy. As a matter of fact -- if you're an explorer ship like me and want to be ready while in deep space -- a D 1 is only a measley 0.5T added weight to the ship and does everything you need it to do.

So, just for your information (in case anyone wondered why i am out of the ratpack):

Surly_Badger kicked me out after the incident for me refusing to unblock the code ingame.
(meaning i refuse to be of service to them ever again.)

*message ends*

I did not kick you out. I suggested that if you wanted to hold a grudge, maybe you should quit. You'll note that you're still on the leaderboard and, when you said you were quitting I took you off the roster for a while but added you back at the good suggestion of another CMDR.

In private chat with you I repeatedly pointed out that it was my opinion that taking what was happening personally, and getting angry/holding a grudge was a bad idea. I still feel that way. I feel that's a general guideline for life, since getting angry at someone else grants them power over you, not the other way around; it gives them more control over your life than they probably deserve. I suppose you could say I agree with Yoda: anger leads to The Dark Side.

If you interpret what happened as "Surly Badger kicked me out" then we do not have the same interpretation of events.

As far as I am concerned, you're still welcome to Fuel Rat, though I really really really don't like the idea of blacklisting anyone - and have said so repeatedly - and I'd rather not have someone going around waving a blacklist and representing the Fuel Rats in those terms, any more than I want to see someone representing the Fuel Rats while hunting down and revenge-killing other players. If one of us starts doing something like that, it makes all of us look bad. Edit: making us all look bad opens us all up to reprisals and an endless cycle of looking worse.

With the refuel complete, Fionn informed us that he had less than a minute of oxygen remaining. 49 seconds in fact!

I think that's the new record for "tight save"!!! The old record was 1 minute 20 sec of air left.

You guys are going to make my few remaining grey hairs fall out from all the stress!!! And I've already bitten off what passes for my fingernails. O! The Tension!

Glorious rescue, CMDRs! I salute you!

As you may remember I questioned a similar point earlier but having read your last post I have to say your arguement has pretty much won me over. Congratulations on raising my opinion of the internet :)

There is one further question I would ask without intending to make arguement is about the idea of ransom payments, I also accept if this is something that you do not want to answer in a public medium so if there is no answer I'll not ask again :p
On the one hand there is loyalty to the cause and paying ransoms "may" secure a rats release.
On the other if it is widely known that no ransoms are ever paid by the fuel rats it should negate all roleplaying pirate attacks although will lead to insurance screens should an unaware pirate attempt demands.

Edit: On a side note I'd become a fuel rat too and build myself a rat ship but having been on the receiving end recently it looks like you are almost over-subscribed. Hit me up if people ever start to drop out. And amazing work by all, 7000Ly, not a problem CMDR, we'll be there in a jiffy ;)

So, i think we misinterpreted each other. I got you as "if you dont refuel a code because you have him in the comms blacklist you better go and never come back". So i did.
And i never wanted to wave with that blacklist, its just convenient that i notice one that did some moves in the past when trying to talk and it doesent work.
As well as not getting bothered by so called "pirates". so i will quietly state that i cant see "this customer" (and not why) so would some else please chime in.

If that is OK with You i will gladly be back in service.

(And i dont hold a grudge, i simply dont want to bother with people that are not reasonable enough to notice that their kind of PVP is not wanted.)

I am honored to fly with you!

I apologize if I wasn't clear in the chat. The experience of our private discussion helped me greatly to clarify my philosophy of "even though we are anarchic, we are a collective and the actions of each individual reflect on the collective" So I thank you for that.

I think that if such things come up in the future it's covered under the "let the CMDRs that are dealing with it decide what they think is right at the time"

For example, if pirates hold you ransom and demand snickers bars, I'll probably go as high as two, or maybe a small cheese pizza. I.e.: that's how I role-play. I don't think that how I role-play should govern how you role-play and if you're dealing with a ransom situation, it's your call at the time.

That said, I'd like to encourage everyone to remember that while we're anarchic, we're a collective, and though we are not led and don't have rules, as a collective our individual actions reflect on all of us. Therefore I strive to be honorable (and slightly weird) because I believe that's Glorious!

And just because this all feels too serious:

(What's cuter than one badger? A bucket of baby badgers!)

And I'll just share this comment from a CMDR Honcho that the Rat Pack just rescued, made in #RatChat:
<CMDRA_Honcho> I am really really impressed
<CMDRA_Honcho> Just wish my local car breakdown cover was this good!

ok, that's Glorious!

I'm so glad I don't have to fill the Paperwork on this one.

If you squint real good you can see the limpet entering it's Cargo Hatch.
It Happened in INDRUNDJARA. Many Thanks to RalfGabriel and Imperator, too, who were eager to knock this one !

I don't usually do Double Posts, but this one deserve it's own :

I am very sorry to announce to you that we incurred a loss today.

As soon as Honcho was saved, a brave explorer called us because he ran out of fuel between stars. He was 500LY away so I thought it would be an easy task.
Loetmichel and RalfGabriel joined in on the race and fun was had by all parties involved. RalfGabriel appeared immediately before me in the system and we both proceeded to look for a wing beacon. When the Rescuee had only 8 minutes of air we found out he was 81 kLs away.
Damn, that's a run. During the run our customer had to disable-enable beacon multiple times because we had glitches where we did not see the beacon.
RalfGabriel started on the other side of the sun from me, near-er to the beacon but with reckless supercruising I was on top of the beacon first.
I jump in... Nothing. I jump out, in, out, in... Four times in a row I don't see nothing. Comms tell me our customer saw me, so it must be instancing issues.
And then, as I was about to enter for a fifth time, No beacon. I watch up, to the Wing icons, and see one is greyed out.

"Destroyed".

Sorry to hear of the loss, especially after our 'right side of a close call' rescue earlier :(

I can't afford anything at the moment but absolutely love the mugs :D Nice work; the logo really is perfect.

We engaged in a three-man Rat Race today, but only one woman could win.

Commander Cowbelle~

CMDR Mathias Shallowgrave was stranded at PISCIUM SECTOR MC-V B2-6 and it was a race between me, Camper and Imperator, who came in at a close third. Of course, we have pictures of Camper and Imperator saying hello to our client:

may be worth a look, would hate to think of us missing out on the chance of something

Good catch! I sent him a note with our specifics. I also posted in the thread (because: marketing!) as follows:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=162808&p=2484744&viewfull=1#post2484744

One thing he asks is "how many members?" I hadn't counted, to be honest, until now. There are around 90 Fuel Rats! We are huge!

Edit: With regard to leader/spokesperson I said:
"We are an anarchic collective and have no leader/spokesperson per se. I gave the group its name and have been doing some coordinating and did the web site so if you have questions I can answer them, but if decisions need to be made I'll ask the group and relay our general feelings."

Ninja'd by Kerenn!! Good! Chaos!

Apparently we also had our first Xbox save, by Xanisselis in SCORPII SECTOR UZ-P A5-6... and I managed to overlook that; it's now on the leaderboard.

And CMDR Cowbelle has set up a Reddit subreddit related to the Fuel Rats.
