I've no complaints about special cash paintjobs but at least basic flat colour paintjobs should be free/buyable with credits. It's kinda feast or famine right now.

I would pay a LOT of in game credits to be able to do a custom paint job on my ship, no matter which one it was. Would be a great way to drain off credits from players!

I don't think player created skins are going to happen. It's likely that all of the existing skins are actually downloaded into each client to save bandwidth. Instead of sending the texture of every ship across the P2P network for all the clients, it just sends out "Cobra with Skin A6" or "Viper with Skin 1B". Much less data to send that way freeing up bandwidth that would otherwise bog down slower connections.

Yep. In Alliance space I fly an orange rattler Cobra (until they come up with an Alliance navy then I switch it to Polar Camo) In Federation space my navy spec Cobra is Urban Camo.

still wondering whre the merc skins are. i only have gotten a decal :-(

what ship are you flying it's not available on all the ships.

I have a few skins, the black Friday cobra ones, mercenary, gold & union jack for viper, and the red ignition for the eagle. It's just a shame you cant see them outside of outfitting.

Union jack Viper is ace but I'd love FD to add these instead:

They would look cool on the wings of the Eagle or the sides of the Viper/Cobra

I find their decisions regarding skins a bit strange. Pre-set skins are nice, but I expected something like what you would see in a racing game - preset colors and patterns which you can apply/move around/resize to roll your own custom design. They can even charge for each individual paint or pattern. These patterns would be on the clients, so for p2p traffic considerations, instead of saying Player1 has skin A, it says player1 has skin {vector of numbers}. Numbers being for each pattern, Id, posX, posY, scaleX, scaleY, rotation, and RGBA I guess.

The only problem I could think of is players painting their ships in "space camo", like pitch black to make acquiring visuals slightly more difficult, but that makes it more interesting, no? Military planes and ships are painted that way because it's the camo color for where they operate.

I didn't buy any skins because none of them catch my eye in particular, and they don't fit the pilot(s) I'm RP-ing. If they would just let us roll/mix and match our own... Still, you can't see them anywhere yourself other than during outfitting, and that's a big problem IMO.

I bought paint jobs for everything available except the hauler. I knew I'd never see them, just wanted to support the game. My posting history might not show it, but I'm delighted with FD and its product. I didn't think we'd ever get the original game back.

I have seen heaps of people wanting guilds or groups to be added to Elite dangerous and if they put that in maybe have the guild/group have a emblem, so if your in guild/ group your ship is marked with that emblem.

I'm definitely in favour of this. To alleviate moderation costs, just charge £10 per moderation. If your decal passes, it's available to your squad members. If it fails, it is binned and you have to pay another £10 if you want to have another try. I can imagine this being very popular with FD staff!

Well,,,,,,,,,,,

How about Frontier being open to user suggested paint jobs? I bet we have some EXTREMELY talented players who could make and send "paint jobs" to the DEV's which could be sold by Frontier and the person whose design is chosen by Frontier could get some sweet in-game credits.

or in game "royalties" from every paint job that is sold....

This is a cool idea that might scratch that itch for the more creative players, without hurting Frontier's add-on income. Perhaps they could release a "Paint Booth" add-on that payers could purchase. Artist's could then submit their work, and like the current packs, Frontier could chose a dozen or so to be released in a monthly "Elite Artist" pack. I'd be all over that setup.

Abuse? X-Plane has many thousands of paints for aircraft moderated and downloaded on several forums. They don't seem to have any issues with it in MMO fly-ins.

galnet news reports in cockpit?

I was thinking. Exploring takes a while I was wondering the devs ever considered allowing you to download the galnet news reports at a station and read at your leasure from your ship later either as a holographic display on your front screen so I can fly at the same time or via a computer text to speak voice?

Thanks for any thought's

No acces to Elite: Dangerous after purchaseing paintjobs

I've bought some paintjobs for my Viper and Cobra and since then I can't login to the game launcher, the game also disappeared from the "M downloadable products" page.
The order was succesfully terminated and has the Completed status.
