Particle Effects

For those who did not understand what I said above, here a video (about the "Unreal Engine", a competing engine) explaining better my point, with some "particles templates" in the "content exemples" :

I hope Frontier will make this into Planet Coaster. I also hope the smoke has some physics. For example: A Dive coaster train drives trough the smoke and the smoke blows away. Something like this: (time = 2:40)

Not sure if this would be a seperate discussion, but as they are technically particle effects (?) - Fireworks. Would those make a comeback in terms of creating firework and laser shows for guests at night. Or even using fireworks as an on-ride effect?

Of course, firework effects, particle effects are VERY important. There was a forum called vPyro that was only about that. A whole community who dedicated only with this stuff, so VERY important.!

Hummm, yeah ! It's the same "concept" behind yes. [happy]

The "mixmaster" was a sort of "programmable box" (on a timeline) allowing to control the frequency of shooting the other "linked" objects on the grounds (few particle trigger, but for only one effect)

The "particle box" I'm talking about here allow to do the same thing but with all effects inside, and if you want to generate a new effect, you need to put a new "box" in the ground, which is better for the conception of any darkride, BUT if they add a "MixMaster" (the same as RCT3 : a programmable box with a timeline) to control these boxes, and some "fireworks" prefabs effects in the "particle box" I'm talking about, well ... it's a "MixMaster V2.0" in fact : the particle emitter system (for darkrides effects) + the "improved" show system (allowing to make shows using fireworks, but also ... everything else like smoke, explosion, laser, or even water effects)

It's a lot of work, but worth it I guess since this could be one of the most powerful tool of the game, just like the "modular building tool" and the "terrain sculpting tool" in term of freedom of creation.

Later on I am hoping we will have (bearing in mind they said they only got them working yesterday and we have two weeks for them to be working on them prior to phase 2 release);

  • Scalable particle boxes (the box itself so we can hide them easier for instance)
  • Adjustable Particle emitter Strength (slide bar adjuster)
  • Timed sequences (examples; every 5 seconds, every 10 seconds, continuous etc)

Others I am sure could be worked on but not essential (at least not at this time)
- Additional Fountain Styles
- Laser Lights (multiple styles)
- Adjustable colours where applicable (for instance would like to be able to do single coloured confetti for a specific theme/lighting style or if/when the laser lights are added)
- Triggered (such as coaster cart going past or guest interaction, i.e. for instance like the pirate with confetti a child could put a coin in slot machine and it would blow them out then)

I am sure there are more options could be thought of but these are the ones I feel most suit options and what can be done both for the game and by the devs.

Adam

Agreed! The ability to sync it with the coaster/misc trains as they pass would be cool!
With the coin slot idea that sounds good too, I wonder if it could be linked by typing in a code on the sfx, then another on the coin slot feature to sync them up!

Do you think we can decide how powerfull these boxes are?
Maybe that we can make everything a bit softer? (That flame effect thogh)
I don't know, I hope so [yesnod]
It's maybe already the case, maybe not.

But anyway, if not, it's still a "step in this direction", and it's great for us for the future. [big grin]

I'm hoping for Mist![big grin]

+1 for Mist.

Thats the only VFX i was really hoping for. Oblivion atAlton Towers and Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park both use Mist, i can imagine there is plenty of other coasters around the world that use Mist too.

Also I would like to see more of a white smoke rather than the dark grey smoke they showed in the livestream.

Yes very nice. I like building mine train coasters in RCT3, so hoping to do better if we get some of those effects.
It would be fun to have something similar to the particle boxes to show Hologram images of Ghosts, Pirates, Aliens, Zombies. Not sure if it could be done but it would be great to use when creating dark rides.
