PAX - Pioneers and Xplorers (a faction for Colonia)

Greetings Commanders!

Ambassador Abacus speaking.

<RP OFF>
Some of you may have noticed the Colonia-Expansion-Initiative:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...ive-Sign-up!?p=4835954&viewfull=1#post4835954

The German-speaking community wants to support the new colony region with a common faction called PAX - Pioneers and Xplorers

Although the discussions started on the German fan-forum elitedangerous.de
we want to share news, stories and events with the whole international community and invite every Commander to join our effort there.

What is PAX about?
Well...frankly spoken...we don't know yet as we are right at the beginning and we don't know how much saying we will have in writing history there. Many who signed up for CEI are members of other groups, some were freelancers so far. But every Commander who supports the colonization efforts shares the same feelings of cooperation and pioneering.

I will act as official contact but this is about working together towards a common goal. To make the new colony region a thriving and viable place.

To bring you into the right mood for the long journey my fellow CMDR Largo Ormand from the EoT wrote this introduction that I gladly translated for all of you to enjoy:

Edit - if you understand German there are more stories here => https://www.elitedangerous.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=290537#p290537

Jaques station 4:30 pm local time
The lights of the surrounding stars brought an unstable light into his bureau. So many stars, so near. You could feel that you were near the galactic core. Unconsciously you were aware of the enormous size of the supermassive black hole that marked the center not so far away. The sky looked different compared to the sight at home.
At home?
When did he start this journey?
That was months ago. Back then there was a great explorer meeting of the EoT that was finished with a big celebration.
And that was only the beginning of his voyage.
He turned away from the window and looked around the small but comfortable room. Shadows danced across the walls. Due to the regular rotation of the station the lighting changed all the time as the main star could be seen in a part of the window quite often.
He smiled briefly.
Others would pay a lot of money to enjoy this cabine at the outside. But you have to get used to this sight first. And yet he could considers himself lucky to be able to enjoy this luxury. There were only a few prerequisites. In his case it was being a provost of the Pioners and Xplorers.
The holographic chronometer at the opposite wall showed him it was nearly 5 pm.

It was about time for him.
He removed the dark blue robe from the wardrobe and took the staff given to him as a councillor.

On the way to the big hall he straightened his robe again and and observed the docking station from the glass vaulted corridor. A lot ot traffic wasn't there to see, yet. Some individual miners and several explorer ships were there. But this was about to change soon. Some were already here and more were on their way. And a lot more would follow.

The gate to the great hall was guarded by two tall special forces if the Colonia Militia Forces. This made him smile. They could be from the home bubble as well.
Both guards nodded to him and opened the gates.
Behind them there was a marvellous construction made from glass and blue shining silver. The architects here on Jaques station tried very hard to offer a dignified setting for the settlement of the colony.

A small man with thin hair took a bow in front of him and said:
'Ambassador Abacus! Welcome'
'Please follow me. I will guide you to your seat'

He nodded briefly and followed him into the hall. One half was filled already.

His place was pretty far to the front. This was due to the support of the Explorer on Tour towards teh Colonia Citizen Network.

More delegates of different groups entered the room and were guided to their seats. Then it began and a represantative of the Colonia Council walked to the front, entered the stage and look around.
'Valued ambassadors of humanity!'
'This is a new age where humanity wants to build a new home! Many groups with most diverse views came together to dedicate themselves to this extraordinary place.'
He looked around briefly then he continued:
'We will allow each and every one to present his group. In the old way we will call the represantatives in alphabetic order to a avoid giving anyone a special treatment.'
A brief pause followed where the represantatives exchanged some stealthy sights.

'As first one I call:
Abacus, Ambassador of PAX - Pioneers and Xplorers!
Member of the UGC, represantative of the EoT, home system Wapiya'

Abacus took a deep breath and walked with measured steps towards the speaker's desk. Then he gave a brief signal to the technical specialist besides the stage.
He had given him a file with important picture documents before to underline his statements.
Behind the desk he took his time to observe the crowd on the terraces of the hall. Their faces looked quite friendly and curious. No wonder considering this undertaking of unprecedented scale. The settlement of a colony far away from previous civilisation.

He leaned forward a bit and spoke:
'Valued council of Colonia, valued represantatives of the groups!
A multitude of events from the old bubble brought us to a decision that will influence generations. Requests for help and further inquiries have reached the Explorer on Tour, the United German Commanders and more groups in our linguistic area. A lot of people need our help. If you allow I want to show you a short clip that was taken at a recent meeting of the EoT.'

He nodded towards the technician and then watched the screen behind him. The auditorium of Foden Orbital materialized. Largo Ormand was speaking on the stage:
'My honoured comrades, beloved friends!
We are standing at a turning point of our previous history. Some of you have already seen and interpreted the signs. There is unrest in sphere of influence of the super powers. Distrust, greed, envy lead to lies, grudge and - yes - violence nowadays. Some may favour this others want to escape this. The EoT and other groups have received more and more requests for help in the last weeks. In addition we received requests to move to the new colony. Here at Foden Orbital we find more and more stowaways from anarchy systems. People are on the move. They are looking for a new home. We will offer our help. And we are not alone. Other groups are willing to do their utmost. Settlers will join that want a new life in a new area. Therefore the observatory of Foden Orbital has asked for sending scientists to the colony. We will enable them a passage as well.

We need the best pilots and advocates for the new colony where a new civilisation of humanity emerges!
We need Pioneers and Explorers!'

With this Abacus turned to the crowd agaun and spoke:
'We - as maybe one of the new fractions at Colonia - want to give those people a safe live. We have promised one thing - peace!
Therefore I want to appeal to all of you to support PAX. Support the peace!'

He nodded again towards the technician and on the screen staion Bluford Orbital in LHS 3447 appeared. You could see a mighty Cutter leaving the rotating entry slot. In absolute black. Majestically she gained metre for metre and you saw more of this huge ship. You could literally feel the huge engines as the ship rolled a bit to the side and accelerated. Farther away from the station she jumped into hyperspace. The first jump of many.
With a flash of light the Cutter disapperared.
Another roar from inside the station and an Anaconda appeared in the slot. This ship turned to the same direction as the Cutter after leaving the station and...jumped.
The next ship entered the airlock.
And the next.
And many more...
All of them are on their way to Colonia.
All of them showed the emblem of PAX.

Abacus turned towards the crowd a last time:
'We do it!
For the PAX!
For the citizens!'

Station 'Brothers Vision', WAPIYA
Local time 6:25 pm

The monitor showed a recorded speech by the Ambassador Abacus, which he held during the recruitment calls.
"We - as maybe one of the new fractions at Colonia - want to give those people a safe live. We have promised one thing - peace!
Therefore I want to appeal to all of you to support PAX. Support the peace!"
The picture shown went to the outside view of a station where ships of all types set off on their way to the new colony.
One ship after the other started the frame shift drive and disappeared into the vastness of the universe ....

CMDR Luchslistig turned off the monitor and looked around in his cabin. The bags were packed, and his office was cleared out.
His antique furniture from his office was stored until his return, the Anaconda was ready for departure and was just loaded with the last utensils.
The hangar staff brought the provisions on board and the technicians were still carrying out the last checks.

After several years at the head of the UGC, CMDR Luchslistig left his home 'WAPIYA' to visit the colony and support the new faction there.
His heart was heavy because it was a farewell full of emotions. But he also knew it was a new beginning.
A new beginning for him, for the UGC, and also for the colony.

Luchslistig went to the station bar for a last beer and said goodbye to Kurt, the bartender,
ordered another 20 boxes "Wapiya Dark" for the trip and then headed for his ship.

He went to the UGC headquarters to announce his farewell, exchanged his coat and hat with the pilot suit and entered the Anaconda.
The first goal was the system 'LHS 3447' to load the 'Galactic Guides' needed in the colony.
Luchs had an extra 250t load-capacity built into the ship, so it is well worth it.
At the station 'Blueford Orbital' he was expected by commanders, who eagerly waited to supply the Anaconda with the goods.
The containers were loaded quickly and the abdomen of the Anaconda quickly filled.
'Thank you diligently ants!' He said to the helpers, and they wished him a good journey and a safe return.

Luchslistig programmed the course toward the colony, turned the nose of his ship into the right direction and accelerated.
'Go on then to new worlds and into a new adventure!', Luchs thought, as the countdown for the light jump started.

Jaques Station, lobby of the conference hall

He didn’t know any more how often he already stood at the water dispenser. During the last 2 and a half hours striding through the lobby it must have been several dozen times.
His walking-tour was interrupted by short stopovers at other groups of waiting citizens. Ambassadors and delegates of the participants of the Colonia Expansion Initiative had assembled here since early morning. THE day had finally come.
The end of an intense but strangely quiet time had come.
Ceaselessly ships of different communities arrived to deliver the goods demanded. Under strict secrecy the goods were unloaded and the Colonia Council did the record keeping.
Really nobody knew how the state of affairs was.
The suspense was nearly unbearable. Whispering and speculations everywhere.

Ambassador Abacus was aware of the discussions inside PaX. It was impossible to predict the outcome. Despite the uncertainty deliveries were made till the deadline with unfailing determination. Several Commanders achieved an incredible number of tons during the last weeks. He looked at the star embroidered PaX emblem in his hand and attached it to his blue-silver robe at he left side of his chest. Passing the water dispenser another time and Abacus nodded friendly towards the delegates of the French-speaking (another language from old earth still fostered by many communities) group Edge Fraternity with CMDR Duita Rider. They knew each other from the old civilization around earth and had discussed about CEI before.

Just turning around for another stride through the lobby a light chime of a bell sounded.
All conversations stopped.
Everyone’s gaze wandered towards the two big wings of the door leading into the main hall.
Those opened slowly and silently.
The crowd began to move. Nearly 400 delegates of the applying groups were here personally, the others waited in front of holo screens at home for the results.
‘My, my!’ thought Abacus and smiled. ‘There are the delegates of the groups rushing forward like little boys to a football game. All the while trying to emanate some dignity with the look on their faces.’
He didn’t fare any better though. Longing to get inside the hall to finally see the results.
He knew there were dozens of PaX-supporting ships outside who’s Commanders waited impatiently for his message about the outcome.

As the crowd settled down and the lights were dimmed the scenery got a touch of mystery. The logo of the Colonia Council appeared on the big holo screen and then a video showing an endless stream of ships delivering goods to Jaques Station and returning back towards the old bubble.
Then the screen turned black and the highly anticipated words appeared:
"Here are the results!":

The crowd stopped breathing.

And then the names of the ten groups were shown that made it to the colony in the first CEI:
Eol Prou Group 34995
The Winged Hussars Colonia Initiative 27900
Societas Incognitorum 21778
Pioneers and Xplorers 21700
ICU Colonial Corps 19100
Radiosidewinder 17123
GalCop Colonial Defence Commission 15504
Canonn Colonia Department 13396
Explorers' Nation 13196
Last Phoenix Vault 12220

Abacus threw his arms up in the air as he saw the terrific result of PaX.
They really made it!
Other delegates approached him and shook his hand. Everywhere the delegates of the ten first groups to settle at Colonia were congratulated and they spoke words of encouragement and respect to those who didn’t make it during the first colonization effort.
Abacus copied the data on the screen and sent the results to the PaX server.
Recipients: All
Text: For the citizens!

They say in space no one hears you scream…at this moment it seemed different!
PaX is a part of Colonia now!

Jaques Station, small conference room

The delirium of joy was still going on together with a lot of celebration and laughing.

In the first meeting with the ten delegates of the groups and the Colonia Council to organize the colonization every attendee was invited to say a few words.
When it was PaX’s turn ambassador Abacus approached the speaker’s desk as a few weeks ago and said:

‘Honoured Council, honoured delegates of the groups.
Everyone here has done something extraordinary, has gone to the limits of feasibility. I want to thank you wholeheartedly for all your effort, especially the participants of PaX.
I am looking forward to the future of this region and have high hopes for a peaceful and unique colonization effort of humankind like no one before.
A message of Largo Ormand – I am sure some of you know him – expresses this very well so allow me to present it.’
He switched on his communicator and connected it to the audio system of the room.

The voice of Largo Ormand was crisp and clear:
‘To avoid the string of tragedies of human civilization this time it is important to strive for cooperation of all the groups at Colonia and to keep this spirit. The expansion of humanity so far was always plagued by unequal power structures. This always led to war and that to even more war.
Here – at the center of our milky way – we have the unique opportunity to make a new start. All groups that settle here have the opportunity for an existence based on equality.

A living side by side without expansion at the expense of the others and without giving one group the advantage over the others.
We can form alliances here to unify humanity…for a mutual, peaceful facing of the others, the unknown, the newly awakened.
We can make this happen!

For the first time in the history of humankind let us live peacefully next to each other, let us focus all our energy on important topics.
Research and science, exploration and cartography.
Let us value art and philosophy over arms and might.
Let us work together.’

Ambassador Abacus turned off the recording and looked into the faces of the assembled delegates.
‘I know that we few assembled here in this room share these goals and many more outside. So are we up to this task?’

Official statement from the Pioneers and eXplorers (PaX) regarding the current situation and developments in Colonia:

- We are watching the events and developments in the Colonia region closely

- PaX disapproves of violent and militant actions in general and won't take part in such. The only exception is self-defence.

- We are worried by the militant actions of the Eoul Prou Group (EPG) especially as they are directed against a CCN faction, namely the Colonia Research Division

- We request the EPG to stop the conflicts as soon as possible and to support the suffering (civil) population

- PaX and all our supporters will focus all our efforts to ease the consequences of the war for all those involved - regardless of faction allegiance

- In addition we call out to all the other factions and to all independent CMDRs for support. We can't allow that food shortages, famines, martial conflicts in Colonia undermine our dream of a free, democratic alternative to the 'old bubble'.
