Pay2Win made it to Elite

Heck, they could even charge 1 Arx each time the player fires up the game, another Arx for landing, then another for take off, and 10 for each supercruise jump, 4 Arx per minute spent in Supercruise, 15 for engaging the SCO drive, another 10 when disengaging it, and 1,000 for each food, potty, phone or just stretch your legs break.

They could even make a premium payment for not playing, that would be perfect, wouldn't it? (just think of the bill those who haven't played for years would receive!)

ETA: Even better, the forum could start charging Arx for posts mentioning Arx, and Arx being used as P2W, or just P2W (and its variants), FD would have MILLIONS raised in mere days!
Come on, we were talking about reasonable changes. :ROFLMAO:
But I certainly like that not-playing penalty, superb idea!

With all that fine input, we still suffer from one problem: we would need to allow ARX accounts going negative! Otherwise how could FDev benefit from that?

no, you are all just mental.

sorry is that flaming ? already been reported once today for pointing out the obvious maybe i can make it 2
If you believe this post to be "pointing out the obvious" and that a group of customers discussing the introduction of known problematic monetization practices into an entertainment product they are passionate about is an indication of mental retardation in said group then I would posit that your IQ is likely sub-60 and therefore the statement better describes yourself than anyone else.

Or perhaps in language you will better understand "Duh...you stoopid!"

Now that was flaming. 🔥;)

I think regardless of how you feel about the changes in monetization we should all be able to agree on one thing and that is that the changes are divisive. Some will never be able to enjoy the game properly again because it is now "tainted" even if they never spend a cent in support of the new way. For others it seems to feel like a god-send as now they don't have to labour to get good stuff. I do wonder though for those that do approve, how the wallet-based short-cutting will effect the longevity of their own enjoyment?

One of the foundations of the current era monetization schemes is that player retention doesn't really matter. The money comes from new players. I would expect to see much more "buy this to get a head start on your adventure" stuff and a lot less substance being developed over the remainder of the game's life. As long as there is a steady stream of new players who drop some dollars to "get started" and then get bored or overwhelmed and leave then they have succeeded. If player retention doesn't really matter then why add new things to the game or fix bugs? Might sound cynical but hey it's not me that came up with these schemes.

No doubt about it, two schools of though, diametrically opposite in viewpoint. (not that the forum has ever been united in any change to the game since I've been part of it)
One of the foundations of the current era monetization schemes is... (clipped for clarity)
It is going to be a "Wait & See" scenario from now on. Will the game decline into mobile P2W land and lose the long-term players, will the short attention span monied people spend and go? Who knows!

Without being too cynical, some have been declaring the game is dead since it was released... More so in the past year or so, so if monetisation kills the game, it won't make any difference, will it?

Don't worry about that. Welcome to the club.
I laughed, sorry..
Dunno about you, but, if I'm having a good interaction with another forum member (and that doesn't mean all smiley & nice) there is no way I'd click that "report" button, as we are as bad as each other.

Of course, if some random decides to have a pop, then I decide if it is worth joining in, or just shutting them up... Harsh, aren't I?

I'll try to explain that for my personal situation: although I will not use the short-cutting myself, because it will reduce my enjoyment, I welcome the option for others to do it, so it prolongs the life-time of Elite, which contributes to the longevity of my enjoyment. I know, I know, I'm an egoistic upsi-that-was-a-nasty-word-but-you-know-what-i-mean, but that's my view on it.
