News Peek of the Week: Cobra Mk IV

I think they should have made something more rounded and sleeker, that said maybe if they did gives us some specs it could change my mind. Tuvok and Paris building the Delta Flyer that comment made me laugh. Looking at it already has a fake turbo intake on the bonnet

It looks like what 17 year old would do to his 10 year old Cobra, I wonder if the radio cost more then the ship

Soon we are going to see little packs of them, hanging about outside star-ports. Talking about how they beat this guy in his FDL, or how the 'cops' can never catch them. Only problem is, they can't afford the fuel do more than just hang about and compare paint jobs.

Not quite, a 17 year old would have also painted the word 'Turbo' down both sides of the craft to go along with the fake turbo intake on the bonnet.

Good thing the vacumm of space will stop the transfer of bass frequencies from the subwoofers.

I can imagine it now. We can tell that a Cobra MkIV is flying by because as well as our ship computer providing us with fake engine noise it also superimposes a thumping bass beat too.

Nice ship, but it looks a bit too similar to the Mk III. It needs a different profile to tell it apart from the current model quickly. Maybe just make the back a bit longer? Or if it's supposed to be chunkier, then add some bulk around the middle.
Profile IS longer. Teeth at the front makes it longer. From the side you got the fins to make it look taller in the back. ;)

Let's not forget the exaggerated fake engine noise due to the modified, oversized exhaust.

If these sound effects were implemented I could see a lot of complaints in the future from MK IV pilots having being destroyed for what they see as no reason.

It's a Cobra Mk III with a body kit. :)

But what class is the new hardpoint though? Small, or medium?

The design evolution reminds me of the Dssault Mirage, with the IAI Kfir and Atlas Cheetah adding bits.

Perhaps the winglets make it better flying in atmospheres?

I don't mind it. The fins do seem like an afterthought though. And, the teeth make it look like it should be called the "manta ray".

Despite my saltiness in earlier posts above, I do like the looks of the Mk.IV

I'm hoping it makes a Cobra Mk.III sound but with a little bit more throaty-ness to it. A beefier version to match the Mk.IV's pumped-with-steroids look.

Now that you said it, I realized that my issue with the teeth is in fact not their existence, but that they are so small. If they had a significant size, like on the Viper, or, as you mention, a manta ray, they would be fine!

Looks nice to me, really nice. Chunky and solid looking and with the extra hardpoint it's going to be a tough beastie!

I'm not sure if I like it or not. On the one hand it looks like it could be beefier and more aggressive than the MkIII, which I like, but then on the other hand it looks like somebody has just bolted a cheep fibreglass body kit on the MkIII, which I don't like.

That still doesn't stop me wanting one NAOWWWWW!

Love the chunky Mark IV, but as others said, it would been nice if we had another pic that the one that leaked mid week. This gamescom been really light (teaser instead of trailer for Horizon and one pic of something new). Live feed twitch on the other hand been really awesome with the dev talks but still lack media bits!!!

The horror!

Now if it was something like this:

A properly re-engineered body that lightens the craft, as well as new components, that would be great.

Also any ship that looks more like 80's BMWs (3 and 6 series) would be great. But that's just my opinion.

As with most 80s beamer drivers, insurance is going to be an issue?

Thinking about it; I want them made into spikes, just for ramming cockpits!!!
