The mk1 bore little resemblance to mk3.….... Just saying!

And here's one from in-between those two - the E46 body frame from 2001.

Personally I much prefer the E46 to the earlier E30 or the later E90, but everybody has their own preference. :)

Was ninja'd a bit on this but going from the very first model to the latest isnt a fair analogy. If you look at the pic below you can see a defineate progression through the design with each step. Any ship design would also go through this and not be a step from #1 to #6.

Mmmmm, M-Sport. Lovely.

I have to admit the E46 M3 is third on my list of cars I'd love to own one day, behind the 1967 Shelby GT500 and the 1969 Mustang Boss 429 (I do have a bit of a soft spot for those old Mustangs...)

Actually, if the Devs are listening I would really, *really* appreciate it if they could give the Cobra Mk IV an engine sound similar to an old big-block Mustang. *she says, bringing the thread back on topic. :) *

I'm not a major american car fan I have to say (engines do sound good though but I like to go around corners as well). I really do like the Shelby mustang though. The KR version they used for the new Knight Rider series was beautiful. I would have one of those. I would however like an M3. I actually like the M5 but that is just an awesome 500bhp exec rocket and well out of my price range!

My guilty pleasure however is the mitsubishi evo 8 MR FQ. I really have a thing for crazy spoilers and handling that defys the laws of physics.

While I do like the more recent Mustangs, especially the Shelbys, for me they just don't have the same appeal as the older late-sixties ones. Possibly a result of growing up in a family full of muscle car fans and watching classic American films and TV (Bullitt, Dukes of Hazard, Starksy and Hutch, etc). There's also something to be said for the squishy effect those engines have on my tummy when I'm sat in the cab and the gas is piled on... *goes all shivery just thinking about it*

As for the Mitsi Evo range, not something I've paid all that much attention to but from what little I have seen I don't think they've ever made a bad car, have they?

Yes acceleration is a good thing! Those massive american engines have it in spades and straight line they are crazy fast but they cant turn for toffee and the engine weight makes matters worse. The evo on the other hand is nearly as fast straight but can corner at that speed too and is far more nimble as the engine block is just a 2 litre lump so much lighter and poised. It may look like a family saloon car that crashed into a tuning shop window but it will out drive any car on the planet on proper roads with turns on them. It really is a feat of engineering to get 200bhps per litre out of the engine and tame it with the computer controlled ABS, Active slip differential and Active yaw control.

To be fair, I did try and bring it back on-topic with the request regarding the MkIV's engine sounds, but then Father Cool pushed my button once more and I got distracted. Ho hum.

I blame the voices. They made me do it...

1) Who needs corners when the engine makes *that* sound? (also, it *can* corner, just not very well...)

2) While those fins may be unnecessary, they do evoke a bit of 60's-70's sci-fi nostalgia...

3) My buttons are easily pressed when it comes to certain subjects. Muscle cars being one of them. No need to apologise. :)



And now, back to the topic at hand...

So, Cobra Mk IV. Can we finally get some specs on that thing please?
