Peeps?????? Time for a new name

We have moved on since RCT3 with it's Peeps and as this name is the copyright of Atari, Frontier cannot use this term in Planet Coaster. So what are these people who will populate our parks, going to be referred to in this game?

Visitors : This could be fine, but could also refer to Aliens. [alien]

Guests : Sounds better and would not defer from what they actually are.

Zac's Army : Well, he did design them after all, so we cannot rule that out, or can we? [hehe] [yesnod]

Characters : Well yes, they are, but it doesn't sound very inviting. [rolleyes]

Any other suggestions?

But I think Guests seems to be the best description.

Guests! I'd like to call them guests. [happy]

Not only because that's what they are, but also because you need to treat them as such. They deserve some respect, especially because they are so beautifully designed by Frontier. But also because they are guests.

Peeps sound really disrespectful to be. I have said that before. I don't like that word. It feels empty.

I couldn't agree with you more Joel [yesnod]
But I couldn't resist suggesting Zac's Army [haha] So Guests it is then.

I would not be disappointed if it was Zac's Army in the end, that would be funny. Though an army brings certain things with it. If the army is friendly, they are like guests. If the army is hostile, they may end up swimming involuntary and riding crashing coasters. [tongue]

How about Zac's Friends!

Some forum users are accustomed to 'peeps'... Maybe because it appears that's how they are called in RCT3. (I don't know, I play the Dutch version).

Zac's Friends is good. But I am already imagining 'army' and what to do if they are hostile. Hehehe, lol. [tongue]

I find that for the English language and better say Guest and the French language Visitor
You are right.
The word "Visiteur" in French is better (because "Invités" which is the translation of "Guests" is ... really strange [weird]).

Unfortunately, the game will not be translated into French, so ... This is even a question.

[OFF-TOPIC : ON]

Since we are off-topic, I take this opportunity to quote myself :

To frontier :

I would say that if it is complicated to translate the game into many languages (for financial reasons), does not hesitate to use the community. Some games offer different languages including, but provide the opportunity to translate the game into another language (adding the word (BETA) for example, after the language to specify that it is a translation made by the community, and that it is perhaps not complete).

This is the best way to reduce costs on some "exotic" languages, to be open to other markets, and in addition, the community is happy. Win/Win/Win.

Just give us a tool to do it, and within months, large number of languages will be supported, I guarantee.
for exemple, Minecraft is available in 62 languages with the "Languages Pack". With this technique the game is also available (and it's not a joke) in "Klingon" (Alien language from StarTrek) or "Quenya" (Elvish language from tolkien world)
And I would add that many members of this forum have offered their help.

Why games will not be French version?

I totally agree! 10/10

I think the name Peeps was invented by Atari and is an American term for describing Cartoon like characters. I know that Frontier made the characters for RCT3, When they were with Atari.

Yes they have kept to a similar style of character for Planet Coaster. But having said that, they have made them much more human like than the characters in RCT3. This time, Atari with their RCTW has gone for more photo-realistic characters, so it's swings and roundabouts. But personally, I much prefer the character we are getting in Planet Coaster. They are more appealing and they all have their own little bit of charm in the way they look and perform. I also think this will appeal to the younger generation as well as adults, so really a good decision by Frontier. Nice one Zac!
So lets treat them more humanely and refer to them as Guests

While guests does sound good, we are talking about digital people here, not real people. I seriously doubt that any of them will know that they were called peeps here on the the forums. No need to be PC about this.

I realise that they are digital people. I'd like to call them guests, but of course everyone is free to call them how they want.
I'll stick with guests. And I find them very cute [heart].

Guests for the official word, I have always seen the word "peeps" as something fans use, inofficial "slang" word, but not ingame.

That's my opinion.

I vote for guests or visitors. The name is not as important to me because they've already showed us that the guests/visitors look amazing and add a great amount of atmosphere to the game. I trust that Frontier will use a name that will sound fine for the game.

"guests" (and translations) is used ingame since RCT1
"peeps" is used by the community... There's no official relation to Atari, RCT, or Frontier (RCT3).

This discussion is useless because "peeps" was created by us!
