People using hacks

Reality check!

So you can quote one page that backs up your trolling, but then curiously don't see the same guy on the VERY NEXT PAGE (i.e. page 141) saying "Interesting, so there is a speedhack after all" after having one pointed out to him.

Referring to a quote WAY before Lajis
Post #2785 = the one you are referring to.
Post #2809 = the one I am referring to.

But keep it up, this is fun.

(edit: I was wrong, the one I am referring to was actually much more recent, and therefore much easier to find than the pages old one you were directing attention to.)

Its inane. Hacks in a PC game? batman, never happens. -.-
w/e Devs should be on top of these things, they cant always fix or stop it instantly, but its easier to drop a pm than to rabble rouse about something as normal as finding oxygen in the rainforest on the forum.

Again, these kinds of discussion are bad, waste of time, and mostly serve to let the ones who would use them of their availability. Use a P.M. or email if you have concrete things for FD.

Speedhack (num+3)
n Supercruise toggle with num3. >ou speed up to 4000c in short time. Activate only short to avoid overshooting.

NOT standard thrusters. The forum post was incorrect

Try reading the bits that don't back up your agenda.

I'm not sure if that is or isn't cheating but I do know that reporting people is a pointless exercise as they are not banned, even after multiple occasions of hacking/cheating. I myself have simply stopped reporting anyone now as there's no point.

I feel the same in reporting stuff in general now. You simply don't get a response or feedback, or any encouragement that its worth doing to improve the game for yourself or for others. Like many I want to help and do the right thing, but why waste time on that when I could be playing. I'm just avoiding Open until I hear there are some preventative measures in place and working. Personally, I think if FD can prove they cheated they should be banned from Open/Groups - That will likely cost FD money so I doubt they will do it. Frontier alsoseem to have too much on their plate to fix, update, improve so like yourself I see no point.

Until I hear that there are measures to stop all these hacks, I will be staying away from Open, which is a shame as I am sure I am not the only one who feels like this.

You mean you want confirmation from FD this is being looked into?
Sure, understandable, but you can still p.m. the mods, email FD, join your forum friends and start a campaign behind these scenes to promote FD's awareness without letting the cat out of the bag.
There is probably a hundred kids now googling 'ED speed hacks' because of this thread, good job :(

Game is not that popular, and this forum is not the only place to discuss the game.

Ironically enough, there is more then enough reason to never come here, outside of dev response.

Security through obscurity - a policy with some historical success in the physical world. Hoping that the same policy is equally effective for an online product or service when sites dedicated to finding exploits and hacks exist, as well as search engines...probably not such a great idea. If even I can google three words, two of which being the name of this game, and one being the word "hack", and hit paydirt on the first result, then those who actually want to cheat will probably be able to duplicate such a staggering feat of investigative prowess with some hard work and dedication. The thread we were referencing has approximately 160K views, so that horse bolted a long time ago. Pretending that it's still back there dropping dung in the stable is not going to help you win the Derby any time soon.

You do know that it's common practice to swing the banhammer in waves? I don't know ANY company that bans on an individual basis.
It would be stupid to just ban one person. You start by collecting as much telemetrie as possbile and then ban as many accounts as possible. If you would do this individually it would be no problem for hacker groups to circumvent the gathered data and comming up with an adapted version of their hack. So with every individual ban you just help the hacker groups to refine their hacks. The only viable way is to ban large groups of players simultaneously, wreaking huge financial damage to those who cheat and do it again once enough data is gathered for the next version of hacks.
