Horizons Personal storage, a must have now when dancing with engineers

Ok, so after I took a huge break on ED I finally crawled crying back into it and with patience waiting for 2.2 and those promised changes, changes that will bring awesome stuff nevertheless into this great game. Anyway, I thought an better way to start playing again was of course with engineers. All good and all, lots of grinding but that was expected and I don't really mind that, tho some work could be done to explain where to find some things and a little more work on RNG but I hope this fixes lets say will come soon.
Now on the problem, as I got to lvl 3 on fsd range and some other things I have around 30 cargo space full of stuff that I got from grinding missions, especially transport missions and I need all of them for different modifications. I can't really throw this things as I worked a bit on those but I need to get back on my vulture or FDL to gather more stuff especially for lvl 4 FSD (I need chemical distillery and those things I get from destroying cargo ships). How in the dangerous name can I do that? How did you guys managed all this stuff? I have a python also but I really want to use the FDL for popping ships around. Again, logic kicks in and its really frustrating, for me at least. Any ideas how can I get around this illogical lack of personal storage? I'm sure i'm not the only one with the problem....Thanks

Stop hoarding. Make a plan for what you really need and how much.
Level enginners up to reputation level 3 by using grade 1 blueprints. Will take you 12-15 uses to go from reputation 1 to 3.
Afterwards you can use materials and commodities that can be purchased to do grade 3 and grade 4 blueprints. You Only need 3 of each.

FD designed the game to prevent players from storing Engineers mats (to lengthen the process). So if you're looking for a particular item and run across another that is very rare but isn't going to be used in the near future, sadly you must pass it by. If you collect every item you come to you will run into the wall you describe plus you are magnet for interdictions. My FAS was locked in for the longest time because it was a pure combat build, no storage. Eventually I emptied out my Python and got the FAS out and had to put cargo modules in my fighting ship[ugh].

From the looks of things, there will be no mat storage in the next update and maybe not ever.

Cargo storage has a number of issues that come along with implementing it. Potential exploits and stuff. Hopefully it will come, but we might have to wait until they figure out how to safely implement it.

There will not be general commodity storage as has been clearly stated during gamescom. Frontier are, however, looking into things like engineer-specific commodity storage on their bases so you can stockpile those specific items.

It would basically be enough to have the option to keep cargo on ships in shipyard and to transfer it between your ships. So you could e.g. have a T-6 for the mats in your home-base.

Thanks for the info, I am using inara and it's great but I can't find an level 3 or level 4 bp at Elvira (the engineer I am working on) that could be upgraded only with things you can buy. I might be blind I guess, can you point me to the right direction please?

Oh man that is really sad, you worked for that storage and you had to empty all just because we don't have some simple way to store stuff. I don't mind grinding really, it's normal for an online game, but isn't this a bit unnecessary and ruining gameplay? I mean, give me grind, lots of ly to travel for some stuff, but don't give us this little frustrating illogical mechanics just to spend some more time on doing things, there are better way of doing it right?

I understand there could be some issues with coding maybe or exploits. But it wouldn't be better if they give us this personal storage and face all those exploits and problems that comes with it on the run? I am pretty sure that facing some exploits that could be managed over time is better balanced by the happy community of having this normal and logic option. Facing exploits in an online game is something necessary and unavoided but you just can't rip away some simple mechanics just because you are afraid of them. Is like staying all day in house because you are afraid something can happen if you get out but you miss all the important stuff. The balance will go for happiness of community in the long run, I'm sure they know that. I started not to like how devs are talking about the game in all the presentations and at gamescom about all the physics and logic that is involved in this game and future of it when they really hide or get around all this stuff that are way opposite from what they say. I'm not crying around or going trigger happy around, I just want as everybody else to enjoy this awesome game with normal and logical things. Also, they said that community is very important, me myself and I don't feel that :)

That will be the best way to start this. 200 storage space will be enough I guess for beginning and testing purposes in the way. How hard will be to give us this in 2.2 as a nice surprise? I would love it for sure :) Imagine how you could store all that materials that you spend hours getting and how you can come to that engineer with an combat ship without cargo hold and be able to upgrade it without all this headache of refitting it over and over and trying to get nonsense solutions on this. Some might have an orgasm just thinking about it :)

It would basically be enough to have the option to keep cargo on ships in shipyard and to transfer it between your ships. So you could e.g. have a T-6 for the mats in your home-base.
I could be happy with that also, but then I will need a way to transfer cargo from one ship to that T6, who knows what problems they will face for giving us that option :)

As I said for who had the patience to read all this, I'm not going crazy or crying around, I criticise all this in a good way and hoping to get rid of this nonsense that is going around in some areas of the game. The benefit is for all. Cheers and fly safe CMDR's.

Sorry, space warehouses don't exist.

Neither does the concept of a separate inventory. Which is great because I love having to choose between dumping rare commodities and getting chased down by a psychic pirate who will attack and even die for a chance at getting literally anything, no matter how close to worthless.

If we could just drop the commodities off bit by bit with the engineers that would be the best solution, IMO.

Everybody will love that, maybe if we ask very nicely we will get it :) And I don't see any big exploit that can be done with it...there are so many games that have this I hardly think they couldn't manage it.

:):):) One piece of material that worth hardly 1.000 credits could get you in lot of trouble and all the NPC pirates will want that with all the cost :)

Yes, properly implemented storage would be a massive QoL improvement. I want to fly my FDL, but can't do to the fact I have a bunch of mission only stuff on my python that I need to upgrade said FDL. And I don't hoard this stuff either. Over the past few weeks, I have dumped over 300 tons of purchasable engineer commodities and 50 or more mission only ones, not counting the ones I have used for upgrades to ships. Needless to say my combat rank has been steadily climbing.

How am I going to get around this? My first plan is to go through all my blueprints I need on INARA, and make a list of the commodities I will need that are mission only. The rest are going to the market. Now, I'm going to make a list of the modules I will upgrade, in priority order. FSD being top (11ly jump range, ugh), next shields, then weapons, and lastly, drives. Then, I'll figure out which ship I own, that has the required cargo space, and appropriately sized slots, to go outfit and upgrade said modules. This will take multiple runs with different ships. Then I'll use the outfitting section to do the risky business of swapping modules to the FDL. This will become much easier with module storage. Depending on what point my cargo gets low enough I can use the FDL, if it even has a cargo bay at all(IIRC, it has a 8 ton one), I will switch to it, refit for a little more cargo and finish my upgrading.

If plan A fails, plan B is this. Two middle fingers in the air to engineers, switch ships to 54ly exploration conda, and leave the bubble for an undetermined period of time, possibly months, possibly permanently.

I somehow started your A plan, but damn is waaay too tedious and too much useless and illogical time consuming. How isn't this an priority for them I don't really know and don't want to understand and they better start show that said love for what community wants as they are all advertising in almost every promoting video they stick out. Me and many others start thinking if we should pay for the next expansion when it will start next year or to really pay anymore for anything in this game. This lack of cargo and the excuse it's exploit safer isn't cut it, is way to much of not having it in this scale of this game, even little crappy games developers can stand whatever it needs for supporting this, how they cannot? And ofcourse like usual, we will not get any answer from devs....
