Planet Coaster 2: Speculation and Rumors

It is true, that list is long, but it seems like it would take lots of memory and a FAST hard drive to work all those in.
When I installed this one game [StarField] from Steam on my HDD Hard Drive, the game was lagging and freezing up, so moved it to the SSD, and it performed normally, in fact better than normal, so I moved Planet Coaster to the SSD, and it loaded fast, performed fast, even with graphics set to ULTRA and downloaded huge mega parks.

Yes. The pathing looks better in every way.
And the coaster geek in me thinks I saw some beautiful heartlined profiling on the coaster tracks. That's high on my wishlist.
I really hope that the footprint of the stations and flatrides are reduced before release. And there's an option to remove those massive bright white ride entrance/ exit gates.
There was so much good stuff to see tonight. Can't wait to see more.

Rudi has spotted a scenery brush in the gameplay. This could be amazing for forest making. 😳

What do you guys think about the Disney rumor? I mean, I would like to have their characters and so on, but for me, it's not 100% priority. PlanCo can create theirs and, also, I dont want it to be only-focused on Disney or poor in other aspects in order to have their rights.

Would be perfect if it's a Planet Coaster improved, with much many rides and stuff including some Disney-based rides and rollercoasters as well as Disney parades and animators.
Not really a fan of Disney so don't mind either way. I think it would be very difficult to get a deal with them though if it's not exclusive. Disney wouldn't want Universal to be included for example. Nor would Universal want Disney included. Maybe there is a deal to be made but I really do think that adding one Trademark means excluding all the others.

What's the chance that we get static attractions that aren't a moving ride, like RCT 1-3, like a fun house, crooked house, 3D cinema, etc. and maybe mini golf? It would be a bummer if we didn't at least get mini golf and the ability to make walk through attractions like haunted houses with a special one way path system that you can charge admission for. In RCT 2-3 you could use mini golf path, in PC1 you had to use queue line path and hide a small ride inside. I hope we get a working Gravitron (UFO spinning ride) that RCT3 and RCT World has, and that the Round Up (Centrum in PC) comes back even later on. Maybe a Rotor ride as well? PC1 felt incomplete with some rides from RCT3 missing as well as the lack of working water park stuff which PC2 will have. The RCT3 graphics really look dated now, they used 2D planes for the rides, and RCT World and PC used full 3D graphics for the rides, like if you compare the Giant Ferris Wheel in RCT3 and RCT World, the RCT3 one had 2D planes and the World one has full 3D graphics. Planet just has a more modern Giant Wheel without the spokes in the middle and a smaller Chance wheel which is like the one at my local park. And the wheel that looks like the Wonder Wheel at Deno's Wonder Wheel Park in Coney Island. Another thing is that the Wave Swinger and Grand Carousel in PC1 go clockwise, but in real life, at least in the US and at my local park they go counter clockwise. The Wave Swinger in RCT3 goes counter clockwise which is correct for the US.

Even though the game looks absolutely stunning, I still gave some nit picky kind of things that hopefully will get changed like:

  • The rafts despawning in the pools
  • The fact that it looks like the rafts are on a fixed track on the slides
  • The fact that the bigger raft slides don’t have any banking on them
  • The fact that the stations are exactly the same as PC1
  • No hotels even though one the themes is “resorts”
  • The ride areas still look masive
  • The way we still have the kiosk style stores instead of the planet zoo counter top variants
  • The way the drive tires are constantly spinning even when the train is not moving
  • All slides ending in public pools
  • The slide pieces having ridges on every 1M instead of 4-5M like in real life
  • The changing room design (basically the same as the toilets)
  • The coaster seem to have the exact same support system as they had in PC1 (which is good-ish but not that realistic)
  • 90% of the attention seems to be going towards the pools instead of the coaster part
  • The same light engine where dark rides are impossible to make without a day / night sequencer
Other than that, the game looks really really good and promising though!

I agree with you Kv on this list but I'm also taking things with a grain of salt knowing that we only saw a development build and only a small fraction of how the game will be upon release. I am very hopeful that some things will be changed prior to release and other things added later on. A lot of these critiques though nice to have altered, I can live with as they are minor things but I really really really want the footprint size to be addressed especially with some of the massive round ones (i.e. teacups). When i heard that hotels were not in PlanCo 2 I was shocked admittedly, one of the main new themes screaming for them as you note in your list "resorts", but then I thought maybe it is because they want to completely do away with the black boxes system and go more for the modular system like the PlanZoo shops. I can see restaurants being created this way with walk up counters to order/get food and then different seating (booths, tables and chairs), etc. I think I'd be okay with black boxes for hotels though. Only time will reveal to us what will come to fruition and what we can still hold onto hopes for. :)

I‘m looking forward to more deep dives. I think we just scratches the surface of infos. If everything would‘ve been revealed no more videos would be necessary. Games Com is at the End of August in like 3 weeks, I think we‘ll get at least 2 more videos like the first I think.

But let me ask, I was wondering if the UI they‘ve shown is a console UI? It looks so big in comparison to a regular UI on PC Version

I wondered about this also. The interface looks huge and so do the fonts. The entirely black parts such as the fonts and icons don't exactly sit comfortably on the blue surroundings. I hope this is just dev UI and that it will be tidied up a bit.

There's a feature I would like to see in PlanCo 2.
A park map feature that shows where the paths are, all the rides, buildings, scenery, terrain, etc.
This feature updates in real time as you build your park and add new rides, buildings, paths, pools, etc.
The map can even show you shops and restaurants.

I say it should be in an aesthetically pleasing art style that won't tax your system.
An art style that fits with Planet Coaster.
With an easy to use user interface.

Exploring other people's park's I have gotten lost before in their park.
Some parks have signs pointing you to various rides.
But also having access to a map to help find your way through any park would be great!!!

Also, I say give us the option to export the lovely map of our park to jpeg, jpg, png on computer.
Console players can screenshot the map on their console.

Thoughts?

Water park stuff is a game changer. But, I wish in some way that PC1 would have gotten a water park add on because I will have to start over my Morey's Piers recreations, they are amusement piers in Wildwood, NJ. I have several different parks in an unfinished state. I could make the water parks at the end of two of the piers with the fake waterslide tmtk pieces but they won't be interactive. And RCT3 has a few things PC doesn't, like working mini golfs. Wildwood has a few of those, indoor and outdoor. I bought the Complete Edition of RCT3 a while ago. But, PC2 has something RCT3 does not. Proper lazy rivers with innertubes. In RCT3 you could sort of make lazy rivers but people would just swim in them, not float on innertubes. And I really wish PC2 would have a beach biome with just sand and water at one end. You could make an ocean in RCT3 by positioning the water at just the right height and it would go off into infinity simulating an ocean along a beach. And at some point in newer Windows versions like Vista, 7, 8, etc. the billboard custom images got broken in RCT3 because Windows changed the name of the My Pictures folder to just Pictures and the folder address in RCT3 pointed to the old one and you had to do a DOS window and type something to fix it.

PLEASE incorporate VR compatibility for Planet Coaster 2!!!!! It would take an already amazing park-building sim to the next level as a ride simulator and in being able to walk through parks through your guests' eyes!
VR, including PS5 VR could be the ultimate Planet Coaster 2 experience, especially if it was a controllable guest who goes where we want. Even better we could build track rides with targets that would be extra fun in VR and controllable go carts, bumper cars and carnival mini games that would add to the immersion & fun in VR. While it might seem a small market, especially for PS5, it would make a significant impression, elevating the attention on the game and expanding the appeal of the game to more gamers. Please dive into VR for Planet Coaster 2.
