Be me sitting around thinking how to make the best PlanCo2 possible. What are the things we love about PlanCo? Customization and Design.
What is the least designable, customizable thing? Flat Rides.
What does everyone always want more of in DLC? Flat Rides
My suggestion is one of the key features in PlanCo2 is the removal of premade Flat Rides, and include a "Flat Ride Editor"
Basic Idea is this
1. Select Flat Ride type, circle, wheel type, swinging arm, piston (could be many more that im not considering, would be interesting to figure out the specific "classes" of flat rides)
2. Select Arm type. Each ride type would come with a variation of "Arm types" Spidery top down things, under carriage mounts, rotating floor, ferris wheel, zipper style. In this menu you can also edit the number of arms as well as material type (steel lattice, I-beams, hydrualic pistons)
3. Select Carriage type - Carriage types again unique for each ride type / arm type - these are variable based off size, shape, seat count, and effects (spin, tilt, stationary, flappy wings, pendulum, motor driven)
4. Animation - I dont see this as a huge hurdle as each type would have their animation types and they'd just work in conjunction. The same can be said for sound. All assets would have pre recorded sounds linked to their style, and simply work in conjunction with eachother.
5. Physics and EFN - All of this data can be preloaded into the variable assets (as they already are in each flat ride) and we do not need active simulation of physics. A few sliders to adjust, speed, suddenness, and perhaps severity - all effecting a scalable Physics and EFN rating.
So what i am proposing is Planet Coaster 2 to include...basically a flat ride CAD tool ^_^. But seriously though, the possibilities would be near limitless, you know it would be popular with content creators on the workshop.
DLCs could include instead of full functioning flat rides, just new "themes" and "styles" of assets for flat ride designer tool. Vanilla can come with some pre-made well known styles (like we already have in blueprints for coasters), and include some scenery for those not interested in diving deep into ride design.
In addition, this answers the time honoured question among PlanCo players - can I make my own Flat Rides?
I know this is probably asking the absolute world and I will never really see this - but damn Fronteir, if you guys want to knock PlanCo2 out of the park, I really think this would be it.
