Horizons Planet missions = always bounty?

New to both Horizons and Engineers. Question re: Horizons side - other than simple delivery missions to planet side bases, it seems like missions you take like 'disable generator' means you are required to get a negative faction bounty in order to complete.

Is that correct? Are 'disable generator' missions kind of like the assassinate or kill ships missions where you are not killing pirates but faction npc, and therefore get a bounty from the local faction?

I took a mission that called for landing on, then SRV goto and 'disable' a power generator. Couldn't figure out any way to scan disable so shot it and that set bounty on me. Guess I can just ignore these type of missions as I dislike getting bounties placed on me, but wanted to ask if anyone knew whether this is normal or if basically planetside missions requiring disabling/destroying things are basically the planet side versions of space assassinate contracts (which I also avoid).

You target a legit faction you'll get a bounty. You target pirates - no bounty.

And how you know that?
I've stopped to do planetary mission becasue of the bounty when I've tried to do the first one.

You may scan skimmers near the base, if they are wanted or lawless---> no bounty.
But no worries about this kind of bounty. Usually takes 10 mins - 1 hour and it expires. Just a H-jump and you're clear.

Ok, but you already took the mission.
So basically the choice is to get a bounty or to lose reputation.

I'd like to know when I pick a mission if it involves to attack a legit faction or some pirates.

The system view gives a rundown on the factions and what they are. You target the criminal ones you should be ok. Or go into anarchy systems and attack the controlling faction's assets, that should be a no brainer.

None of the SALVAGE missions risk any kind of bounty for doing them. So, if you enjoy doing planet based missions, I would suggest avoiding ANY of these Skimmer related missions and focus on the salvage types.

These are the ones that have the graphic showing a cargo canister next to a crescent moon/planet. At least i my experience, these also pay WAY MORE than those Skimmer/Base attack missions. I don't bother with any of those myself. Not worth the trouble, both for the risk of a bounty nor for the CR rewards they offer.

thanks, I'll try those. Just trying to toss some mix into usual Srv scavenging for rare mats, but dislike getting bounties.

my OP was because the wording on mission initially led me to think maybe it was different than similar mission that says destroy generator. Thought maybe disable generator labeled mission might be non-bounty but guess not.
