Planet Zoo 2 Speculation and ideas

If you could bring the exhibit species up to 2 in every DLC, what would you add?
South America - Helmeted Basilisk
Australia - Bearded Dragon
Aquatic - Red-Eared Slider
Southeast Asia - Philippine Sailfin Lizard
Africa - Panther Chameleon
North America - Arizona Coral Snake
Europe - European Tree Frog
Wetlands - Green Anaconda
Conservation - Lord Howe's Island Stick Insect
Twilight - Satanic Leaf-Tailed Gecko
Tropical - Reticulated Python
Arid - Thorny Devil
Oceania - Tuatara
Eurasia - King Cobra

that there were supposed to be 4 dlcs in the first year (screwed by covid),
Doesn't look like so.
Something like this would be already in works before covid hit and there is no single hint about existence of missing pack. First year was just supposed to have 3 DLCs.

I think the fact that we only got 1 base game oceanic animals and barely 2 south american animals is a crime yes on their own they cant make a dedicated section but at least there is something the saltwater croc is the best possible animal to be a solo oceanic representative because it connects quite well to other regions.
To say there should be no base game oceanic animals both minimises an entire continents existence and also ignores the facts that not everyone can afford both the base game and dlc and should have animals covering all regions selectable in the zoopedia and foliage or it would make the base game feel actively missing something.
The nile croc is a good choice which we should of gotten in place of one of the south american caimans but either the saltwater croc should be first or some other oceanic animal that can be standalone should

Where can that concept art be found?

On Sebastian Hickey behance. He used to be Frontier's employe.

This is true all the same. While you'd never be able to build an Oceania area with just the croc, I did have a crocodile-centred tropical wildlife park ala Crocodylus Park as my very first attempt at a sandbox build back when the game first launched, as that was the only kind of Australian zoo that felt vaguely realistic by just having the saltie haha. So its inclusion in the base game did give me that, and it's too iconic an animal to leave out regardless (I really want both salties and freshies - if we had neither, an Australian croc would almost certainly be my most wanted animal at this stage). I just wish they didn't look so low quality compared to the other beautiful crocodilians we have in the game now 😅

That's a cool find, but looking through Sebastian Hickey's gallery on Behance shows that menu was quite early in development. I'm not sure if a name thrown onto early concept art of UI really counts as having been "cut". It could've been a placeholder name because that species' name was still fresh given that the Ultimate Animal Collection for ZT3 has only just released a couple years ago.
100% this. They're very obvious placeholder names.

Ah my bad, don't take the labels too seriously!

Still, going by how JWE2 went, not expecting many cuts, if anything. Cut discourse is also something that tends to turn toxic in gaming circles FWIW.
I hope. There are some animals that i would be ok to be left for DLCs if that would mean they take the time to make better versions of them: snow leopard, orangutan, red panda, bongo, okapi, pygmy hippo, Komodo dragon, gharial, Indian rhino, spotted hyena, african wild dogs, bactrian camel, etc.

But for the most part i think most of the latests DLC animals are of great quality and should be in base game. Specially the ungulates.

I would also be okay with some oddballs missing like the cuvier's dwarf caiman or the Arctic wolf to name a couple that i don't think are essential to the game as a whole and have replacements that are more common or useful (same with changing the breeds of some of the domestic animals)

And i like said before imo pretty much all the Oceanian, South american and European roster that we currently have should be ingame with some add ons like the rhea or the perentie so we have a nice base from the get go.

Arctic - not really any but if exhibits as tanks like with the axolotl were a thing: sea butterfly (clione limacina) and snow crab
South America - Plumed basilisk
Australia - Thorny devil
Aquatic - Giant water beetle
SEA - Atlas beetle
Africa - Panther chameleon
North America - Eastern coral snake
Europe - European stag beetle
Wetlands - Chinese Salamander
Conservation - Lord Howe stick insect
Twilight - Halloween crab
Grasslands - Frilled lizard
Tropical - Orchid mantis
Arid - Desert rain frog
Oceania - Wetapunga
Eurasia - Chinese salamander
Barnyard - Mediterranean house gecko + Honey bee wte
Zookeepers - Spectacled Cobra, Leopard gecko

To be honest, I would be fine going down to something like 3 packs a year for the sequel. Maybe with a bit more animals per dlc, especially with how few exhibit animals we get I would be happy waiting to get more animals.
