Planet Zoo 2 Speculation and ideas

One change I would like to see in PZ1 is the removal of the separation of drinks and food shops. The same shop should sell both things, which is more realistic.
I do think making generic food stands is the way to go, maybe we can get new sizes to food stands like we would exhibits?
  1. Size 1 is the smallest food stands, and is able to serve basic fast food. Think hot dogs, burgers, chicken tenders, soda, and water. There would also be an alternative desert stand, which would serve ice cream. Maybe even a drink stand, while I understand it’s a game for all ages I would love to replicate “Brew at the Zoo” style events.
  2. Size 2 would be able to serve the fast food, and pizza. Alternatives to size 2 can include more regional foods, think Mexican, Indian, Italian, Barbecue etc.
  3. Finally size 3 would be more like a restaurant over the basic food stands. Salads, cooked meals, desert options.
Kind of like exhibit boxes there could be multiple layers to fit all the different needs.

I agree with the ideas, but as long as PZ2 doesn't have guests requiring a food/drink stand every 50 feet I will be happy.
Honestly that is more important to me than combining the food and water stands. The fact I have to have food and water every 100 feet is ridiculous. Bathrooms I understand, but people don’t typically starve after only walking 1,000 feet.

Difficult guest needs was also an issue I had with Frontier’s ZT3.

I find it extremelly unrealistic and often times stupid how the game threat guests drink need.

Most zoo that i've went not only allow guests to bring in they own water bottle, but also encourage it, while also providing lots of drinking fountains in the case you want to fill it or drink something and still sell they own bottles.

Meanwhile in PZ, we have to make guests pay for a cup of water, and they will complain if not able to do it.

Not to mention showing up in the dead of winter in a tank top and sandles

Yea it’s amazing how long this has remained as a staple in the genre
Perhaps it's an issue because food and drink are 2 separate needs, so having them satisfy both at the same time creates problems?
Even if so, I've said that PZ2 really should combine food and drink into one category to simplify - and also hopefully be a category that goes down VERY SLOWLY.

Although it would require Frontier to tweak the financial system a bit, as food/drink sales are a big part of your zoo income in the game.
An easy fix if they didn't want to make too many changes would be just to up the amount guests donate to compensate(donations should account for most of zoo income anyways).

I went to Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago growing up all the time. It's free, so funding with taxpayer $$, but even still, there was only a single food vendor in the entire zoo, a popcorn guy near the seals. Even at the other zoo in the area, Brookfield, there were only a handful of food vendors and maybe 1 restaurant(?) - and Brookfield is a zoo that covers a lot of territory with plenty of walking between areas.

  • Much improved graphics, the animals will look amazing in PZ2 compared to some old PZ1 models like lion etc...
  • Path system from planet coaster 2 (Or perhaps even further improved from the system in PC2)
  • Scaling objects
  • Brushes for trees, bushes, rocks etc... with premade ones and custom ones...essential...
  • Spline system where you can spline things to objects would give us so much more flexibility and speed when building, especially climbing things for animals and similar builds
  • Easier systems for placements of objects when you want to make round things or more complex shapes, we could get alot of help here with intuitive systems
  • Aviary animals
  • Fully aquatic animals
  • More in depth exibits with more ways to edit them and add things inside, more flexibility and more options
  • Different types and sizes of exhibits, at least give us 3 possible sizes
  • For fully aquatic animals obviously a pool type system kind of like Jurassic Evolution has for aquatic animals
  • Aquatic exhibits (for small aquatic animals, fishes etc)
  • Zookeeper system would be nice, let us be able to take care of the animals and be able to do many things
  • More interactivity with animals in first person mode, being able to interact more with animals, feed them etc...
  • Subspecies (This could add much more animals to the game since you could have 1 base animal but maybe 3-4 subspecies)
  • Playgrounds for guests, more intractivity with food, drinks, interactive fountains maybe... etc...
  • Being able to simply place the animal in the zoo (in sandbox mode) instead of waiting for the keepers to rush it into the habitat, come on its sandbox...
  • Weather/Seasons, and having effects of snowing etc... on guests, animals etc...
  • No more "can't place obstructed" when you are 5 meters close to a path or something, and not being able to place a building or item or blueprint, we should have the free option to place anything wherever we want to place them no restrictions
  • Staff vehicles, driveable
  • More ground textures (very easy thing to implement)
  • Challenge mode
  • More challenging game or difficulties where its a struggle to make profit and you need to really make good decisions
  • Multiple staff entrances in habitats
  • Being able to have more customisation with objects, fences, paths, walls, every single one should have color options to change colors and some texture changes for alot of them, so same base but different changes or varieties or variations

I could go on and on

I so agree, but let's be real, we know we're getting them separate again, probably with the new PC2 brands (SodaLiteful, etc).

Should be like this:
  • Burgers/Fries/Soda.
  • Ice cream/milkshakes.
  • Coffee/baked goods/smoothies.
  • Hotdogs/soda.
  • Pizza/fries/soda.
Water available at all of them.

Restaurants should also include restrooms, too.

With the way they have updated restaurants in PC2 I don't think they should include bathrooms anymore, since now the restaurant is just the kitchen and we can build the whole restaurant as we want, so we can add a bathroom block where we want.

hear me out what if restaurants were fully customisable like instead of having a stall dedicated to each type of food we got an icecream freezer, burger grill and milkshake machine that when placed near a cashier point can be used to set the menu to whatever we want.

In my opinion, the main challenge for a Planet Zoo 2 is to clarify and rebalance the game between construction and animal simulation. Personally, I am more of a builder profile, but I can see in my acquaintances playing the game that what has put them off is the lack of new features in terms of animal mechanics and keeper gameplay.

Besides major new developments like aviaries or possible aquariums, it seems to me that a rethinking of animal behavior would be a real revolution and that we need it.
Here is a list of some behaviors that would enrich the animal simulation aspect of the game:

  • Herd behavior
  • Mother/baby behavior
  • Stereotypic behavior in an unsuitable environment
  • More realistic activity (animals known for sleeping for long periods should be less active, others known for spending their day eating should eat more, those known for spending a lot of time perched should be on the ground less often, etc.)
  • Etc...

To this I would add a major novelty in terms of realistic simulation, in the relationship between keeper and species. The idea would be to introduce species-specific facilities and that the keepers cannot, for example, enter a tiger's or elephant's enclosure. It seems to me that we must therefore find a new mechanism to introduce more realistic backstage areas. With secure night enclosures adapted to the different species. These could be customizable modules maybe.
This would add in terms of simulation the notion of safety of visitors, animals and keepers .
That being said, this means that it is difficult to get the entire PZ1 roster at the launch of PZ2. Because all the animals we have would require a huge update in terms of animations.

For a few weeks now I've been wondering if we shouldn't have a new DLC strategy, more recurrent (every two months maximum) including free content (PZ1 animals remastered for PZ2 mechanics and PZ1 props) and new PZ2 species.

This could work with a clear road map and why not accompany the gameplay in the game. Indeed, in this perspective of better addressing the career and franchise gameplay, this could be more linked to the sandbox content. With a free and incremental unlock of PZ1 elements, we could imagine a career mode where we start with a small zoo with aviaries and small animals, and two months later, our efforts as a zookeeper give us access to a new category of species and two months after that, even others...

This could force manufacturers to play more in simulation mode to unlock animals and scenery for their sandbox game and thus rebalance the game and its community which I have always found very divided between the two player profiles.

I wonder if they should make it so climbing isn't "enrichment". Currently it is, and a few players have observed that climbing animals use climbing equipment more on hard mode because they need more enrichment overall than on easy mode. Instead, climbing animals (primates and such) should just climb because it's what they do.
