Planet Zoo 2 Speculation and ideas

Yeah, hopefully that gets fixed. I’ll be honest, if I don’t get these two things I won’t buy a potential sequel:
  1. First and foremost, I need more gameplay. More zoo management or zoo based gameplay features. Whether it be a zookeeper mode, better animal conservation, animal training, literally anything. I genuinely need this over more animals, and adding the building from PC2. I need the gameplay loop to expand past building and bare minimum management.
1000% yes. PZ1 focused on building creativity and gameplay and actual zoo management got the bare minimum. While so many builders and people with far greater creativity and patience than I really loved this, those of us who like to build a bunch of 30 minute enclosures and then hang out and enjoy the game were SOL.
Really about 99% of gameplay is selling/trading/releasing babies, replacing older animals as they die, and updating enrichment when animals tire of them. Not exactly a thrill a minute, and the constant population management is more tedious than anything.

Thinking about PZ2 and its possible DLCs, I think that while the first game had mostly geographical or biome themed dlcs, the sequel could go for ecosystems:

-Deserts DLC
-Mountains DLC
-Islands DLC
-Forests DLC
-Jungles DLC
-Rivers DLC
-Marine DLC
-Savannah DLC

These generic themes were often discussed for PZ1 and Frontier could have saved them for the sequel. Assuming the seocnd game includes all the original game animals, these themes would allow to add additional mammals/reptiles along birds and fish. For example, the rivers DLC could have another otter, Pere David's deer, Nile crocodile, arapaima, Roseate spoonbill, red bellied piranha, a duck and the green anaconda as an exhibit.
True. But there's no reason Frontier can't use the same DLC themes as PZ1. I mean, a North America DLC with half freshwater fish, half birds, and even a scenery pack with a Native/Log Cabin themed build would be a banger.

Honestly a dream pack of mine, a tour of America with some cool animals not in game? Sign me up!
  1. American black bear ⭐
  2. Wood duck
  3. American porcupine
  4. Whooping Crane ( super underrated IMO, and absolutely major conservation story over here)
  5. Elk/ Wapiti
  6. Wild turkey
  7. Burrowing Owl
  8. Aviary: California Condor (I’m assuming the Bald Eagle would be in game already)
  9. Aviary: Great horned owl
  10. Aquatic: American paddlefish
  11. Aquatic: alligator gar
  12. Exhibit: Hellbender (another good conservation story)

PZ2 logo is probably gonna be quite a bit different. Content, graphics, style, music, all that would be different.
Probably not. Graphics will be better but everything else is going to be rather same-y. Look at Coaster 2. I feel like a lot of folks are busting out ideas that are totally unrealistic because they're not looking at the existing example of a Planet series sequel. Like seriously - PZ2 will probably feel like much the same game, only with a far better pathing system, object scaling, and improved textures. Hopefully we can also expect aviaries of some description and improvements in other features such as exhibits. The pool and path building systems in PC2 give me hope that designing enclosures in PZ2 will be somewhat similar - I'm especially intrigued by the possibilities of the free-draw tool. Initally my mind went to aviaries and aquaria, but it might not work for that.

Personally I'm hoping they can do some kind of overhaul of habitats in general - at the moment it's not easy to do, for example, primate skywalks over guest paths because A) the animals only climb, for the most part, if there's reason to do so, and B) it's hard to connect sectioned habitats, even using the null barrier, because keepers can only access one half (unless you build a janky bridge or something).

Yeah, and in IRL some habitats actually have multiple gates to either seperate or to bring in animals. Hopefully the potential overhaul coul bring this in otherwise like you said it'd be just PZ but better.

I'm hoping they can figure out a way to differentiate between "habitat gate" (i.e. a gate that determines what is/isn't a habitat) and "access gate" i.e. a gate that is simply there to allow access to a different part of the enclosure. Or, as I mentioned in another thread, remove the necessity for keepers to enter the full habitat all together. I want to be able to have islands primates can only access via climbing or something.

Lemur/ monkey islands are super common in zoos, I’m kind of amazed how difficult they are to make in game.

I for one am 100% in favor of keepers just automatically getting things done. Would make it easier to make aviaries, and habitats for arboreal animals. Or as others have mentioned, split habitats.

Side note I’m super jealous of the new plants in planet coaster 2 and how good the returning ones look
I'm still malding that PC2 got blue gums after I begged for a new eucalypt for years 😭 theoretically they'll just be modded in anyway but I'd much rather have them in officially (especially given the fact I'd use them literally everywhere means I'd not be able to show any builds here on the forum anymore lol)

Just watched leafs overview of the plants and i must say that most does look pretty good, but im really not a fan of how much all the foliage wobbles around and the rocks do look rather sloppy
And there are a few very puzzeling exclusions imo, like the buffalo grass (or something comparable) and with how much focus is on aquaparks and water stuff water lilies seem like an absolute nobrainer.
