but wouldn't it make sense if they made a pack with big bangers like they used to do? I mean, if they are in dire need of money, shouldn't it be more logical to listen to the playerbase? just asking

I think we should remember that most everyone is giving initial takes on the DLC reveal. Initial reactions are always going to be more positive/negative than neutral. As people take a breath their reactions generally temper.
Also we are in the later stages of PZ support. We are getting half the amount of DLCs per year. Frontier is even less communicative than before, and the expectation is that every DLC is the final one. So many who really want a Squirrel Monkey, Howler or Spider Monkey now feel they won't ever get one. Same goes with people who want the Coati or Mara.
I haven't seen much examples of hysteria...mostly just a bit of bitterness and cynicism, which is to be expected given the circumstances.

I see what you mean and I don't think the pack is bad (it is actually better the Eurasia, Oceania or Zookeeper imo), but as a big fan of Southamericn fauna it feels like this pack started with a disappointment even from its announcement with the coyote and the bighorn in it.
And to be fair: Yes, there are two birds in it but I am pretty sure, 85% of us wouldn't have asked for a second Flamingo species.
I really like the Rhea, the Saki, the Bushdog and the ocelot but taking in account we had to wait for a second pack focused on South American animals since the South America Pack raised the barr for expectations. And they simply got disappointed.
And just to be clear, I am also perfectly able to appreciate the quality of the rhea's feathers. No complaints there.
sidenote, but we officially have more than 200 animals now! pretty fun if we stop to think there used to be only 80.
This pack missed so much.
The quality of the animals are great, no doubt about that and yes we should appreciate that we get more animals, but that doesn't mean we can't critisize it. I myself as someone working with animal and knowing the SA or NA wildlife I can't see these are great picks. The rhea, ocelot, bush dog are great choices, Saki is decent, however the rest..
With the bushdog, the coyote lost it's touch even as logo animal, cause that spot would've been taken by the bush dog, a better animal to make people excited as it's way more unique. The bighorn sheep is okay, but why not a mountain goat? I mean, sure this bighorn sheep is good for desert zoos and such, but a mountain goat is more appealing, more unique and more NA representation. The bighorn sheep is literally copy past and give it a new color, done. I feel like it kind of makes the dall sheep useless? Same as the spectacled caiman and cuvier's dwarf caiman, both great, but one is just outcompeting the other, making one of them kind of useless, might be just me xD
The American Flamingo...despite me being a bird lover and having seen these birds in real life(During my trip to the Galapagos) is literally also a copy paste animal and feels to me kinda useless. Yes I'm glad we got more birds, but it doesn't really expand the bird roster much. There are better options; Screamer, Pelican, Jabiru, spoonbill, Ibis, for me especially the pelican. Everywhere on the tropical beaches in the Americas are brown pelicans, and I really wished they would continue the waterfowls after the swan, but alas no. To me it would be much better to have a Brown Pelican than another flamingo, which is the same as the others.
The future of PZ is gonna be mods, same as ZT2, mods will continue the support for PZ for many long years and even after support. For me this pack has so many missed opportunities, as SA has so many unique animals. Tamandua, a porcupine, Mara, and for goodness sake a COATI! such a missed chance, and a real shame. SO yeah that's what it sums it up for me, a lot of wasted potentials of becoming great...

The model quality isn’t that much worse. The problem is the rosters choices. That requires having a pulse on what the community feels. And I’m guessing that is was these media-savvy devs who got caught up in the terminations.
Honestly I feel like most people would be completely fine with the bush dogs inclusion here if it wasn't coupled with the coyote. Like if the coyote was a mara or smth i feel like a lot of people would be singing a different tune right now.

Alright, I'm very disappointed we're not getting the coati. Like, VERY disappointed. This is my first reaction and I can't help it. I also have mixed feelings about some of the other animals in this pack. The saki is the only one I'm really super excited about. That said, I'm still going to use them all in the end, so I can't say this is a bad pack. It could just have been better.
I'm also very thankful we're still getting DLCs and I think some people are being too harsh with Frontier. To me, even though I would sometimes make other animal choices, the quality is still there. 10€ for a pack of this quality still sounds cheap to me, but maybe I'm crazy? I mean, come on, what can you buy for 10€ these days?
P.S.: I hope we're still getting more DLCs after this one and I hope the coati finds its way in. And the American black bear too! It's my favorite bear and now that we have all the other bears, I'm so sad that I don't have my favorite one. It also seems essential for NA zoos. It would be perfect for anniversary animal IMO.
P.P.S.: This isn't really about the DLC, but I'm less active on the forum these days and I want Frontier to read this. I still think we should get the pieces that are in the keeper hut, vet clinic, etc as individual scenery pieces. This can't be that difficult, right? And it would be an amazing gift. Hell, I'd be ready to pay 10€ for those pieces! Also, the game is really lacking a proper herbivore hay rack feeder. This is one of the things I miss the most every time I want to build a realistic enclosure. And please could you also resize the giant tortoises?

Sometimes you disappoint me a bit (my coati ), but I still love you very much and I'll forever be thankful for this game!All in all this Pack will BE ranked in the lower midfield for me. But that ist okay. I already got my Most wanted animal Last Time. But I got 3 animals from my top actual top 15. The Ocelot was in my top 3, the Bush Dog in my Top 5 and the Greater Rhea also within the Top 15. The Greater Rhea can be Part of bigger SA enclosures with a lot of the Other SA herbivores we got. If WE should get the Patagonian Mara one time I even could recreate the big SA enclosure of my local Zoo. The Bush Dog is Just so Special and cute to Look. And I Always like cats.
The Saki is a surprise but a pleasant. This was the high Work animal I guess. And honestly, WE should Not expect more than 1-2 animals with Higher effort to make anmyore.

They better not stop their cat addiction now when the next one is the best. We’ve gotten 2/3 of the small cats people requested last year (Pallas, ocelot) now we need (imo) the best one of the 3. Come on frontier one more cat!
