Planet Zoo | ZooKeepers Animal Pack Announcement

But getting a fourth primate for madagascar while south america only has a single one just doesnt feel right to me.
I feel that in my bones.

Though, as I've been repeatedly saying lately, I'm happy enough with just the baboon. Hopefully the sequel will do our New World monkeys justice. Aside from the tortoise there's not really much else in the pack I find too exciting. The markhor is cool.

Edit: Also, we've sacrificed an exhibit animal for pieces again. I had hoped they might at least toss us a chameleon for the final DLC, but ah well.

Can I say how disappointed I am in the lack of an exhibit animal? So many good choices that could have been implemented. Any Cobra. Any Chameleon. Black Mamba. Chinese/Japanese Giant Salamander. Greater Siren. Red Bellied Piranha. European Glass Lizard. Leafcutter Ants. Frilled Lizard. Green Basilisk. Mang Mountain Pitviper. Horned Lizard. Thorny Devil. So many good choices and we get....nothing?

Half the time those things are so tiny you can't even see them without zooming in extra close... just make a fake exhibit box and pretend something is in it.

So what would you guys have done differently for this pack, for me I would have done this
Coquerel's Sifaka for Geoffrey's Spider Monkey: I love the Sifaka but the Spider Monkey is better
Kirk's Dik-Dik or Markhor for Mandarin Duck, Secretary Bird, or some kind of Pelican: why not have a bird in the last pack
Add a Cobra for the exhibit: maybe they could charge 15 for it but it is kinda weird ending the game without a Cobra.

I tend to assume we get certain animals based on resources available. Theoretically a sifaka is easier than a spider monkey.

That said, I'd have nixed the sifaka for a squirrel monkey, which is probably also easier than a spider monkey. Nixed the dik-dik (highly requested? Really?) for a muntjac, pudu, or even the klipspringer. Also, I love the markhor, but the the babary sheep I think I'd use more often.

Well, in theory you could expect the 7th first animals of the wishlist to fill the final dlc.
So the having 4th animal (the bear) on the list to be among the 7 final animals makes sense, the 11th (baboon) and 22nd (the pallas cat) make less sense.

I dislike the bear inclusion because it's lazy... some much not needed and feels like a middle finger in the face of people wanting unique SA representations.
But in terms of communication, yes it was requested. If it was the most requested animal from this pack, saying he wouldn't be represented in people final pack is just wrong.
My point was that if people were drawing up a finale pack, they would have 1 slot for a bear, and with minimal slots for SA representation, the ABB would likely win far more votes and people would choose the other SA animals for those slots.
I will take the blame for explaining this poorly.

But sure, I will concede that the Spectacled Bear would be the 4th from this DLC that could fit in with a popular Finale Pack.

Yea fare point, I guess maybe a Howler Monkey instead of a Sifaka, and for the Dik-Dik I would have a Muntjac or a bird, a duck or rhea would probably not be to hard to do so one of them.

Let's say it is the last dlc, I'm sorry but where is the Thememaker's Toolkit? and I wanna use it as excuse that there is still hope for more dlcs but seriously although it called Zookeeper Animal Pack, does that actually means It's the last? cuz if it was I think Frontier would've hinted at it in the career map and I think this DLC is more of a celebration cause the game literally lives for 5 years like that is insane and It's a big number and I am not gonna lie to u the ppl who chosed the pack name r quite interesting, but I can be totally make it up cause I wanna believe It's not the end.

Well for sure no dik dik, Sifaka or tortoise would've been in my final cute: howler for Sifaka, mara for dik dik and any bird for tortoise.

For some reason a lot of people doubt it will get added, which I don't really understand.

Honestly I actually would prefer them keeping the tortoise, I would prefer a bird but I really like the tortoise.

I know a lot of people wouldn’t like this as much (which is totally valid, to each their own), but I’d ditch both the cat and the bear. They’re both nice, and I especially love the bear myself, but both groups are incredibly well represented and really should not have been priority in a final pack. Same goes for the markhor with how well represented caprids are. I’d probably replace two out of those three with a group that should’ve gotten multiple representatives, birds (shocker I know).

Despite my fatigue with ungulates lately, I don’t mind the dik-dik so much as it fills the the role of an extra small ungulate, one of the only niches in the group previously left untouched. That said I would have preferred a pudu just for the sake of giving something more to SA.

The sifaka is also pretty okay and definitely not “just a fourth lemur” to me but considering the resources probably needed for it I’m definitely in the camp of “it should’ve been a second monkey”.

The tortoise reaches the stage where I’m kinda nitpicking, as I’m grateful that habitat reptiles got noticed again at all lol. Would have preferred a smaller species (Red footed, another SA rep anyone?), a tegu or Aussie monitor for the reptile slot. Still a decent pick though.

So a better roster for me personally probably would’ve looked something like this:

Victoria crowned pigeon
White-faced whistling duck
Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo
Perentie
Hamadryas Baboon
Golden Lion Tamarin
Pudu

Maybe move swap some things around for more continental diversity, as it’s very Oceania and SA heavy (not that I mind, if anything I prefer that lol) but with those general niches being focused on it’d certainly be a much better pack for me. Maybe throw in the coati too as a much better choice for the inevitable carnivoran pick.
