Horizons +++ planetary bases.

So during my travels, Ive come across a few planetary installations that have "+++" at the end of the name. To my knowledge these indicate bases with high security?..
My question is, what are these bases for? They have no landing pads, and seemingly noother purpose than "just to be there".
Do they have any functionality? Can you obtain anything by "raiding" them?

+'s are indication of the size of the outpost, not the security rating which is noted separately.

They are places missions send you, and there are data links you can "data link" to, to obtain CR bonds outside of missions.

Large bases may still be low security but bear in mind that if you have a mission to find/destroy/scan something it may take much longer in a really big base.

Ahh, I see. Thanks guys, had me wondering what the deal was lol. Havent realy done any surface missions of that type, so hadnt discovered thats what they were for :)
