Why most of the planets pitch black all the time now what happened to the good looking star systems...

The dark sides ... are now dark. Try flying around the other side?

The night happens to be dark. Use night vision. Or wait until dawn.

Because the system main star is now the only major light source in the system.
That means that the night side of the planet doesn't receive almost any artificial illumination and therefor is pitch black.

Along with this, your ship has also been given a night vision mode, though. You can turn it on in the "SHIP" tab on your right panel or bind it to a button in settings.

Things look fine to me, the dark side is now dark, and the bright side, bright.

You might want to update your graphics drivers and/or lodge a bug report, with a system-report attached.
