Description:
Apathy toward the Kumo Crew’s activities on the fringes of Federation space was replaced by the full wrath of Senators Patreus and Lavigny-Duval as the Imperial system of Cuchua came under attack this week.

A high ranking officer of Lavigny’s Legion offered the following words as the Legion deployed to assist Patreus’ forces in Cuchua: "We ask all who are loyal to Princess Arissa to join with us in bringing Imperial justice to these barbarians that think us weak like the Federation.” The call has been heeded by pilots in every major Imperial power.

In a two-pronged offensive, the expeditionary forces, spearheaded by the Velites Squadron of Lavigny’s Legion, targeted Kumo ships in Cuchua and Harma. The operations, code named “Charybdis” and “Davy Jones,” have led to the downing of hundreds of Pirate vessels and dozens of Kumo commanders. Imperial casualties have been minimal, but the fighting continues.

Title: Breakthrough in artefact research

After meticulous and sometimes tedious investigation, scientists working under Dr Arcanonn have uncovered that the recently discovered "Unknown Artefacts" may have some basis in human technology.

Audio studies of the objects show that they emit a distorted but audible signal matching the very long-established Earth signalling scheme morse code, through which the artefact broadcasts the identity of the nearest celestial body when released into free space.

Speculation is rife as to what the objects are - scanners, navigational aids, Thargoid homing-beacons - all of which is considered more concerning now that it is understood that the artefacts appear to have knowledge of morse code, and thus potentially other human technologies, embedded within them.

Dr Arcanonn's team have renewed their plea to the Federal Government to release any information they possess about the artefacts in order to assist with the continuing research.

Title: Leaked document causes concerns over latest Imperial technology

News of technical documents posted anonymously via the shady <Ahem> dark network are spreading virally and causing widespread concern among Imperial Pilots. According to the documents some of the new Imperial modules that have been appearing recently are linked to research carried out by the discredited Professor Denzile Dex and doubts about their safety have been raised.

Professor Dex has been missing for several years and it is widely believed that his sudden disappearance was connected to the 4EverYoung life-extension technology scandal. Allegations of shortcuts and the withholding of critical data were made following a spate of cases where users of the technology suffered various deforming and debilitating mutations. Dex vanished shortly before he was due to give evidence to the official inquiry investigating the allegations.

According to the latest story, research seized from Professor Dex at the time of the 4EverYoung scandal formed the basis of the design for a number of the latest Imperial prototypes including the Imperial Hammer and the Prismatic Shield Generators. Anecdotal reports of side effects from the new technology have already begun surfacing and a number of concerned groups have called for an official statement from the Senate about the leak.

One report claims that the harmonic adjustments in the design of the Prismatic Shield Generator can cause temporary cognitive impairment and even psychosis. Other reports link a form of high-level radiation emitted by the Imperial Hammer with increased rates of sterility and hormonal imbalances. One angry commentator even claimed it had caused him to develop female physical characteristics .

AISLING's 13th LEGION TAKES FIGHT TO ARCHON DELAINE

Last night forces loyal to Aisling Duval in the 13th Legion combat wing made a daring raid on 34 Pegasi, an Archon Delaine control system. To their credit, the Archon loyalists rallied their CMDR forces quickly, supplemented by combat veterans of the CODE pirate group.

Six pilots of the 13th Legion were involved in the assault, including CMDR's Nightshady, Lycan6Under, Andariel, Jeff Ryan, Derrida, and Kevin Massey. The Archon backed response team included such seasoned veterans as CODE CMDR's Majinvash and Gluttony Fang.

The Archon forces suffered heavy losses in the initial assault, with a Python, Vulture, and Viper being destroyed in various multi-ship dogfights, and CMDR Majinvash's battle hardened Anaconda received severe damage on multiple occasions although escaped complete destruction.

The Archon forces did inflict two smaller ship losses on the 13th Legion as the battles continued on for almost an hour. When asked why this assault was performed, CMDR Nightshady of the 13th Legion was quoted to say, "We fight for the People's Princess Aisling Duval against those who would terrorize the galaxy. Pirate groups like the CODE and those loyal to Archon Delaine need to realize that the 13th Legion is not intimidated by their strong-arm tactics."

Although no official response from the CODE or Archon's representatives has been made, CMDR Majinvash was recorded to have said in battle, "All will kneel before the might of Archon Delaine and the CODE."

Response of the citizens of 34 Pegasi to the battle in their home system has been mixed. Some expressed fear and surprise that Archon's forces could not prevent war from coming so deep into his territory in their home system. Others secretly expressed hope that the 13th Legion might continue to weaken the grasp that the pirate lord Delaine has over them.

-After sveral decades as a Freelancer member of the Federation of Pilots, CMDR "DarkStar" decided to unite a fleet of former pilots of both the Empire and the Federation, working closely with Commander "Equin0x" Commander DarkStar got them united under the objetive of forming a freelancer fleet to patrol the outer colonies and reforce their economy separating them from the major factions that try to, in words of CMDR Equin0x "Use them (the people of the outer colonies) to get cheap workers and materials, in conditions that are near to slavery"


Unaffiliated with any of the main factions, the so-called "Nova Fleet" had previously consisted of a loosely bound alliance of like-minded individuals occupying distant and relatively uncontrolled areas of the frontier. Recently however, buoyed by a sudden and significant influx of new membership, this growing collective has now piqued politicians' interest in both Imperial and Federation space.

An spokeperson of the Nova Fleet talked to us about their objetives:
"Nova Fleet wants to bring prosperity and security to the frontier of the human civilization, we are not willing to get involved in political matters with the big factions, even some of ours pilots belong to the empire's navy or the Feds, some are also part of the Alliance. But don't missunderstand us, our goal is to bring security to the outer colonies, if that means to fight against the Empire, the Feds or bloody aliens, then we'll do it."


Their influence and fame seems to spread fast, and with over 100 ships, their number of associates grows even faster.-

Title: GalNet Outage Under Investigation

Description:
Early this morning, the Galactic Network suffered a brief disruption of service. The disruption was localized to the deep space relays within Senator Lavigny-Duval’s jurisdiction. The disruption lasted approximately 6 hours, effectively isolating the region from the rest of civilized space. Investors with holdings within Senator Lavigny-Duval’s territory began selling off their stocks, some at a loss rates as high as 75%. This briefly caused assets within this sphere of influence to dip below even the modest holdings in Utopian space. When service was restored the markets began to recover.

Investigators have yet to uncover the true cause of the GalNet outage. In the absence of facts, some attribute the outage to a sub-faction of the Kumo Crew known as “The Code.” Recent Imperial incursions into Kumo Crew space as a part of “Operation Davy Jones” provide ample motive for a cyber attack. Until investigations are concluded and findings made public, speculation will reign.

Title: Origins of the Velites Squadron


Description:
The ancient proverb, “necessity is the mother of all invention,” remains true, even in 3301.


Commander Na’Qan came from humble beginnings as a miner in distant Imperial colonies. Piracy being rife in those systems, he found himself in their sights regularly. Knowing he could not outrun them in his unshielded Type-6, he learned to elude them. Like Br’er Rabbit’s briar patch, the asteroid fields offered him shelter. He learned to maneuver silently among the chaotic rocks and metals.


When war broke out in the Pancienses system, Na’Qan joined the fray. He recounted being interdicted by three Fer-de-Lances, and noticed they could not get a weapons lock on his craft. Immediately recognizing the relevance of his mining experience, Na’Qan approached his superiors with an idea. Shortly thereafter, Na’Qan began training wings for what would become the Velites Squadron. The stealthy, precision strikes of the Velites are quickly becoming legend.


For his service to the Empire, Commander Na’Qan is to be awarded the Imperial Order of Merit, First Class, from Senator Arrissa Lavigny-Duval at her headquarters in Kamadhenu this weekend.

Title - Alliance Enforcers Are Out of Control

Description:
A Kumo Crew CMDR by the name of Captain Hooch barely escaped with his life today after his Lakon Spaceways Type 9 was interdicted by two combat fit Pythons part of the Alliance Enforcers. They interdicted him and killed the thousands of innocent civilians aboard his ship.

The incident took place in 34 Pegasi on the way to Webb Port. The Alliance Enforcers chose the defenseless Type 9 out of all the Kumo Crew ships in the area. Instead of scanning it they immediately opened fire taking out its drives. Instead of trying to board the ship carrying thousands of innocent lives and free them the Alliance Enforcers continued to open fire blowing the ship up with approximately 5,280 innocent civilians stuffed into 528 one ton cargo containers with 10 to a container.

CMDR Captain Hooch sent an open letter to Alliance HQ blasting them for their cold blooded tactics.

When your enforcers interdicted me I understood. Were not on the friendliest of terms, but when they failed to scan my vessel they failed to find the thousands of Imperial Slaves I was smuggling into 34 Pegasi. These people aren't your enemy, they are innocent civilians. Sure I was making a quick credit off them. I remember after my drives went offline and all the warning lights went off. I scrambled to the escape pod having to hear the screams. I didn't have time to jettison the cargo hold as my power was offline at this point. It all happened so fast. Having to listen to them crying and screaming in horror as the ship began depressurize with Alliance Lasers blasting holes into my hull. I remember seeing the ship go up in flames as my escape pod flew off to safety and all I could think about is how these people were murdered. They were innocent, hell they were honorable men and women doing what they felt was necessary to uphold their good names. These aren't slaves we beat into submission from the general population. These are willing indentured servants working off the mistakes of their past that I purchased legally.. and now they are dead, not at my hands, or Delaine's hands, but yours. Is this the policy of the Alliance? Is this how Mahon deals with his enemies? Slaughtering thousands of innocents in attempt to take down one man in a defenseless ship who flies another flag? Or are these just rogue agents out of control acting beyond protocol? All I can say is I may be Kumo Crew, but I'm not that cold.

Description:
The past week witnessed the defection of high-ranking Imperial official, Commander McFergus. McFergus had been a member of Senator Lavigny-Duval’s military council before his defection to the Kumo Crew. Though stripped of the Imperial rank of King, it is unclear how much data he may have taken. His knowledge of fleet deployments, tactics, and experience within the upper echelons of the Empire constitute an unparalleled breach of security. Some speculate that his access to the deep space relays in Lavigny-Duval territory could have provided the Kumo Crew opportunity to briefly sever the region from the GalNet earlier this week, leading to panic in the financial sector during the outage.

Adding to his infamy, McFergus was spotted attacking Imperial forces in Kamocan, the homeworld of the Orden de Comandantes Imperiales. After a number of inconclusive engagements, Imperial trackers intercepted and destroyed McFergus’s ship in the Sopontet system of the Pegasi sector. Witnesses testified they did not see the pilot eject.

Description:
The inhabitants of Harma, Delaine's HQ made their voices heard today as they protested against the wings of Imperial forces who have been fighting Kumo ships in the system for the past month and a half. The protests come because while ships shot down belong to pirates, it is those same ships that bring supplies, credits and trade to the stations of Harma too meaning supplies are effectively being cut off from residents.

"They say they're here to liberate, but we never asked for saving," said one source based at Celebi. "They just turn up and shoot down ships in some deluded belief they're doing good, but it's just causing us problems. The Kumo Crew do exactly what anyone else does, they just don't follow certain laws and are considered outlaws for it."

Description
After the imperial offensive on Archon Delaine's aggressive expansion attempt to Cuchua, the 13th Legion under Aisling Duval wishes to pursue the matter further and challenges the Kumo Crew to an all-out multi-wing combat. Cmdr Derrida, representing the 13th Legion confirms that a large force is forming and advancing toward 34 Pegasi.

The confidence expressed in this announced offensive certainly alarms the Kumo Crew. As a part of the Kumo Crew and the first informed of such an alarming challenge, the Code scrambles to gather willing pilots to engage and counter this upcoming offensive. Out of consideration for 34 Pegasi, a well-known trading system, Archon Delaine personally issued an immediate evacuation for all non-combat personnel within the system.

The system security forces within 34 Pegasi and its neighboring systems are already progressing with evacuation efforts in preparation of the upcoming battle.

Far out on the rims edge, still flying her original sidewinder.............Commander Christina Jade was exploring a system with 'a dark star' ( for future mineral-mining claims), Her sensors picked up another ship...... "I was very surprised,I didn't expect to meet any one this far out, what was 'odd about this was,it kept flashing on and off my sensor screen". she reported,"As I approached to with in a few 'clicks' it vanished, and re appeared off to my port-side" she went on. "it was circular and silvery in colour, I couldn't see any marking or mechanical features, The whole ship was smooth.: she concluded," IT seemed ,to me, that the ship was checking me out,even taunting me: The SHip was MASSIVE in size, I was very concerned when I Jumped to Super cruise ,then into hyper space, it followed me, It continued to follow for 3 systems then completely vanished?". "I couldn't 'lock-on to it,because there was no IFF signal ."
A spokesperson for The Pilots Federation told Independent News Media That 'They are looking into this story, At this time they did not wish to comment".When pushed to question the authenticity of ship computer logs, Photo and video images.They again declined to comment. "At this time we are NOT taking this rumour very seriously ",
When questioned on ,Why the images and location had been made 'restrictive' and the Media refused access to the ships data/images. Phil Walsh,The spokesman for the Pilots Federation said "no comment"and immediately left the press meeting.
In conclusion ,The description of the ship in question matches the description of a unidentified ship reported 3 sol-calendar months ago by a Commander ,believed to be called 'Obsidian-ant'. As both Commanders are both on the outer -rim and have no contact with each other,does raise concern for the future safety of our brave explorers and once again,begs the age old question .Are we really alone out here?.

.THe 'All locations Signal' From Both Commanders took 3 weeks to reach 'localized 'space .Since then ,No further contact has been successfully made with either commanders .As no emergency location beacons have been transmitted we can only concude that both are still safe.

TerrCOmm Refineries announce the building and temp establishment of their new processing- factories in local mining areas and astoriod fields.
this will greatly improve miners work environments by allowing them to 'off load 'their minerals at our space factories and as they no longer have to travel to the systems major space port the 'turn around of ore and minerals will be greatly increased.
Other Refinery owners are up in arms and angry that this has been allowed to happen, In the past asteroid belts and other areas have been considered as neutral areas and other major corp companies have been refused building/licence permission to establish stations with in these restrictive areas,
a spokes person for TerrCOmm Refineries said it makes sense to take the risk,although a small one ,of collision with rocks etc,,Not only will it improve production ,It will allow a security force to be more present within these areas.
A second spokes person for the miners federation said"we welcome these changes, they are well over due".
anther spokes person representing Other major Compaanies voiced concern about Such a Big , Major company, such as, TerrCOmm Refineries monopolising the best producing areas
and could lead to "some ..un-pleasant reactions"..
On the commodities market there is growing concern that the cost of minerals and ore will dramatically drop and in doing so bring down the cost of producing goods ,such as combat apps, weapons and ships of mass destruction...

Princess Aisling's supporter Count Jeffrey Alexander spoke for a full hour today at Smoot Station on Chona. The speech was made principally to the Thirteenth Legion in support of Legate Andariel's peace treaty with at least one faction in support of the Federation's Shadow President Felicia Winters. It was also broadcast throughout Aisling controlled space in an effort to have the agreement gain more widespread support with all factions supporting Princess Aisling Duval. 'We stand for a cleaner more moral government in the Empire,' proclaimed the Count. 'Felicia Winters stands for cleaner more moral Federation.'

'Petty concerns drive our factions to open conflict with one another, but a moment's reflection on the issues at hand makes it clear our Princess and the Federation's Shadow President have more in common than differences that separate us. Let us remember there are pirates, slavers, criminals out there who warrant our wrath more than a woman who stands for helping those at the bottom of her own society. As we stand for helping those who deserve more in ours.'

The speech was well received within the Thirteenth Legion, but it's understood that on a wider basis not all share the Count's opinion. An opinion poll conducted shortly after the speech showed that most followers of Aisling Duval agreed with the sentiment, but a sizable faction did not. As one Commander reported, 'The only good Fed is a Dead Fed'.

Theft of Ancient Terran Artefacts?

Terra/Sol, July 13th 3301.

Reports from Commanders visiting the Sol systems indicate that the ancient Earth probes, Voyager 1 and 2, have disappeared. The two probes, hailing from the very dawn of Human spaceflight, had become popular destinations for travelers and tourists alike before vanishing.

"The Voyager proves are priceless artefacts, witnesses of our earliest forrays into space," Prof Claude Rakoto of the Antananarivo Institute commented. "Their theft would be a catastrophic loss for future generations."

"The probes are very iconic, and can't be sold on the black market. If they were indeed taken, it must have been on contract," he added.

Anybody with information about the probes should contact their local authorities.
