Title: Secrets of SPQR Revealed
Description: News concerning the player group SPQR that is intended to initiate our story with plans on follow up entries including more storyline entries, events, and community goals.

Story/News Entry:
Not to long ago, some interesting information concerning a Patreus supporting group, Senatus Populusque Romanus, was released but to be cut short by pilots of SPQR destroying the informant and his ship.

The informant was able to send a voice comm transmission stating that SPQR has been progressing on a master plan designed by not the leader of SPQR, Mongo Sensi, but by someone or something referred to as the Fortis et Umbra, the Shadow Warrior. Also revealed, the Fortis et Umbra actually was the one who created SPQR and appointed Mongo Sensi as its leader.

Reporters contacted Mongo Sensi hoping for more on the revealed information. However, Mongo Sensi only said that Fortis et Umbra has no intentions on becoming a power and will continue progress on his plans.

Title: Royal Reconciliation

Description:
Many have speculated that the recent turbulence in the Duval family has led to tense relations between its branches. With Imperial wedding preparations in full swing, Aisling Duval seized a moment and reached out to her aunt, Arissa Lavigny-Duval.

Aisling’s recounting of the conversation struck a conciliatory tone, “I don’t wish for there to be a wedge between the branches of our family tree. There is no room for bad blood in the royal family. My aunt Arissa and I have mostly interacted in the political arena. Today we took a stroll around the beautiful gardens here at the Capitol, and we just talked. Not about anything in particular. It was some much needed bonding time, you know? As we talked, I came to the conclusion that if she does become Empress some day, I think she will be one of the most just and engaged leaders this Empire has ever seen. I can follow someone like her. Besides, I’m young, and my day may still come."

Title:

Mining Communities face constant danger.

Description:

CMDR's located in various systems have reported an increase in dangerous criminal activity in and around RES sites.

Pirates and opportunist thieves are reported as carrying out Guerilla tactics against mining teams. This is culminating in a high loss of earnings meaning these peaceful citizens are choosing to cease their operations.
Reporters have questioned the authorities regarding their apparent lack of actions and an undisclosed source has stated "Whilst these activities are being dealt with by the authorities, the speed and ferocity with which these activities are carried out means we reach less than 10% of reported attacks".
Government sources have refused to comment leaving speculation that they do not have the resources to deal with the problem.
CMDR's have been reported as taking 'matters into their own hands', and have begun taking these criminals down, facing the prospect of being on 'the wrong side of the law'.

Title: Corporate forces oust communists in Alkaid

Description: Entering the fourth day of renewed combat, the fighting in Alkaid reached a crescendo when Purple Central & Co combat wings breached Matthewson High's perimeter defense and conducted a boarding operation. This marked the fall of last station in control of the Movement for Alkaid Unionists, and leaving dictatorial Order of Alkaid the last faction besides the belligerent corporation to hold stations in the system.

"The board of directors is very pleased to report this positive development to our shareholders and investors. Synergy between corporate security forces and independent solo commanders has enabled us to achieve near complete dominance of the Alkaid sector, and our projections for the future quarter remain profitable, even in the face of war reparations to restore critical functions. We offer our heartfelt thanks to brave pilots who have helped us to reduce influence of advocates of abnormal and detrimental property arrangements." Purple Central & Co PR department detailed the situation in their press release.

Title: Operation Pest Control Decimates Archon Delaine Forces

Description: Archon Delaine forces recently invaded the Imperial system of Gelong. To their surprise they encountered not only local resistance forces, but also multiple wings of commanders pledged to Denton Patreus. Delaine's forces have been decimated and forced to retreat.

Further investigation on what happened in the system has revealed, that Emperor's Grace and SPQR initiated Operation Pest Control, which is a part of a United Imperial Offensive into the Pegasii Sector as a follow up to Operation Davy Jones, conducted by Lavigny's Legion forces, as part of a continuing response to Archon Delaine's invasion of multiple Imperial systems.

Varrwen Mako Brennus, leader of Emperor's Grace, gave a Press Conference from Achenar, where he is attending the Imperial Wedding stating that "Archon thought he can invade the Empire and get away with it. He is going to suffer. This is just the start."

Expedition to circumnavigate the Galaxy

- Description – This should be no more than 150 words

The First Great Expedition (FGE) is announcing that their long awaited major voyage of discovery will commence on Saturday 1st August 3301.

A flotilla will formally launch the voyage from Sol, the ancestral home of humanity, and proceed to Brackett Orbital in the HIP 83716 system where it will rendezvous with the main fleet.

The first leg of the voyage will be to the Lagoon Nebula where the fleet will establish a base camp and explore the surrounding area. Over the next 12 months the fleet will follow the Sagittarius-Carina arm to Beagle Point on the far side of the galaxy.

"We will progress in a pace that allows for careful charting of the unknown regions of the galaxy. If you want to race you should sign up for Buckyball instead", says CMDR Gibbonici of the FGE. He continues: "The expedition will establish meetups at regular intervals along the route, allowing explorers to form up in wings. This is a chance for explorers to work together and be part of something bigger".

From Beagle Point the fleet will return, exploring sections of the Scutum-Centaurus, Cygnus, and Perseus arms until a complete circumnavigation of the galaxy has been accomplished.

When asked how to deal with the prolonged stay in deep space one commander answered: "Our previous research voyages have given us a lot of practice in handling this. I'm confident that together we can pull this off. Also, I'll plant a vegetable garden in my empty cargo hold and bring a pair of Zosi Cybercats for company."

Applications for participation are still open and the expedition will be reported through press releases, blogs and live video feeds.

The People's Princess achieves the #1 rating amid losing stakes in HIP 95256.

24 July, 3301 (within turn 8)

The People's Princess achieves the #1 rating amid losing stakes in HIP 95256.

In the last few days before galactic power polls closed on the morning of July 24, HIP 95256 saw sudden increase in opposition to the expansion of Aisling Duval supporters into the system. The media takeover was otherwise going well until reports of disrupted sealed contract shipments came flooding in within a short amount of time. Aisling loyalists were not able to respond to the sudden turn of events due to the internal dispute with commanders supporting future expansion into Phra Mool.

"The Phra Mool supporters refused to accept that staging a campaign towards Sol in our current situation would only serve to compromise the power as a whole," stated Garret Neuville-Throne, a Seraph of Aisling's Angels. "We had to secure several other systems to prevent the Phra Mool preparation from succeeding. Bulk of our commanders were indisposed with that task preventing them from providing additional manpower to operations in HIP 95256. Phra Mool would have been doomed to fail either way even if preparations to expand into the system succeeded given its close proximity to other powers but its successful preparation would have cost us a lot of valuable resources." Commander GNThrone was unable to entertain any more questions and had to depart early to address the plans for Aisling Duval in the coming week.

Aisling's Angels and several Aisling Duval loyalists are determined to expand into HIP 95256 despite the fact that they are unable to proceed with preparations for the system this week. HIP 95256 was projected to bolster the resources of the power significantly, however other systems in the cluster will not provide the same benefit HIP 95256 will give. For the mean time, fortification of systems is the priority for the week until polls close on Thursday, July 30; HIP 95256 will have to wait until the power accumulates enough resources to take it.

Despite dropping in ratings the previous week, Aisling Duval springs to the #1 position after 6 weeks of struggling to take the spot. The feat is largely thanks to all the commanders who supported her despite several unexpected turn of events along the way. Loyalists were delighted to hear the news of Aisling's success in the early hours of July 24 with many initially finding it hard to believe. Commander Corrigendum, an ambassador from Arissa Lavigny-Duval, publicly congratulated Aisling loyalists for bringing Aisling Duval to #1 alongside Arissa Lavigny-Duval who holds the #2 rating. On a separate occasion, Commander UFeindschiff, an ambassador from Zachary Hudson, also congratulated Aisling supporters and encouraged them to continue the fight against slavery and for human rights.

The People's Princess left a statement congratulating all her supporters for their most recent achievement and apologizes for being unable to thank everyone personally. Her loyalists are hoping to see her appear in public to share her words regarding the recent developments in her success.

Title: Empire shuns Ochoeng and plague systems

Insiders report that Delaine has sent several of the Kumo Crew to investigate what devastation the plague has caused. He is said to be concerned that many of the systems affected are independent and there is little effort by the Empire to stem the tide. Several Kumo Crew commanders have offered their own vessels to ferry medical supplies, and question why so many credits are spent in war against them but not against this disease.

They ask, does the empire know more about this plague than it is revealing to the citizenry. Commander Withnail visited an affected system, "Conditions at Roddenberry Station are awful. They need medicines and they need them fast. People here are asking why there is no help from the Imperial Powers. Is the Empire only concerned with power grabs and inner politics?"

Title: Mandhrithar Successfully Defended!

Description:

An independent system of 14 billion people has recently suffered intense conflict.

Mandhrithar is currently influenced by the faction Mandhrithar Services. A group of mercenaries known as the Independent Pilots Consortium, or IPC, moved in before 'MS' took control of the system to help bolster their trade and security. While the system has a huge population, these tenacious pilots have dedicated themselves to serving these citizens.

Recently, the IPC successfully completed a contract against Zemina Torval which angered some of her pilots. In reaction, these pilots declared 'open season' on Mandhrithar and were determined to take it in Torval's name. The IPC isn't anti-Empire but they are anti-slavery and were determined to oppose this assault. For a week Torval pilots took "political prisoners" from Mandhrithar while IPC pilots shot down and killed all Torval supporters in system, prisoners or not.

With the support of allies, the perseverence of the IPC was able to fend of Torval for now. (149 words)"

"Full" Story

"An independent system of 14 billion people has recently suffered intense conflict.

Mandhrithar is an agricultural system that is currently influenced by the faction Mandhrithar Services. A group of mercenaries known as the Independent Pilots Consortium, or IPC, moved in before 'MS' took control of the system to help bolster their trade and security. While the system has a huge population, these tenacious pilots have dedicated themselves to serving these citizens.

Recently, the IPC took and successfully completed a contract against Zemina Torval in HIP 29256 which angered some of her pilots. In reaction, these pilots declared 'open season' on Mandhrithar and were determined to take it in Torval's name. While the IPC is not anti-Empire and have even taken contracts to support the Empire, they are anti-slavery and took this as an act of aggression and were determined to oppose this assault. For a week, Torval pilots took "political prisoners" from Mandhrithar while IPC pilots shot down and killed all Torval supporters in system, prisoners or not.

Their anti-slavery stance and "shoot-on-sight" mentality has been controversial. Several hundred civilians died as a result and thousands of Torval supporters also perished due to their actions. However the IPC defends their actions, claiming these prisoners would only suffer their whole lives in Torval's jail-cells, or worse.

While it seems that Torval supporters have backed off for now due to fierce opposition, the future of Mandhrithar and her surrounding systems remains a question. Mandhrithar Services holds onto three systems currently and will likely continue to grow if the IPC remains however, with the recent conflict the area is suffering greatly. Civil unrest is rife as a result of IPC and Torval actions and Mandhrithar has recently seen a huge influx of immigration. The population has more than trippled in the past two months and with the civil wars and unrest there are many suffering."

Title: Federation Secession Crisis

Description:
Debate continues to rage in local governments throughout the Pegasi sector over Senator Lavigny-Duval's invitation to become Imperial citizens. The debate has reached a fevered pitch in some systems.

"Our petitions for assistance from the Federation have fallen on deaf ears for months now. I’m tired of the demonizing epithets cast at “Imperial slavers” while Federation citizens are being forcibly carried away into slavery by the Kumo Crew. Hudson and Winters are nothing but spineless cowards and hypocrites,” spat the enraged governor of the Wudjal system. “The Wudjal system is home to more Federation citizens than the entire Imperial population occupied by the Kumo Crew. Until the Federation honours its commitments to us, we will not send a single credit to Sol. I recommend that every governor in the Pegasi sector open an Imperial embassy. At least Imperial citizenship means something."

A note for the Community reps to bring up with the Devs:
What are the chances you could seed the Wudjal system with a minor Imperial faction for added effect? It's not a necessity, but I think it would make for a nice touch.

Title : Fuel Rats strike again !
Description : After saving someone 7000 Light-Years away, saving people with less than 46 seconds of emergency oxygen remaining and the awe-inspiring "Operation Neospike" where a refuel relay took place over a 3.500LY span and using more than 500 tons of fuel, the daring Commanders pertaining to the Fuel Rats' Mischief went on to perform another incredible rescue :
CMDR <Redacted> got stranded in the PLIELEAE TZ-R A86-3 system, a mere 18.000 LY away from our little corner of space. Three Rats took upon themselves to power-up their drives and scoop their way over there while racing one another -a common custom among Rats- during what ended up being more than 8 to 12 hours of straight flying. Arriving in-system was another 500.000 Light-Seconds travel to be made, but distance means nothing to the Fuel Rats and so the stranded commander was rescued in the end.
All in all, the three commanders flew over 50.000LY to make this happen, stating the following at the end : "We didn't do it alone, though : we had logistical and communication support from multiple other Rats and if we hadn't volunteered there were more Rats waiting for the chance to take this Trip. You All Rock."

Title: Pegasi Intervention Sparks Debate at Home.

Description:
Unaffiliated supporters of Arissa Lavigny-Duval have today voiced concerns at rumours of an escalating intervention in the Pegasi Sector on the part of Lavigny's Legion.

Discussion of the the highly publicised plight of Imperial citizens living in volumes of space controlled by Archon Delaine's Kumo Crew dominated newsfeeds and social media throughout Kamadhenu over the weekend. Opinion is split on the humanitarian value of an intervention in a region perceived by some as extremely remote.

Speaking anonymously one commander said: "I don't understand why the Legion is wasting time with a foreign backwater like the Pegasi Sector. I'd never even heard of it before. We've got our own problems with corrupt Dictatorships and greedy Corporations right here at home; we need to clean up the Empire before we try cleaning up the whole Galaxy!".

Another commentator had this to say: "Liberating Imperial citizens under the threat of Bonded Slavery is a good cause. Senators Torval and Patreus have holdings closer to the Pegasi Sector, sure, but sadly I don't think we can rely on those two to protect our fellow citizens".

Anger erupted when it was revealed that diplomatic overtures had been made towards the Federation in regards to confronting the Kumo Crew.

It was later made clear that Lavigny's Legion itself took no part in any talks with envoys of Shadow President Felicia Winters or President Zachary Hudson. A diplomat for Aisling Duval's Aisling's Angels confirmed their own attendance at talks.

The suggestion that Arissa Lavigny-Duval's supporters might be pulled into joint operations with either Hudson or Winters has resurfaced deeply held anti-Federation sentiment, with reports of at least one commander plotting a course to Sol in a well armed vessel in response to the rumours.

Title: Imperial High Command Organised

Description:
In response to Emperor Hengist Duval’s call for unity, numerous high-ranking Imperial Naval Officers from around the Empire have come together to organise an Imperial High Command. The establishment of the Imperial High Command was approved by a majority of senators in Achenar this week.

While still its organizational framework is still being hammered out, the IHC has already begun to foster understanding and dispel distrust. An increased level of coordination among the Imperial fleets is anticipated as an offshoot of the IHC.

Commanders throughout the Empire can expect greater transparency in internal Imperial matters.

After some combats, the mercenaries suffered some losses and fled the system. Title: Plague Fighters

Description:

Due to a recent and unrelentless streak of plagues cropping up around the Frontier worlds, the Dukes of Mikunn have mobilized their employees, the Mercenaries of Mikunn to affected systems in an attempt to assist local goverments in quelling the plagues.

Having faced a plague similar to that affecting current star systems for weeks, the massive amount of stockpiled medicine will now be moved to affected systems along with medical scientists in hopes of finding the source of the plague. Fighter wings have also been scrambled to provide safe passage for pilots carrying medicine and to enforce quarantine on local citizens.

When asked about the extreme measures they are employing the younger brother of the Dukes, Caius, stated that, and I quote:

"When we had to deal with the infamous plague of HR 7327 our thoughts went to the people first and foremost, but by not locking down the system and enforcing quarantine the plague had spread to all nearby systems. For weeks we had to deal with the same plague in Mikunn, Sukua and Sefry's on top of HR 7327. It was then that we realized that enforcing a quarantine would benefit the people more than not enforcing one. The current spread of the epidemic is due to the failure of the powers to act in the best interest of their own people."

Mercenary wings are expected to arrive later today and will remain within the affected systems until the outbreak has been dealt with.

Title: "Kumo Crew join efforts to counter plague"

Description:
In a move that has surprised a few, members of the Kumo Crew - most often portrayed as selfish and evil murderers - have announced intentions to join in with the galactic efforts to help contain and cure the ongoing Cerberus Plague. They urged people across space to "Make a real difference and put aside your political squabbles" in the name of helping those in need.

The announcement was met with skepticism from many opposing commanders, but the pirates involved are not put off by this; only disappointed by the response.

"We're damned if we pirate and we're still damned if we help, it's absurd," said the leader of the efforts, Commander Mikalus. "Surely with people dying in great numbers this is not the time to be refusing help? This isn't about politics. We will help, no matter what other people think we're up to."

Title:
Cuchua Speaks: "Let Us Decide"

Story:
Cuchua has been a hotspot in recent weeks as the centre of ongoing conflict between Senator Patreus and Delaine's Kumo Crew. Patreus managed to get a foothold to expand last week; yet failed to expand to it despite the pirates being otherwise engaged. Reports are now emerging that Cuchua is aching for a change of government.

"Imperial life is not all sunshine, despite what you might hear from the Empire." an unnamed source told Galnet. "Imperial Slavery is just a welfare program? What sort of welfare involves the loss of personal liberty? We're tired of having to count our credits, of living in fear of the Imperial Bailiffs turning up in their prisoner transport ships and carrying away one of the family for years at a time."

When asked about the slaver reputation of the other side, our unnamed source just shrugged. "Leave the pirates alone, they leave you alone."

Commander:
Cmdr Predicted Cy

Considering the Imperial High Command Galnet post, and given that the IHC plan to wipe out Archon Delaine, could this one be considered for balance?

Thanks.
