Playing Elite with Google Cardboard

Yes, it could work (1024), because it is almost 8:9. Your screen is 1920x1080. Half of screen is 960x1080, so you need that. You will have pixel-in-pixel alingment.

Thanks! You were right, of course. 960X1080 improved the experience further :) I run "Very high" quality in Trinus. Do you have "Fast resampling" on or off?

One set of colour cross are on their way!
Thank you :)
all I need now is a decent PC to make it work faster... and a Note 4 wouldn't be too shabby!

So, who do we have to bribe at FD to get 8:9 resolutions included in SBS 3D?

create ticket and write here. More people is better! ;)

Galaxy Note 4 or LG G3 should be best for colorcross.
Both have 5+ screen and 2,5K resolution.

for headtracking, you can use smartphone gyroscope (builtin in trinus) or latest (RC2) version of opentrack. New OT track has gyro-tracking too.

What do eye doctors and optometrists say?
Is this thing safe or us grown ups or our kids will end up blind?

Definately not for childrens below 7 or 12 (i dont remember age, but i read about it).
If you have wrong calibrated lenses - i think it could make eye worse for adult too.

Colorcross. I have 3.
- cardboard - looking like girls via keyhole, but compatibile with cardboard apps with correction for cardboard lenses
- opendive - a piece of crap - worse of all
- colorcross - the best. large lenses, but preffered screen size 5-6" - LG G3 or note4.Lenses are different than cardboard, so some cardboard apps looks crappy. For gaming, or apps without lens correction they are the best price.

I've only tried the Durovis OpenDive and I think it's OK...but then again, I dont have much to compare it with, but I'd assume it's better than folded cardboard...

I have the Homido headset incoming, which is a new headset on the market. I hope it's good...I'll report back later in the week :)

Oh, I thought that because this setup would connect to your PC directly by HDMI cable (both screen controller boards have HDMI connecters) you would get far better response times and higher fps than connecting by Wi-Fi or USB Tethering, I also thought you would be able to get full 1920x1080 if you used the second screen I found as the graphics card would see this setup as a second screen. Add to that the fact you are using a dedicated head tacking module (all be it a DIY one) instead of using the phone movement censers you should get better, more responsive head-tacking? I was never expecting it to be as good as the DK2 but I was hoping it'd be better than using a Cell Phone as a screen.:S

I might be wrong with the panels etc. As far as I'm aware though, the LVDS ones can't actually do 1080p or better, they are just upscaling something lower. If it's not the case then I've definitely missed a trick :D
That one you linked though does go to lengths to make it clear it's able to do more. I dunno... try it and see I guess :)

Can anyone tell me, is it possible to stream ED to my LG G3 without splitting the screen in half and just having it display the monitor output so I can play ED using my phone as the monitor and the gyro in my phone for head tracking?

Thanks.

The Mrs asked "Hober what do you want for xmas?" I thought to myself this may be a good chance to wind her up (knowing money is tight) so I began showing her the oculus rift on the web, her not being a gamer she wasn't that impressed, then came the question of how much it cost. her eyes nearly popped out of her head, she began saying what waste, I explained to her to calm down, what I actually wanted was the colorcross for 30 quid!

Now I just have to wait till Xmas evening once everyone has gorged themselves on rich food and drink and begin napping on the sofa to sneak off to the offic and strap my oculus thrift on and travel in space like never before!

Got this working on my setup

Im getting around 22 to 29fps in the station but im getting a lot of screen tearing on the phone, the actual game itself is fine on the monitor but jittery on the phone.

Ive noticed that the transfer speed only says 129kb/s is this correct, seems like a small amount of data being streamed to the phone. (im using USB tethering)

Anyone got any ideas on how to reduce the screen tearing?

I have my settings set to Low for video quality, buffering on and Fast resampling

Im using USB tethering.

The strange thing is the best i seem to get is 30fps peaks at 129kb/s and then it drops to 22fps and back up again, it doesnt seem to be able to keep a steady data flow for some reason?

My monitor is displaying a constant 60fps so its strange that the frame rate drops so low on the phone?

its streaming 1920x1080 monitor to 1920x1080 on the phone

If only there was a way to keep the FPS at 30 the game would be pretty much playable!

Now that Gamma has full Freetrack support, there is no longer a need for Opentrack. Just set Trinus Gyre server sensor to Freetrack and Elite works out of the box. I get a tiny bit of glitching, but that might be some setting here.

You dont need a trinus, just opentrack and limelight, everything free - and it works better ;)
I will make tutorial for VR today/tomorrow with opentrack and limelight
