I support the intra-system jumps, always have. With current exploration system they are far less needed, but still. For now you're advised to check the mission details, with most missions the distance from the main star is detailed. But some missions do not contain this info - like assassination missions, planetary surface missions etc.. For those you're best to just skip them if they are in systems with far-away secondary stars. I always check the system when taking on such missions. If you stay in one place for a longer time (choose your base of operations) you'll learn these systems by heart pretty quick and there won't even be a need to check any more.
BTW, assassination missions (pre 3,3?) have a high chance of your target interdicting you, so you can take these on without much risk. If you're not interdicted just jump out and back to regenerate the mission.
