Please DO NOT create any more Elite games in the future.

I just feel this needs to be said. You all have no concept of rewarding the time that your player base spends in the game. You have largely ignored the most requested features and the only time your company takes action is to nerf player progression or mission payouts. You will do anything to protect the status quo of excessive grinding in this "game". As if people have not discovered that your "game" has no meaningful content.

Frontier Games has no understanding of what it means to create an actual game. You have no understanding of player enjoyment, you have no understanding of reward mechanisms, etc. Tedium, stress, excessive repetition and RNG etc are not what people play games for. You lie in your own updates about mechanics working as intended, put as intended in your eyes really only equates to "as slow as possible" "We have no content but need to show our shareholders that gamers spent hours within our environment." "Even if the time spent has not been enjoyable."

Two years is enough.. I am tired of feeling punished for trying to enjoy what little your "game" offers. You have sold your game on false advertising. The preview videos for ED contain no trucking, no repetition, no RNG, no mindless hours searching USSs and planetoids for exceedingly rare materials etc. Your videos falsely advertise the real experience of ED. Your supposed game is the embodiment of frustration. It is obvious your developers do not play this "game".

Please do not make any more continuations to the Elite series. Thank you.

no it's more like this we need more baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasse [yesnod]

Wow. That's a lot of rage there. I think you need to take a few steps back and a few deep breaths because you just vented yourself right off the rails. It's fine to not like the game for whatever reason, but loudly yelling that no one anywhere likes it and everything you do is awful and you should all vanish and never make anything again because I hate you so much is way way too far.

If there wasn't a game here you wouldn't have invested that two years into doing stuff with it and having something change in it wouldn't anger you. Do yourself a favor and back off and cool yourself down.

Frontier has some of the most talented art and sound people in the industry in my opinion. And they do pretty good AI too.

Welp, I'm off for bedtime.

I get irritated with the direction the game takes at times, but why would you want to stop a talented group of game developers from making another Elite game? There aren't enough games like Elite: Dangerous out there. As for the videos, yeah, they're silly because 10 minutes into the game, you realize none of the highly rendered, cinematic sequences are going to happen, with few even possible at this point. There's no excuse for that, even though most game developers puff up their feathers when trying to sell their game, but it's nothing new. As far as I'm concerned, Elite: Dangerous is Microsoft Flight Simulator in space. Could it be more? Certainly, and it may very well be more because the developers do have an idea of where they wish to go over the next couple of years. Only time will tell if that bears out, of course, but it's not like they've abandoned the game.

Do you know why so many people love Star Citizen even though it doesn't yet actually exist? Because it promises everything anyone could ever want in a futuristic space simulator. Unfortunately, as we've seen, the game isn't anywhere near finished, and so much money has been sunk into it, you could have made 50 versions of Elite: Dangerous. I figure it's best to take a break for a while if you're not finding the game satisfying. You're obviously free to leave feedback, but excoriating FDev for not making everything work exactly as it should is unreasonable. There are games with tens of millions of players, and I guarantee you they get thousands upon thousands of unsatisfied customers who feel the same way that you do. Not everyone is going to be pleased.

To quote the poet John Lydgate, "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time."

Sadly I have to (mostly) agree with the sentiment of the OP. There are a lot of things in this game that I like, both on a conceptual level and implementation level. But all those things are overshadowed by major and persistent flaws. From tacked on unfinished content to obnoxious bugs to major barriers to entry, 90% of my time in game is spent doing stuff I don't enjoy. I would be willing to live with the latter, if the devs were willing to acknowledge such issues and sincerely address player feedback, but they don't. They keep making issues like powercreep, pvp barriers to entry, and half finished content worse. All while talking on the livestream about how painfully broken gameplay mechanics like the engineers are "pretty good" and just need a "little adjustment to be even better." They so obviously don't play the game, and are basing all their decisions off of their own view of how the game works, which is not in-line with how it actually works for most players.

FDev seem to really want to make a good game, but they just aren't able to get over themselves and admit that they have made some terrible mistakes.

If you go to any gaming forum you are going to find what you have written - you could have almost copy/pasted this. Congrats you are part of the problem instead of the solution.

OP, PLEASE show me a better space game out right now.... I'll wait... there are none. So walk away from your keyboard and come back when you have cooled off.

There should be a rule on the forum.

Before you create a rage post, close the game, turn off the PC, go for a walk. Pet your dog, have a cup of tea. Tell your wife you love her and watch some nice movie together.
Then turn on your PC again, fire up the forums and try to formulate things that frustrate you about the game with structure and integrity.

FDev seem to really want to make a good game, but they just aren't able to get over themselves and admit that they have made some terrible mistakes.

What's worse is they continue to repeat design mistakes. They'll do a bunch of really great improvements but then return to a very bad mistake they've made before and undo a lot of progress. I really have a difficult time understanding some of the decisions they make from a design point of view.

I love the franchise, have since 1984, but sometimes Elite Dangerous makes me feel like I have battered housewife syndrome going on.

Did I get that right? You spent two years, playing a not-game, with no content, no fun gameplay, no rewarding mechanices, which offers only tedium stress and excessive repetition?

Yeah I usually give a game a week at most, and if I'm still not enjoying it at the end of a week I stop playing. Went through a lot of games that way, still playing ED after 18 months.
