Please FD, just roll it back. We can all wait for it to be ready...

ah I see, sorry. lol. Yeh, nah, I'm going to carry on sharing my opinion and telling all 10 of you who think the game is ok how wrong you are. kk? I mean literally, I don't know if all you've done is get out of a ship and look at the sky, but wake up, the game is hopelessly broken, look at the other threads! Read about the problems I'm having in just the last 2 pages!

I also never mentioned the performance issues I don't think, or maybe once, there are far bigger issues than that. I too am using a Ryzen 3700x and a 2080ti, performance for me is ok, but I wouldn't DARE to say it's all good when people who can't spend 2 grand on their PC are unable to play the game. Good reading job, well considered post, gg. :)
You can tell me everything you like. If I am having these issues some time, I will agree, but until that, there is nothing you can say, that makes me change my mind.

So, what is the actual point,
because when I try to put the title of thread with some of late posts.

I have impression that people here seem to notoriously ignore the fact,
there is "a bit" of space between

"game is OK"
and
"FD needs to scrap EDO and roll everything back to Horizons state"

Aashenfox, may you can open a ticket with the Video? My Beams also just work when they want it seems. Would be nice that this will be fixed considering shooting is a little basic function in ED.

Btw. this Bug and that it´s not possible to get out of the Galaxie/System Map fast with HOTAS (scroll down stuck 4 times) is so annoying to me, that I just play Hunt and wait until this is fixed. For the Galaxie/System Map, would be nice if it´s possible to scroll UP to exit button.
I was going to open a ticket on this after it happened but to be perfectly honest I'd run out of energy and didn't do it for the following reasons:
  • How would I even describe what is happening here?
  • It's not just that the lead reticule is broken, our positioning and vectors in the instance are completely broken which results in myself and Salty Canadian both reversing on each other at high speed, while on our own clients we're boosting forwards. Is this connected to the reticule problem, or is broken multiplayer instancing a separate issue?
  • I've heard of it happening for other people but it doesn't seem guaranteed or we'd have much greater uproar about it so -
  • What are the factors to reproduce?
  • Is this a multiplayer problem?
  • Does it just happen around stations?
  • How much testing would I need to do to recreate these conditions, for a robust bug report that accurately describes the problem to get it fixed, rather than leave it as an intermittent problem that will crop up every now and then and totally break any PvP interaction?
Then to add on to this:
  • Since Odyssey came out I've created 17 issues on the tracker. Before then I only had 3, in years of playing Elite.
  • The tracker is broken so I can't tell you how many separate issues I've contributed to, because that page doesn't work for me, but it is also a very decent number of things which I've found to be broken, went to see if I needed to make an issue for, and found there was one already.
  • I've had to start managing and removing my limited number of votes to raise an issue in profile, because apparently that's how Frontier want us to tell them which problems are worth fixing and which ones they should ignore - which frankly I find insulting.
  • The issue tracker is so swamped I don't know how much attention is being paid to what goes on there. There's over 26,000 issues on the tracker. Around 7,000 of them are attached to Odyssey live release builds. On top of this, there will be issues attached to the Horizons build that have been posted since Odyssey launch and may relate directly to the way that Odyssey is impacting Horizons. So approximately a quarter to a fifth, maybe even more, of the issues on the tracker for all time are specific to live Odyssey launch impacting gameplay.
  • If I can't get people to consistently reproduce and complain about an issue, if it doesn't have an active and angry player group pushing it, then issues drop off and get ignored, end up expired and don't get touched - even before Odyssey was out. Now looking at the numbers - things are even worse, with even more issues sinking to obscurity because of how the issue tracker uses public outrage to incentivise developer response to problems.
  • Odyssey is full release, it wasn't sold to us to play as beta testers finding and fixing all these problems.
So you're welcome to use mine and Salty's footage to make a bug report if you want to, though I'll have to DM you my perspective because it will get moderated if I post it because I say in it. Which is clearly too much for the pearl clutchers that want to tell us that they've not had any problems at all, stop complaining.
everyone, so what is your opinion on plasma accelerators?
This isn't just an issue with plasma accelerators - the lead reticule is used by other weapons, including frags, pacifiers and multicannons. I first heard of people having this issue with complaints about aiming pacifiers.

That is literally what the title of the thread is suggesting.

Now let's just take a step back and calm things down a little please everyone.
No it's not, you're assuming that and not reading the words that I have written, just like the others. You're entitled to the assumption on first glance, but when I deny that this is what I am suggesting and I have explained myself multiple times, you and the others would be intellectually dishonest to suggest that I am trying to take something away. I do not see why a rollback needs to take anything away. Delay it a little longer perhaps.

If I gave you a choice, planets like this forever, or wait another 6 months for Odyssey rerelease, what would you prefer? Genuine question...

Seems like Barnard kinda ninja'ed me and hyperjumped with answer to my question with 0 waiting time.
Good work.

How did you manage to conclude these are (only) possible scenarios at all?
Honest question, is it based on FD's feedback/sources or just daydreaming?

Hard crash on exit.

All of this, I admire your willingness to outline it all.

FD have specifically said 'we don't want to reroll the odyssey planets', that doesn't mean they won't but it means we need to be extremely vocal about it, and I dunno, call for outrageous things like rollbacks so they get teh message ;)

Perhaps you would like me to change the title of the thread then, so it's more aligned to what you actually mean, as opposed to what you actually wrote. Which are apparently different.

You question is flawed and leading, so it's pointless answering it because it's a binary choice that makes no sense.

No, I'm very happy with teh thread title thanks, it had exactly the effect I wanted and it doesn't need to match perfectly with the evolution of the discussion, if people come along assuming things that have already been clarified, I will happily point them to the relevant posts. :) And no, it is not my question that is flawed, it is your assumed interpretation of it, despite my having clarified myself.

Arf said 'don't wanna reroll planets'...what do you think about that? Is that a straightforward enough question for you?

This would be fine, except Elite was already a watered down multiplayer experience, due to the size of space and the small fraction of people who play mainly in open. Keeping Odyssey available to play will make it the default go-to option for most players, fracturing the playerbase.

I don't negate any of issues listed here, but title of thread should not be contradictory to the agenda of content.
It's not good for credibility.

Non eof thos points are mutually exclusive, what's your point?

Listen, can we PLEASE get back to the topic instead of ing and whining about syntax?

Yes it can. Who makes these rules? And it's not at all far from the point either, to be called ambiguous. Dude, please, can we talk about the game now?
