Sure.Yes it can. Who makes these rules? And it's not at all far from the point either, to be called ambiguous. Dude, please, can we talk about the game now?
Thanks for being respectful, please allow me to respectfully try to change your mind... Frontier has stated that they don't want to reroll planets. And how many patches do you think it will take? Also, how long will we have to play in two different games, because rightly, nobody who hasn't already should buy odyssey.I want to be moving forwards, not backwards.
I respectfully disagree with this rollback.
I didn't have as much a problem with the ship mat grind as I do for the weapons one. In fact, I've stopped actively trying to obtain the necessary EDO mats, because the numbers involved seem arbitrary and too high quite often, it's like they used RNG to determine those. Thankfully I realised that even with a stock G2 AR-50 and 'freebie' G3 Aphelion, at least low-CZ NPCs seem easy/quick to dispose of. Need to check in higher CZs but Frontier seem to have hidden very well in their lovely new UI what level those CZs are, so I didn't bother yet to try them. But having checked out the engineering recipes on Inara I've come to realise I really don't want to go through all that effort to get marginal improvements on my suits and weapons (I still don't have enough mats for my Maverick's backpack capacity upgrade, I've been playing daily since launch but I don't log/grind out mats, I find this very dull). And the only other mod I'm interested in (night vision) is behind a pretty substantial grind wall it seems, i.e. I'd need to unlock several engineers first. CBA.Frontier don't want people to be able to relog to grind mats like they do at Dav's Hope, but Frontier haven't learned that the reason people do this is because people don't like the mat grind. So instead they've broken the game so that if you get a disconnect, or need to relog due to a bug (which there are plenty of), it breaks everything including the mission you're on.
I'm also in the camp of main game PvPers that has reached the point with Odyssey where I won't play it due to the bugs and flaws inherent in Odyssey gameplay, irrespective of Horizons/the state of PvP (which, we've heard of plenty of issues effecting Horizons as well, not least splitting the player base instancing which is devastating to the health of PvP). Specific to Odyssey that tipped me over the edge, it was running around infinitely to find the un-tradeable mats (goods and data) needed for engineering and upgrades - grinding through bugged gameplay loops to find this stuff and having to manage backpack and inventory size to fit things.
After hours and hours of gameplay, I still don't have the data I need for engineer access with no consistent way to secure its drops, upgrades consume health monitors and suit schematics at the same rate but I have 140 health monitors and 2 suit schematics, and the only consistent way to get data - which can't be traded for what you want - is to hope you get mission rewards for the data you need because otherwise you'll be looping the same settlement hundreds of times to try and get enough of the data you need.
But don't worry guys, they've made it so that menu logging breaks the entire settlement to guarantee you're locked into this grind.
The people in the slither of vocal forum loyalists that will defend the game 'til blue in the face can have fun repeating the same 5 radiant fetch quests in a slightly different setting for the thousandth time. But I'm not going to bother with trying to draw blood from a stone for consistent gameplay in Elite, which was already enough of an effort for quality PvP in Horizons whilst Frontier treats us like the ginger stepchild, when this is what they give us - with Odyssey splitting the player base on top of it all.
Meanwhile watching other communities gutted by the mistakes - whether it's racers on life support until Horizons gets deleted, or anarchy BGS groups that have lost years of work in the space of the week following launch. But so nice there's a token thread asking for very specific issues, as long as we don't include anything from when those factions lost everything. No going back, no fixing the problem, just going forwards.
No thanks, I'm done now.
The thread evolved away from the title, I can't help that. People kept making new excuses, I had to keep bringing up additional points, this happens on forums, threads evolve. I still don't want the title changed cos there's no need. If I did, I would change it to... Please just roll back the game, this is not good enough. I honestly don't think that would change anything in terms of the white knighters here. No worries, it's good to talkSure.
If you want keep explaining to everyone joining the thread,
that it's actually not about forcing FD to scrap Odyssey (for now),
although the le says so more or less,
it's perfectly doing it's job.
Anyway, no more on this subject from my side.
I had to bite my tongue, I almost said something that would get me banned.Classic case of...

The original question is flawed because planets are not going to stay "like this forever", there were errors and issues that arose from the implementation of the new tech and they are being worked on.No, I'm very happy with teh thread title thanks, it had exactly the effect I wanted and it doesn't need to match perfectly with the evolution of the discussion, if people come along assuming things that have already been clarified, I will happily point them to the relevant posts. And no, it is not my question that is flawed, it is your assumed interpretation of it, despite my having clarified myself.
Arf said 'don't wanna reroll planets'...what do you think about that? Is that a straightforward enough question for you?
I knew about the update naturally.Serrvers are down right now.I think there will be <sigh> another client update today. This is another reason they should just take it back and do it again. How many patches are we gonna need... Ugh...
That is very unfortunate. did you see my video of Ariel in Horizons? The original question is flawed because planets are not going to stay "like this forever", there were errors and issues that arose from the implementation of the new tech and they are being worked on.
I said when they announced the delay to consoles I would be happy to wait for the PC version to be released at the same time, but that decision is not mine to make. I agree with Arf's statement, I don't want to reroll planets, I want the new tech to be working as intended and I am prepared to wait because trying to revert now makes no sense.
They don't want to reroll planets of course they don't .. but the state of the game may force them too. OP is not actually making an invalid point, very unacceptable to many but it could conceivably happen. He wants it, many others don't. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. The original question is flawed because planets are not going to stay "like this forever", there were errors and issues that arose from the implementation of the new tech and they are being worked on.

The issue I take is that OP seems to want Odyssey "deleted" until it is "acceptable" to his personal standards. They don't want to reroll planets of course they don't .. but the state of the game may force them too. I'm sure. Just like culling is a problem with rendering in the alpha build, but won't be present in the live release build. The original question is flawed because planets are not going to stay "like this forever", there were errors and issues that arose from the implementation of the new tech and they are being worked on.
If we only knew what "working as intended" really means...I want the new tech to be working as intended (...)
I've been there many times, I have my own video of me flying through the canyons there so no I don't need to watch it cheers. We knew months ago that the terrain on the majority of planets was going to be changing, so I'm not in the lest bit surprised that it's different. But I'm also sensible enough to realise it wasn't working as intended from release and they've already said there was a problem with the implementation and it is being worked on to make it work correctly. That is very unfortunate. did you see my video of Ariel in Horizons?
Everyone has their personal issues on the matter that they want acted on that others don't.. sure OPs decision wouldn't be desirable to you but I dare say if you had a magic wand and created the world your way others would argue too! I think the man should be able to say what he likes and if enough people thing otherwise they can just ignore it safe in the knowledge it'll never happen. We are all allowed our personal wishes. The issue I take is that OP seems to want Odyssey "deleted" until it is "acceptable" to his personal stanbards.
Why should people like myself lose out because others are not so happy?
Will you give me my money back/pay for my copy when it is available again? I think that is a fair return in this case.
Horizons is broken too, but if it serves you to passively aggressively attack me for something I'm not being, you go girl. I preordered odyssey and didn't refund it, so I don't see how I'm being selfish requesting what I think the best action to take would be, based on my experience with FD for the last 6 years, game releases for the last 30 years, and application change management for the last 16 years, on a game that I paid top dollar for and have not been delivered. If you really think it's working fine, then you are not the person the thread is aimed. As has clearly been stated by me and many others, there are multiple broken game mechanics, your pretense that everything is fine contradicts what even the Braben says.Oh look, OP is being selfish and has decided he is "important".
Speak for yourself. I am playing daily and loving it.
Use the Horizons Client if you don't like Odyssey, We are very, very lucky to have that option.
You could pretend it is done this way and wait for autumn before you come back here. Then I could pretend the game is ok and play on. Win win situation. No it's not, you're assuming that and not reading the words that I have written, just like the others. You're entitled to the assumption on first glance, but when I deny that this is what I am suggesting and I have explained myself multiple times, you and the others would be intellectually dishonest to suggest that I am trying to take something away. I do not see why a rollback needs to take anything away. Delay it a little longer perhaps.
If I gave you a choice, planets like this forever, or wait another 6 months for Odyssey rerelease, what would you prefer? Genuine question...
I admire your faith, how long and how many patches do you think that should take before it would have been better to just roll back and stop disrupting the game with constant patches?I've been there many times, I have my own video of me flying through the canyons there so no I don't need to watch it cheers. We knew months ago that the terrain on the majority of planets was going to be changing, so I'm not in the lest bit surprised that it's different. I've been on worlds that have some canyons and been on worlds that have some mountains. So I'm confident that there will be similar places in the galaxy once everything is working.
