Yesterday I downloaded the demo of Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, basically so I could compare the graphics capabilities of this new PC to my old PS4. I played a little bit of it with K&M, learning the different keys to do things, and then took a break. Later in the day I invited my wife to check it out (she's a Lara Croft fan and likes to watch me play). I was playing along where I left off, and then I noticed it - a PS4 symbol over an item I could interact with. WHAT? That's when I realized I had picked up the DS4 beside my laptop and was playing TR just like I had the previous two titles. It was so natural that I hadn't even realized I was using the DS4 rather than K&M!
Come to find out, TR fully and completely supports the DS4, perfectly mirroring how the game plays on PS4. It even uses the force-feedback! I didn't have to load any special drivers to make the DS4 pretend to be a XBox controller, it just works right out of the box. So Frontier, please give us this same functionality in Elite Dangerous. Sure, I can use the DS4 in ED, but it's a shadow (haha) of the experience of using a DS4 on PS4. MANY DS4 features are lacking, like gyroscopic headlook, trackpad support, force feedback, etc. It's also a real pain to program the generic DS4 into ED to get it to behave even close to the PS4. Sure, there are hacks out there that let the DS4 act like a XBox controller and mouse, but consider your audience - there are many of us coming over from the console world who just want to plug in our DS4 and have it work like it did on PS4, no hacks or gimmicks or hours in the control setup screen.
If other games can do this (TR), then surely you can too, Frontier. Many of us have paid TWICE for the game, so please take a little bit of that extra $$ and invest a day or two to copy-n-paste the code from PS4 over to PC. Your implementation of the Dualshock controller is one of the best things about the Playstation version of Elite Dangerous. I see no reason not to make this available on PC as well.
THANK YOU!!!
