Please keep BGS and PP 2.0 separate

Dear FDev,

As a BGS player, please, please, make sure that the new "PP 2.0 activities" you mentioned on stream do not affect BGS.
It would be so lovely if us BGSers could just ignore that the new PP 2.0 as a whole, and not get stomped by the PP hordes (of alts and bots) that will inevitibly flock to our systems to mess things up.

Thanks!
Thing is, both PP and BGS are already linked as we speak. It is unavoidable already.

When playing BGS I´ve had my share of PP Powers messing with our faction. It actually triggered really interesting diplomatic talks. They would give up the system we were interested in, in exchange for us to help them reversing a faction government that suited them elsewhere etc. It often worked out well, and it was fun.

Which leads me to another thought:

Going through the PP stream just now, just picked up on the “system score” concept that would be based on a number of factors including population size. Given BGS is already linked to Powerplay now, I hope that continues being the case and that system government type and economy state are part of the score as that would integrate directly with BGS and in a major way. That d make the score fluctuate aswell making it open to player agency.

I have no idea whether large PP or PMF groups overwhelming lone commanders is going to be part of the game moving forward, I rather suspect it will be. If BGS and PP are still linked though, I just hope that I'm getting kerbstomped for a better reason than the government type of my faction, especially when it's the same as the the 'so-called' controlling system!

The "problem" is that "diplomacy" (which ofc is a relevant element in these situations) is totally ignored by the game mechanics (parties have to rely on Inara, Discord etc.).

As most of "old players" know, Elite would have been harder and definitively less engaging without the support of external tools >>> even including those to be used for communication only.

Yeah, diplomacy is ignored in ingame mechanics whether you play BGS or PP in isolation anyways. I am just remarking that for those willing to engage in it, where it can be done, it can be indeed fun.

In 1.0, PP is intimately tied to BGS, but BGS (except for explicit bonuses in inf in exploited territory) is largely able to function with disregard to powerplay. How FDev more intimately marry the 2 systems in PP 2.0 is a reasonable thing to be wary and contemplative about.

I literally had a breakdown trying to sort out some stupid PMFs- its why I defected to The King because I had enough of talking in a game about spaceships.

When I snapped and wasted them all it felt like drinking an ice cold beer on a hot day.
Remind Me - who were you before?

Oh that's right - Did you guys do that stoopid thing where you tested just how far you could place a control system or something?
It's better with Kumo.
Several- Takurua (succeeded), Sothis (almost), Maia (succeeded), (almost) Jaques Station (to see what happens when it jumped). It also semi not mental because it would always drop first.

It was at a time where Antal had flipped 100% of its systems (which was spreadsheet hell) and then having gobby PMFs. Went a bit crazy and woke up shooting ships through the mail slot :D

I think so, although in the Franchise Wars™ Kumo Burger wiped them out.
