Please, no Live Bait Feeders.

I’d wish that PZ doesn’t implement any kind of live bait to feed the carnivorous animals in the zoo like in Jurassic World Evolution.
I do get why the goat got added to the game since it already was in the first Jurassic Park movie though.

Although I do understand that carnivores do have to kill other animals to survive in the wild, but in a captive setting I’d rather not want to see a goat run for its life without having the chance to survive at all.
And also knowing now that the animals who escape their enclosures won’t harm any guests makes me think there won’t be anything like this in game..

dear Bovidae, i am absolutely moved by your sensitivity but i have no idea what you're talking about.

somehow frontier thought that mixing up a forum about spaceships with one about dinosaurs was a good idea. just waiting for the roller coaster peeps to chime in ...

Not in captive setting its more Safari wild setting like in Africa where everything is wild or a compromise could be driving a bait on a jeep to help captive animals become wild again so they are taken and release back into the wild as i think that is what they have plan but not like this so this could be good?

WOW thanks for liking it hope this can be part of the game to release the animals back to the wild so teaching them wild hunting tricks that normal their mothers would teach them. :) I am excited if they have this! I will create a thread on this! And can anyone find links on this type of training what is it called?

Found a little bit about zoos and live bait feeding..

“But zookeepers and zoologists point out that hunting is dangerous for predator as well as prey. An injury to a predator often an endangered species during the hunt is a risk its keepers are unwilling to take.

As Andrew Circo of the San Diego Zoo told the British newspaper the Guardian in 2008, "We do not feed live animals for a very important reason. Sometimes those animals fight back and, in exercising their instincts, may injure one of our endangered ... animals. And when dealing with many endangered species, you do not want to take a chance that an injury could lead to other health complications. Not even our snakes get live mice."”

This makes teaching carnivores to hunt by themselves so much harder.

Not sure if the idea with the Jeep is something they’re thinking about adding, you’d need lots of space for them to sprint, which isn’t given in a zoo..

I like meerkats but will they be meerkats and live maggots should be fine but i was told that snakes in real life are not given live mouse but dead ones. But chimp are given life bugs for their food! :)

The reason they give them dead animals, is because those are easier to prepare with all the medicines these animals need.

I don't think an living mouse is willing to let his stomach fill with whatever the snake needs besides the mouse itself.

And I don't think it is ethical to let these animals have the scare of their life before they die. And the living animals don't care if what they eat is dead or not.

Why not? It's a game. I never got how we apply same rules for virtual simulation vs. real world atrocities.
I wouldn't ever get a pet that needs to be fed live animals, i find that cruel, but in a game...bring it on! :)

I think its like a movie its look real so since the game is for younger kids they are not allowed to have it in the game cause of the rating. But i think in the real word if we live on farms we have to eat kill and eat and i suppose we get use to it.

I could imagine some children being scarred by seeing for example a cute fluffy bunny rabbit, which they might also have as a pet at home, being hunted and gulped up by a tiger. Even if it’s not bloody at all in game, they’d still have enough imagination and empathy to understand that that live bait rabbit just lost its life.

Makes you think why we choose not to show children something like this, I guess it’s not like picking an apple off a tree..

That is right you will bond with your animals so to see it get rip apart like how a snake does it would cause much pain to children playing this. However again its rating so they can't include it cause of the rating but again if the child grew up on a farm and watch their chicken eaten they won't burst into tears as they are so use to it and understand that snake need food or tiger need food so kill prey. But still not good for a family game.

I see penguins eaten on documentary and its not pleasant at all but in real zoo this does not happen at all unless the tiger escape then it become a danger.

We can enjoy our little bunnies and that they be safe in the zoo! :)

Snakes don't rip apart their food. They eat them whole.....

I expect Frontier to want a all ages rating. So I don't expect live bait that will be ripped apart.

PEGI 3
The content of games with a PEGI 3 rating is considered suitable for all age groups. The game should not contain any sounds or pictures that are likely to frighten young children. A very mild form of violence (in a comical context or a childlike setting) is acceptable. No bad language should be heard.
PEGI 7
Game content with scenes or sounds that can possibly frightening to younger children should fall in this category. Very mild forms of violence (implied, non-detailed, or non-realistic violence) are acceptable for a game with a PEGI 7 rating.
PEGI 12
Video games that show violence of a slightly more graphic nature towards fantasy characters or non-realistic violence towards human-like characters would fall in this age category. Sexual innuendo or sexual posturing can be present, while any bad language in this category must be mild. Gambling as it is normally carried out in real life in casinos or gambling halls can also be present (e.g. card games that in real life would be played for money).
PEGI 16
This rating is applied once the depiction of violence (or sexual activity) reaches a stage that looks the same as would be expected in real life. The use of bad language in games with a PEGI 16 rating can be more extreme, while games of chance, and the use of tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs can also be present.
PEGI 18
The adult classification is applied when the level of violence reaches a stage where it becomes a depiction of gross violence, apparently motiveless killing, or violence towards defenceless characters. The glamorisation of the use of illegal drugs and explicit sexual activity should also fall into this age category.

-------------

I think you're right. Jurassic world evolution has a pegi rating of 16, because the violence (the goat being eaten for example) reached a stage "that looks the same as would be expected in real life." Planet Coaster has a pegi rating of 3, because even tho' you can give the guest a hard time. It isn't such a big aspect of the game, while the goat being eaten is and the dinosaurs fighting is.

That said, zoo tycoon 2 was also a E for everyone, or pegi 3. Even tho' it showed live bait and the carcass afterwards. The only thing different from Jurassic is that Zoo Tycoon didn't have such a detailed animation for eating the live bait. If they didn't want to give the player the option to use live bait, they would have just let the live bait despawn when attacked.

So I think you're right in saying that the live bait probably isn't going to be ripped apart. But they might include live bait anyway. Just like maxis included woo-hoo in their sims games. (Pegi 12)
