Please turn off Collision Detection on Scenery.... PLEASE!!

Do you feel his expectation is unrealistic? Why couldn't they add a feature randomly?

With the part about RCT3, yes in my opinion that's not really a realistic expectation considering this game was built from the ground up and is not intended as a sequel to RCT3, nor as a rival to the RCT series (saying that from speaking with Jonny Watts btw). I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect things to be added in due course though, but as coolraver said, it's not that simple to just add something new when it's requested, especially in this time period when most of the development time will be spent on bug fixes and performance upgrades.

Programmers have a scheduled set of tasks to do; ranging from adding new features, fixes and testing. It's easy to say "hey, add this and add that" but in reality even adding a small feature could mean re-writing a huge portion of the game which in turn will introduce even more issues and problems, specially if not well-thought of.

I understand. I know this already. That doesn't mean that a feature that gets completely through the pipeline has to wait for "a large update". For instance, why couldn't they include the option (some say feature) to remove collision on scenery in a random upcoming patch?

I'm sure it's on their list - they have a track record of listening to feedback and delivering. We just don't know when as they have their own internal schedule.

Exactly my point :) So why is it so crazy to think FMX was hoping or expecting it in the minor patch we got today? :)

It's probably just me, but I think he's making it sound like "it's too easy, why can't they do it right away?".

It's normal for everyone to anticipate a requested feature to be implemented for each patch. How people react to it afterwards is a different story.

Back on topic - I'd like this feature as well, but I'm willing to hold out and wait. It's probably not very easy on their end. If they can't turn it off completely, another possibility would be decreasing the threshold at least.

I came here on the forum looking specifically for this suggestion. I love the flat rides (seriously, good job Frontier), but there's so little freedom in decorating your flat rides and blending it with the scenery.

For example, I really want to be able to do this:

Please Frontier, this would make the game perfect. And to retain the game's actual realism, it's fine if it would have to be implemented as a cheat code or something.

At least, have collision turned off in Sandbox mode. It should be up to us, if we want to have rides go through scenery/paths. Sandbox mode should be 100% freedom.

FWIW, No collision has been suggested for ages, at least two frontier community or developer people on reddit commented back when I asked if it would be a feature in the game, they've known people wanted it since before release...

It's not like I made athread saying "ok plz no collision option" and then started wondering where it was. People have been asking for this for MONTHS. Builders on youtube have been asking for this for MONTHS. The people who got the game an audience rfom their videos have been asking for this for MONTHS.

And again, you can throw around "It's not RCT4!" and "It's not competing with RCT!" (like ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ it isn't, come on) all you want, but the simple fact is, this is a game in the RCT genre by an RCT developer who made most of the games in the RCT lineage, and it's totally reasonable to expect them to understand the value of features from their previous game in the series.

RCT3 was frontier's previous game in the genre. Whether they claim they're creating a "sequel" or not, they're creating another entry in the genre, and they created the last one, and its two expansion packs, and the two expansion packs before it for the second one. And it's totally fair to expect them to grasp that features from RCT3 should come back, such as removal of asinine restrictions on the player like "You're not allowed to make terrain go within 50 feet of a ride".

I think they failed in implementing this stuff correctly.

In the digital artbook, they described that there is a hidden mesh where peeps can walk on to not collide with rideparts, this mesh defines those areas.
It would have been better to remove the fence and bottom surface of the bluprint-rides and make a invisible hidden surfaceplate instead.
The user places the ride in its park with clipping into its scenary.
Then there is a button (like the entrances and exits) where you can paint onto that hidden surface where peeps can walk over and where not (green for walk-over-area, or red for resticted areas).
Painting is done exactly like you do it with terrain-painting.
After you edited the "no-go-regions" and finish, the painting hides and you get back the terrain.
If you place a new object later, re-edit the painted-mesh ... thats it.

With that way you could do wonderful stuff with the rides. Let the user paint the mesh ...
That is the ONE-AND-ONLY way to do it right.

"Scenery" referring to "All things you place down that are not functional objects".

And PC does not have no scenery collision with rides.

Yes. Yes you do, to know how it was implemented, and how it fails.

Yes, SCENERY is free from collision, with scenery. They JUST brought it up to the same level as PlanCo.
Scenery still collides with rides, and paths. Paths have horrible collisions with rides.

So, no! You can't hold RCTW up to be "better" on this issue. It is STILL worse than PlanCo.

By your logic I can't understand your comment because I don't play the game.

[rolleyes]

So I was mislead. Big whoop. I was told by someone who does have it that there's an update that came out today that removes all collision when it comes to scenery and everything else.
