Pleiades Nebula Active Community Goal Team. We are experienced :)

I've given a bit of metal but I have a question, how are players able to build a station in Pleiades, or anywhere for that matter?

The players are not building a station. The entire reason the players are giving The Alliance metals are so THEY can build the station. If you can't comprehend that then maybe I should get technical with it. The developers of the game are making the station.

It's a small contribution, I know, but I made it safely into Neville Horizons with my Cobra, having mined about 15 tons of gold and other metals from about 40 lyr out. The fun is in the taking part.

I must say, the sight of so many Cmdr contacts on the radar, a small number with hardpoints deployed, was exciting .... not experienced this density of human traffic since leaving Eravate a couple of months ago ! Didn't say hello to find out who was who ... just headed for the safety of the slot, with some relief, lol.

Will now look forward to having a nice meal in the Neville Restaurant overlooking the stars before turning in for the night. Tomorrow is another day :).

I started in on this tonight, and my first run in with my Clipper some idiot in a Hauler of all things decided to interdict me. Yeah...he didn't last long. Other than that, this CG is annoying the hell out of me right now since my Clipper isn't too well set up, so runs to systems with metals take forever! Ah, well...I just ran over to the closest mining system since my Clipper is rigged for it, and parked for the night (I think I've got around 350 tons in so far).

I'd wait on the mining unless you enjoy babysitting the buckets.

Ahhh dang I would need to swap out the point defense to get more shield boosters.....this is the setup I currently have on the Ananconda:
http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=706,7...Q9Y8SCgC_8I,0Bk0AA0AA0AA08c08c7Sk0727go4_w2UI
...is the point defense useful /necessary?
...also I might have swapped out a couple of the beam weapons on the large hardpoint for burst lasers...I'll have to see when I get home...my saved link was before I tinkered with the weapons at the station when I built the Ananconda at LHS 20...
ouch!...I moved my "silent runing" hotkey to T5 on my Saitek X52 Pro HOTAS...tried to put it far away as I don't really use it & have accidentally activated it in the past on the old hotkey position, when I was in combat a long time ago....wasn't the best move lol"

IMHO the Point defense is of little use, as neither Mines nor Guided Missiles do any fearful damage to bigger Ships (Mines AFAIK never did and Missiles were nerfed into oblivion) even if unshielded - and you'll be running already the moment it becomes clear you'll lose your Shields soon.
On my Conda I tossed it out. The only remaining caviat remaining would be Torpedos, if you think someone carries them. Not often used in PvP though, especially due to their low speed and minimal Ammo.
Philosophy question basically.

With the amount of Beam Lasers, your Heat Sink will likely come in handy if you fire Weapons @ 3 Pips or more. For a few Burst Lasers, not really required IMHO.
Since everybody loves chaffing vs. Anacondas and carring 2 Chaff Utilitys auto-sequences them, any Conda Turrets IMHO can easily become useless for quite a long time in PvP.

Wow definitely appreciate the though analysis :D ...I figured I'd mix it up but and try this setup...

Good to have you with us cmdr. With regards to that meal..... Don't have the fish

I made the mistake of thinking I'd give mining a go (never tried it before) and I honestly can't see what anyone would bother with such a time-consuming, boring, fiddly and downright chronic nuisance. OK so I did manage to get my first Painite, Osmium and Platinum ever in the game but wow - what a waste of time. I could have traded in a huge amount of metal in the time I wasted mining 290t of metals - back to the cargo-haul for this CG for sure.

After the two busy/action days, I went into Mining again for some calmer waters (Mobius Group) and chill out a little.

Found another nice CMDR around in 38 Lyncis and asked if he was interested to try Wing Mining/Prospecting.
Some interesting lessions learned during those ~30 Minutes :

- Collectors still do get confused due to Instancing, but at least they didn't blow up on fragments like they love to do i.e. with bugged Instance Cargo Canisters
- lots of uncollectable but visible fragments (tried manually scooping one - Ship flies right through); "No valid Collection Target" is still a safe indication no actual fragments remain to collect
- still got alot of Metals out of Double-Mining
- both our Games crashed at the same moment after some 20minutes (some bug), so Wing Mining seems a rather unstable thing to do in the Game
(after getting back in game, we were still 350m apart from each other and immediately saw each other - so at least finding the other guy again seems no problem)

Double-Mining observations & tricks :
- 1st CMDR to fire the Prospector i.e. sees 35% Platinum/10% Osmium/6% Gallite
- if the 2nd CMDR fires his own Prospector after the 1st CMDR depleted OR before the 1st CMDR started mining this Asteroid, will see a randomized Mineral composition, i.e. now 35% Indite/10% Silver/6% Bertrandite
-> but if the 1st CMDR leaves that Asteroid mined but non-depleted (>0% and <100% remaining), the 2nd CMDR's Prospector will see the same composition from his Prospector
--> hence, double-mining that Asteroid is then possible, both get the same good stuff out of it

Funny detail :
One CMDR's Collector Limpets sometimes try to (and occasionally can) swoop fragments already transported by the other CMDRs Collector Limpets :D
(especially when they're waiting in front of a closed Cargo Hatch - to allow one CMDR to collect the whole double-output of a single Asteroid)

As fragments are never stolen/illgal, CMDR collector Limpets will happily swoop from NPCs mining in the near vicinity - and NPCs being NPCs... they don't seem to mind *g*

Lazy Miner's Pro Tip :
When NPCs mine asteroids in the vicinity, their mined fragments can be used as "poor man's Prospectors". If they get good stuff and you see it - that's the stuff you'll also get if you Prospect/Mine their Asteroid ;)

And last but not least - after reading it elsewhere, I can confirm that the highest Asteroid density indeed occurs in bright-white parts of an Asteroid Ring.
Much easier indeed due to the high Asteroid density per km.

This is the first time I've joined in on a CG, despite being a backer and having had plenty of opportunity.

I've delivered just over 1,000t, but I think my concentration is starting to wane a bit; just arrived back from a run with an empty cargo hold!

Going to keep on plugging away, after a cup of tea and a lie down. I really want to see this thing built.

Can anyone tell me approximately what the bands are please?
How many tonnes (roughly) to get into the higher bands?
I've already got some under my belt from Thursday, but want to judge how much more I need to contribute.

Don't feel bad for yourself. Last night I did the opposite, I arrived with a full hold - only to find I'd arrived back at the original station I bought the stuff from.

Haha...

Glad I'm not the only one to have done this :p It was on about my 10th run, wasn't best pleased, but did laugh at it once I worked out what I'd done, or rather, hadn't done!

Good to have you with us cmdr. With regards to that meal..... Don't have the fish

Thanks for the tip. When the waiter said, "yes, the fish is off" I didn't realize literally - apparently the fish booked a flight paid by three white mice on the afternoon Orca down to the planet and was gone !

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant on Neville Horizons ? We need a "Traders' Guide to Good Eating in the Galaxy."
