Was in the mood for some spacial romance, so I powered up the old betamax and started watching Star Trek Into Darkness.
There was the young Spock blabbering on, like he usually does, about how important the prime directive was, and that in no circumstances was the heroic Kirk to interfere, or disturb in any way, this ancient tribe of aliens.
Meanwhile, he abseils down the shuttle and tries to disarm a pending volcanic eruption with the sole purpose of saving the same alien race.
.. and here I am thinking ... what happened to the prime directive Spock!
With your brutal logic, how could you not see that intervening with a civilization ending natural disaster can only be seen as destroying the prime directive.
Then it dawned on me.
Like the prime directive used in ED gameplay - don't let the laws of reality get in the way of the laws of fun. So too, the prime directive cannot get in the way of a Kirk rescue scene.
Any other plot holes or technical irritations in other sci-fi movies you can think of?
You know ... because sci-fi movies generally pride themselves on technical accuracy.
