Horizons Points of Interest - What is your technique for find them ?

I've been away for a couple of weeks, last night I was doing a destroy skimmer mission needed 12 of the little darlings, so rather than attack the main base I was looking for POI's in the surrounding area and picked them off in 1's and 2's.

It seems as though POI circle mechanics have been adjusted since I was away, as they now vary vastly in size which I hadn't noticed before and either my location technique was a little rusty or it's not working now.

Kudos to Vindicator Jones for the original basics for the first technique

1) Height 2Km
2) Zoom out Scanner to max
3) Find and align POI circle in V
4) As edge of POI circle meets centre of scanner - It twitches immediately dive at 25-30 degrees
5) Watch for twinkling pixel indicting position of POI.

But that didn't seem to work to well so I fell back to

1) Height 2Km
2) Zoom out Scanner to max
3) Find and align POI circle in V and approach centre
4) Zoom in scanner and position ship to align centre of poi with centre of scanner and come to dead stop
5) Descend vertically Land
6) Deploy SRV and use scanner to locate POI - Drive and approach lines at top of scanner indicating signal from manufactured item.

So please provide your comments and refinement or alternative techniques.

Mine is very similar to your second version. I tend to land near the outside of the circle pointing towards the centre then use the SRV to head that way!

i'm mainly using dbs or dbe for that kind of missions.

i center the poi, and then i do a 360 degree yaw with ~45 degree down, to find the poi.

with the view down of a dbs/dbe that's no problem.

Personal tip (although I'm no expert) - you can see POI's from 5km up and your zoomed out scanner will be covering a larger area than from 2km up.

If there is a technique it's dependant on terrain. I do often from ship on flats, in hilly it's mostly from ship. Apart from that I do extensive buggy runs where I pick up the odd signal here and there.
