Poll - UGC / Custom Content

I think it would be a shame if custom scenery/rides etc aren't officially supported. It's, as other people have said, a very important thing for longevity of a game.
I personally hope that someone will create a scenery set containing construction items (like vehicles, barricades, tape to cordon off unfinished pathways*, cranes...).
That's one of the only custom scenery items I downloaded in RCT3 for some reason.

(*Tape that guests can't walk through, that is. Not like the one I downloaded for RCT3 which didn't actually stop people walking right through it).

I think the balance of work at Frontier is just right at the moment.

The focus currently is to give every player the tools and materials in-game to reduce the need for UGC. John did state that they would look into adding tools for importing custom objects; he just did not commit to a timescale.

Pretty much my whole stance on the topic, after the base is in , have at it and treat those that are asking for such to it. I just hate the fact that most UGC is poor by yesturday standards and that it will just dog my system down if I start adding like I did for RCT3. Give the people what they want (enough definitively want it) but I am among those that ask for a good solid base game before adding fillers in.

Alright, let's be honest, we need UGC

UGC is something we NEED in Planet Coaster.

Sure, they will put in a lot of content but if you're like me and want the perfect me that is your own, YOU WILL NEVER FIND IT IN THE STUFF THAT COMES INCLUDED WITH THE GAME.

UGC and custom created content is super important. Please stop beating around the bush with this Frontier and implement it or allow it, look what it did for RCT3, the game is still thriving today and just yesterday RCTW unveiled their UGC system and tbh it looks pretty damn good (shame the rest of the game is so bad).

Frontier obviously don't want it in the game for multiple reasons, this was absolutely evident on the livestream. While I live you guys and Planet Coaster, you really need to stop being so strict and allow it and even make a system for it like Cities: Skylines.

Please.

I have paid good money to Frontier because I beleive in their vision and I am excited by what they propose to deliver.

I would much rather they spent their valuable time creating a very strong game and creating as much quality in-game UGC content as possible. Judging from the direction they are going in and seen so far, I for one am very very happy.

I would be disappointed to know that my hard earned money I have paid towards Planet Coaster was going toward features that would distract Frontier from creating their vision. A vision that I feel, and I know a lot of others feel is ground-breaking, beautiful, exciting and worthy of triple AAA game status.

I am certainly not against UGC, it is something I am interested in, especially when it is done well. However, I feel it would be better implemented at a later date, just as John Laws advised in the recent live stream. He even acknowledged that he is aware UGC is important to a lot of the community. Therefore, I honestly believe this whole sensitive issue can be pushed to one side for now because the burning question has been answered.

I am not even going to try and compare Planet Coaster with the other game... Completely different league. There was a fork in the road a long time ago and that is just getting wider and wider with every snippet of information provided.

I would much rather Frontier use their time and passion and keep going in the direction they are heading in, and I really hope that they do... for some time to come.

Sorry but let's be honest, UGC is a "want" and not a "need."

A need is something that is essential, and with regards to this game, UGC is not. What we need- again, with regards to this game- is fully optimized/bug free game as those two are essential for a game to run properly. Crash to desktop- frame rate dips- memory leaks- etc. etc. etc. etc.

RCT3 is still thriving? I don't kow.
Are they making any money off of it? No.
Will people not buy this game if it's not option? Probably...but not many.
So- is it worth the investment? No.

But is Frontier nice? Yes... (Most likely)
Besides, nothing wrong with people raising the bar on expected content. It'll mean a better game in the end. [yesnod]

Hello,

I can see where UGC would be nice to use. I played RCT3 for 5 years with no UGC and built eye pleasing parks to my liking. If we are able to visit other peoples parks and they have UGC, will I be forced to DL their UGC? What 1 person loves 3 others may call it garbage. I don't want to have 1000s of UCG I would never use or want in parks. And than to look through at all that UCG every time I went to build something else in my park. That's just my .02

Same here - and hey, stuk71! [cool]

I think much later on, Frontier will open the UGC gates, but for a while, I have a feeling they'll be keeping us busy with tons of in game content with reusable theming. If they release high quality packs like Soaked was to RCT3, I'm all for that too.

You are just sooo right.. It cant come into my brain why people wouldnt want? the only reason seems to me, is that they just try to justify frontiers decision, because they are afraid that they maybe make some things that arent "perfect".. i mean also the ability with custom support or complete dark rooms for dark rides are some things i just dont understand why its something that should be taken for granted!! I mean, i really hope they wil add as much content as possible, but so far they just have 2 themes and i guess we all want like 50-100 or more different themes with different animatronics and stuff, so just copy the ugc creator from rtcw or something, it cant be that difficult! it also makes everything easier for the developer themselfes..

It will also depend on if they allow full mod support to mod some of the core gameplay as well as UGC. Thats one of the things I love about what they have done with Cities Skylines, the behaviour of the game can be drastically altered.

I can't imagine there are many who don't want it but like myself I'm sure there a number who for now aren't too bothered about it (the majority of consumers probably don't even know what UGC is!) Clearly something like this would take a severe amount of resources and time to implement well and personally I'd rather that time was spent elsewhere. As has been discussed there's a decent chance they will implement their own proper UGC system down the line but currently it most definitely is not a vital feature for release.

I want to see UGC implementation at some point but initially the base game and it's content is far more important. If the base game is poor then all the UGC in the world won't make it good.

They have just 2 theme for the Alpha not for the finish game...

its user generated content,
so everything the community creates and that find into the game, like trees, flatrides, doors, walls, objects.. everything...
