Powerplay 2.0 Activities

Overnight the reinforcement progress jumped from 128 to 2575, so now I don't know what to believe. Maybe there's a delay in adding a CMDR's contribution to the pool (so it's not instantaneous / with the next available tick). But this number is also less than half of the merits I gained, so I don't know about the 1:2 rule.

Anyway the system is Nijotec if anyone cares to look.
In my experience my contributions usually don't show up after the first update from when I made my contribution. They usually are reflected a few hours later.

Nice!
By "stacking" you presumably mean 7 separate settlements though? (In other words, not the same kind of in-parallel stacking that can be done with massacre missions from different factions.)
Yes, I probably should have used the word "chained" rather than stacked. The system I am working in generates up to 8 missions at a time, but usually at least 2 of them are for the same settlement, so I grab as many as I can. Each mission earns 1800 merits for successful completion. I then have to go to the support system to hand in all of the Powerplay data and goods. Unfortunately, the missions only seem to be available for a couple of days at a time.

I'm fairly certain the ratio is 1:4, not 1:2.

Mmm, yes I had wondered about that, having made some very modest contributions to some out-of-the-way systems and then not seen any action immediately. However, at that even earlier stage of my PP2 experience, I hadn't even noticed the "last updated" in the in-game info, and nor did I pay any attention to how long it took before the 0 reinforcement points actually changed to something a little larger.

Does anyone mention a 1:2 rule somewhere? I had only heard about the 1:4.

I guess this must make it considerably harder to be sure that you're actually seeing your own work reflected in the figures, rather than others...

Am I right to think (having explored some of the PP2 posts going back a few more weeks) that this 1:4 thing came about when the merits were boosted for CMDRs?

I'll be keeping an eye out for these now :) (y)

That's correct.

Greetings Commanders.

With the update this morning, we have increased merits from by exploration data by 6x, and all other sources by 4x.

The effect on system scores and therefore system conflict progression remains unchanged.

We have also increased the merit award from all assignment difficulties by 20x
  • This will take immediate effect on any uncompleted assignments at time of posting. Assignments which have already been completed will not be retroactively see this change
This is the first step in ensuring that all activities with Powerplay 2.0 both feel rewarding and are viable in advancing through the ranks quickly, allowing Commanders to obtain the first Powerplay modules in a much shorter timespan. We will continue monitor to both player feedback and data, and make further adjustments to merit gain for activities if needed.

Hi
I have a quick question.... i have just started PP and so far so good, its a nice new skinner box to fill ;) the rewards seem fairly generous and are for doing the stuff i have always done in game anyway.

I have joined LYR, mostly because Diaguandri has been my commanders home almost since launch. I notice when i level up enough with him i get a trade bonus.

do i also get the same bonus for selling goods i have mined or is it only from goods purchased from a starport? I realise i could have chosen a power with an actual mining bonus but like i said, Diaguandri is my home!.

many thanks.

Interesting.
As I understand it, after joining the Power, representatives of your Power appear at ALL stations, both your own and the enemy's.
Why can't their representative settle on my FC after swearing an oath to the Power?

That’s not the only place they’re not present. There are no Power Representatives at settlements as well.

In my headcanon, the Power Representative doesn’t actually work for your Power, but the Pilots Federation. They’re there on behalf of all the Powers. As a result, they wear many hats… often literally, as they quickly change uniforms right before you walk into their office. ;)

Once I had an assignment to collect and turn in research data, I collected it in various ways but never got any encouragement.
Now I have been given an assignment to collect biological samples, will this work? Or should I not even try to complete this assignment?

I wouldn’t bother with doing the exploration assignments unless you’ve done some serious exploration recently. Both assignments seem to have some hefty per-body minimums to even qualify.

I'm more interested in whether there are any special requirements for collecting samples?
Since I was unable to collect research data I think this assignment is just broken.
Are the samples broken too ?

Turning in power data and assets has been working for me - though not really as assignments.

I’ve been getting them as a byproduct of reactivations but one time I got a surprise bonus of completing a weekly assignment I’d forgotten I had.

Happened to me this morning. Last night's planned play session was cut short due to real life, and when I woke up this morning, I decided I had just enough time to do one run, to make sure I didn't fail any of the Source and Return missions I'd taken the previous morning. I was doing my usual routine of scanning ships in Supercruise as I Buckyballed my way to pick up the critical commodity, when I get a message that I'd completed one of my assignments.

Those things are so low priority for me, I'd forgotten to even look at them yesterday, to see if there were any worth doing. In fact, now that I'm at home, waiting to take supper out of the oven, I think I'll do just that. Let's see, besides the already completed "scan ships" assignment, I've got:
  • Three missions in a single system that have enough synergy to be worth diverting to complete.
  • One mission to hack holo-screens in a system I know, from experience, has none.
  • Two more missions for activities I normally do anyways.
  • Three missions that I know from experience aren't worth going out of my way for.
Pretty much par for the course, IMO.

Some people think the exobiology ("biology samples") assignments are buggy, but as far as I know it might just be that the per-system threshold is unusually high (40M per system, or so it seems)

Try it and let us know!
I logged just over 40m in data this week and it didn't register...although I took less than that due to paying the npc pilot tax, not sure if that effects it or not. My mission wanted data delivered to the Lokapuri system. All data was collected in the Borfor system, single planet and 4 bio's. Not sure if that helps move the conversation forward :)

Edit: Im assuming I pay the npc pilot tax on exobio data, same as bounties and bonds etc?

The 40m figure is based on data I logged (see also other posts here and here.)

I'm not saying there's no bug, just that all the people I've seen reporting bugs haven't specified how many credits per system they turned in, only so-and-so credits in total.

EDIT: Oops, I see you specified a single system! Reading comprehension fail on my part.

Not sure if that helps move the conversation forward

I guess it does, so long as you confirm you didn't hand it in at Power's HQ system.

Unfortunately, I haven't had any exobio weekly assignments myself as yet, so I haven't tested the assignment angle of this. I would say though that I've turned in a decent amount of exo data, and it has consistently earned merits so long as the per-system amount was ~40m or over - actually 38m and change has worked also (and when I didn't mistakently turn it in at the Power's HQ system!)

Another confounding factor is that there don't appear to be visible notifications for exobiology merit earns - I think they're hidden by the VG UI - so that you have to note your merit count before and after the hand-in to see if you earned any, though for assignments it's easy to see progress.

Not clear again :( Take 8 employees and drive them to a landmark in such and such a system. There is only 1 outpost in the system, just in case I threw it in there - the result is 0.
How annoying these incomprehensible tasks in PP2 :(
