Powerplay Discussion Thread

What I would like to see, as a Mobius player, is some kind of reflection of what the players in Open are doing in the Private (and Solo) by NPC's.

If a faction is heavily attacking ships in a system in open, NPCs belonging to same faction should be heavily attacking ships in other modes too.

Same with the trading side.

Otherwise changes will happen without any real sense of activity beforehand.

I agree 100%, this would be perfect

Also:

Players will even have a hand in creating new Powers. The initial selection of factions will rise to a maximum of twenty as players provide assistance to minor local forces; as those forces establish a foothold across a handful of systems, they may rise to become Powers in their own right.

So theorically you could help other Alliance minor factions become a power.

The PowerPlay Bribery Thread

Edit: Nevermind. This post makes no sense in the big discussion thread.

I think this can be a huge step forward for ED. Once they have the foundations set and mechanics ironed out, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't get player-run factions included in Powerplay in same way as NPC factions. FDEV, please be smart and don't miss this chance.

I've no interest in spoiling peoples fun but how do I attempt to stop or ally with a bunch of players who can never be seen? Still, most people play in the Open so perhaps not a huge issue - but why would anyone trading not just go into solo or private..

What do you base your assertion that most people play in open on? As far as I know FD have never released numbers of Open/Group/Solo players.

I've only read the annoucement through once so far ..... but my impression of power play is ..--.. a complex CG with + and - sides playing against each other. Taking part is optional ..... the powers themselves seem to be separate from the main 3 but can have alliegence to them

Far to many assumptions are being made about a barebones announcement... we will hear more details in coming days/weeks. Just chill :)

Conflict isn't my thing. I don't seek out groups to join and people to play a game with so I can fight against other players. For that reason I am very likely not going to join any faction (at least not right away) in 1.3.

All I can say is I hope FD won't penalize me and others for neutrality. Let me go about my business without worrying about harassment.

Also, I get why FD had reduced penalties for people fighting members of opposing factions. PVPers howl for more PVP, so that's what they got.

Please throw us neutral players a bone and disincentiveise people from attacking neutral players by making sure the attacker gets a sizeable bounty and suffers some kind of penalty. The game needs MORE punishment for disruptive, anti-social behavior. Not less.

I'm sure much of this will be addressed. Just had to get it off my chest.

My feelings too. Powerplay is not something I'm interested in but it's cool for those that are. As long as I'm not forced to join a faction down the line, I'm happy.

<guesswork> As a non-aligned player, you're not a target for the faction players. They get nothing special for killing you and run the risk of being destroyed by your mad skills. Plus, as a non-aligned player, they will still be hit with fines and bounties if they attack you. So there's a deterrent there.</guesswork>

i have to say i share your concerns, but i suppose that if you are neutral then the current sanctions as they stand would apply to your attacker. i doubt i'll be joining any faction either, unless the pilot's federation or the dark wheel have one.

This is a great idea. Seconded.

Now.... Please.. Don't get me wrong.
I like how much FD is changing ED and drives it to be alot more complex than just grind to just grinding to be able to grind even more. I love this game in short periods.

But the last updates has been a disappointment in where ED is heading. Socialised gameplay isn't my cup of tea and tbh I don't care for galactic wars and don't want to take any part of it. I'll never 'choose' a side in a war (Hey don't look at me I'm a Swede lol).

Still.. Im going to try this one out. I hope it will work good in solo. And FINALLY we get to have a meaning in doing things. This is something I really like.

Fly safe!

This sounds pretty awesome. If Frontier can incorporate some of the social tools players have been asking for into the factions then we'll have ourselves a winner.

Good one. +1 REP for beating me to the punch. According to my sister's cousin's uncle he heard from a guy that knew a guy that said most play in Private Groups :O

I wonder if they will consolidate the local system factions into a fewer number, or if they'll just tag them all as belonging to one of the "powers"
