I just recently had to reinstall windows on my computer (sad days) and when I try to download the E:D launched it downloads a dmg archive instead of an exe so I am unable to install the launcher. Is this linked to the update?

just rename the file to .exe and it should install fine...

Solution:
Go to ED store page, then your account, your downloadables, download Elite Dangerous client from there. It's 109mb for me. I am installing the new launcher (proper version) now.

The launcher installed fine, but there doesn't seem to be an upgrade for the game yet, and the game still only shows the message that servers are down.

By the way, this is completely off topic, but since we are tapping the desk, what is this nonsense on my computer about reserving a copy of Windows 10. I don't want Windows 10 to be automatically installed without my approval, so I hope MS aren't planning anything like that.

that's an annoying icon i have too... if any1 got a solution plz share it!

You can download the new launcher version from the store, under "My Downloadable Products".

Won't help much, since to does not Upgrade Elite and you cannot login anway atm...

the upgrade usually becomes available (typically) in the last hour of the downtime (if tradition holds) but the above solution is a good point for those not familiar with renaming file extentions (only applying to those who got the dmg and not the exe version)

Just uninstall the associate update... xxx which downloaded in March

Edit: sorry wrong update.. just checking
