Powerplay needs rewards

That's correct, a large number of people are getting super bored, leaving their major faction's space, and shooting down opposing-faction randos for 15 merits a pop. Just because people are opting in doesn't mean they're engaging with it.
Yep, I was doing a mix of Ferry stuff from Nanomam and military strikes. In the end I heard of the 15merit/kill and ive been doing that in HR 706 for a couple of days. Bout 400merits off rating 4. Havent a clue nor a care about the powers. It was a coin flip between Winters and Hudson purely cause I prefer fed stuff.

Working in the same 3 basic tasks (kill, carry, or mine) as have always been in the game, for less rewards, and getting overly complicated rewards that decay and the nebulous chance of a minimal benefit in order the increase an imaginary person's power base, while having the added "advantage" of finding 90% of inhabited space is now hostile to you?

Sorry, I just don't see the attraction. This isn't new content, it's new complications of the same old content.

Very well put, and very true......and sad :(
I really would like to try powerplay, but your analysis is too compelling.

The more I read forums and the more I play, I'm starting to realize what ED is cruelly missing.

Immersion.

The galaxy doesn't feel alive, there's not a single human being to be seen, not a single voice to be heard, nothing. I would love to enlist in the security forces (for a limited time), I would love to see pirate stations, I would love to have some kind of event like "we spotted a pirate station, let's wreck it !", I would love to see conflict zones with actual objectives, I would love to see that a war has actual consequences (war around a station, you can't land). I would love to feel like I'm in a living galaxy.

The situation right now clearly isn't ideal. Supporters of some Powers get to fight for what they think is right *and* they get nice perks for it (Arissa, for example). Supporters of other Powers are asked to work for their faction essentially receiving nothing in return (Winters, Antal). That's simply not fair.

Good point. I can actually see that.
