Patch Notes Update Powerplay Update 1.3.07 (07/07/15)

In my experience, the number of missions required is reduced by your rep with aligned minor factions - being friends /allied with lots of minor factions appears to reduce the threshold of getting rank missions. After trading all through the Empire, I ranked up very quickly. Total play time to go from zero to Earl was maybe ten hours.

Edit: Ill at least agree that this should be explained better, because I've explained it myself many, many times now.

Fair enough, but I've been allied with at least ten or fifteen Empire-aligned factions for quite some time. Yes, I'm judging this based on independent systems and missions received from the factions. I had to do over a hundred missions (just killing pirates, so nothing that would warrant a bounty) just to get to the "Outsider" mission. I've also been moving from system to system to help spread it out. Unfortunately, some sadistic individual at Frontier thought it would be funny to decrease your rep by twice the value you would have gained from a completed mission if you fail or discard said mission. That, and no factions have been giving out pirate-killing missions for me in the past two days. Apparently I have removed all evil from a 40 square LY area of space. Not really. It would be extremely helpful to have some sort of visual aid to your rep.

Edit: I did nothing but complete pirate-hunting missions for an entire weekend. That was about 20+ hours of killing scum, and I only got to Outsider.

- Fix for discovering and scanning new stellar bodies not always showing up on system map

As others have reported, this still doesn't work.

However, there is a workaround. When you arrive in a system the ship starts the "automatic discovery" scan to find the main star. So before you start Discovery scanner yourself, wait for "automatic discovery" to report: "Discovered 1 new astronomical object(s)". Then start Discovery scanner yourself and it will always find and show every other object. I have tested this with about 100 stars today. This workaround is faster than doing a double-scan.

TL;DR Wait for automatic "Discovered 1 new..." and then start Discovery scanner after that.

Not sure what you did, but I am getting 10fps more now, used to average around mid 40's nowhitting 55-60 most of the time on a geforce660

Still no fix for the .
Actually, no new fixes at all - only fixes for what they've broken in past updates.
An update to fix broken updates.

this patch has regressed behavior related to warping into a system causing a pause while the shaders are compiled. Probably the same for approaching planets in SC but i'm too busy killing petreus ships to test at the moment.

Edit: verified that pausing occurs as planets come into view again like before pre-cached shaders were introduced.

Did this patch mess with RES at all? Because i'm noticing new behaviour that's really annoying. After spending some time getting a RES to start spawning bigger ships, you engage, kill a few, and then they stop spawning and it's like the site reverts back to smaller spawns. The amount of cops around is astounding as well, at least when they're not ALL shooting at each other. What gives?

Still no fix for the ranks lost at the launch of 1.3.1.

Hi Commander,
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
We will be implementing a patch server side that should restore your rank to the rank you have earned over the recent period of time.
There has been an issue relating to reputation gains recently and the loss you suffered was part of a recovery process. Essentially all players have been experiencing accelerated rank progression over a recent period of time.
However it has been decided that it’s unfair to remove the progress you have made, so we will be resetting the ranks gained shortly. This patch will be on our side, so you should not notice any interruption to service, you’ll just notice your rank has been increased to its previous level.
We’re very sorry for any inconvenience and we hope this explains what’s been happening to your ranks recently.

Sorry, but I am still having this issue after the 1.307 update

mmmm, so now it enables it only if it detects an NVIDIA GPU?
Even if my GPU is an AMD, all stuttering in SC, near planets and stars, disappeared thanks to the precaching (and appeared in asteroids fields by the way, but that's another story...).
So now I hope those stuttering aren't there again, or I will have to manually change the AppConfig.xml to activate the precaching again...

Just an update to the precaching thing:

I tried the game with no Shader Warming, the new default setting for AMD GPUs, and all the usual stutterings were there. So I had to activate the SW manually in the Config file. After that the game ran smoothly.
So for AMD GPUs like mine (Sapphire R9 270X 2GB Toxic), Shader Warming is needed as before.

Fix the STUTTERING and the dang black/white/orange screen crashes and desktop crashes. My friends and I are getting tired of restarting our systems.

Hey ronin516, if you come across any bugs or issues be sure to post them on the Bug Discussions Section. We are aware of the stuttering issue but to be on the safe side regarding the crashes, please submit the Crash Dump report (which should appear after the crash) to use as this will aid with our investigation.

This really es me off to no end, Ticket was opened and closed with the comment "we know of the issue" but we cannot fix the rank loss or the promotions that you should have received, Now they say it a server side fix, This really states just how sad the state of the game is, i.e. it sounds like the FD organization has no clue to what each team is doing.!

They may have found the fix in the meantime, no?

That's because the pre-caching is disabled for your GPU. Just enable it in the Config, like this:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=163036&page=16&p=2509325&viewfull=1#post2509325

I have the same issue and solved it enabling pre-caching again.
