Pre-Build Ships

I like the idea of pre-build ships. It's also a good opportunity to support you guys. But the mining ship for example makes no sense. ARX is real money, so I expect something that works, but decent mining with only level 1 collector limpets makes no sense. There is just no way to configure this ship. And actually, for 25k ARX I would expect a decent and functioning ship. Same for some other ships, that offer thruster 4e - why? Again, we are talking real money here.

So, great idea, but the execution is lacking. I would not mind buying special packages occasionally, but please improve the offer slightly.

Buy the T8. It looks like a ship that you will be happy with
I did and I like it. But that is not my point. If we buy ships through ARX, they should be better, it’s all I am saying. Especially under the condition that you can’t switch any module from pre-build ships, bought with real money. There are some good ideas in there - Diamondback for example - but the execution is not really well thought through. And as mentioned in other posts, every ship should have two 1 modules for docking and planetary approach. I mean it’s 2024 now, I have been docking manually since 1984. It’s just a waste of time if you have to do that ten or twenty times per session, not a challenge. And in modern planes we also find auto landing etc.

You can always sell the modules you don't like and fit better versions with the pre-builts. In fact that's what I did first with both the Python II and the T-8, which also came with E rated crap like any other ship (Stellars are better). They could possibly fit better modules from the start, but then, it's not P2W, but a jump start in the first place and I guess the miner can still do mining. In any case, you're not stuck with a certain configuration, that might be a misunderstanding. And the Docker is very controversial in itself and has been the subject of several Open Letters in the past, I presume many players don't want it or regard it as a waste of slots (while having fitted Advanced Dockers on each and every of my ships except the AX and PvP builds, that is). Docker's horrible space and energy requirements are another issue, but as I understand it, that's for gameplay reasons. In the original Elite of 1984, getting to buy a docking computer was a major achievement, and they still use the same PDP-10s or something it seems. YMMV.

O7,

I totally agree with you when we talk in-game credits. But ARX - my thought process is that Frontier would like to create an additional income stream. My suggestion is, to improve the offer so to increase potential income. And I don’t understand the point whether having one extra rank 1 module slot is such a big issue. You don’t have to install it if you don’t want it. Your reference to 84 is correct though, however, after decades we could be a bit more flexible.

No, this thread is about the pre built variants of existing ships and not the early access for new ones.
Mea Culpa. Still can't be anything wrong with just paying for a fully upgraded ship right? I'm sure there'll be lots of people that will say playing the game is just an option, you shouldn't have be forced to do it.

They are called Jumpstart Ships... which imo is a form of early access.
You are a new player and you pay for a ship to jumpstart your career in mining (in this case) - skipping the necessary steps required to build your own in the game.

It's a perfect build?
Nope, but it's a build that can help you get a start in mining.
You get a pair of modified mining lasers, skipping the unlock (that means skipping getting the permit for the system and the materials you need to pay for each of them) plus some A rated modules, saving you the credits you most probably dont have as a new player.
However, if you are knowledgeable enough there is no point to buy that ship, you should build your own

It seems to me that what you want to buy is literally p2w meta ships, with perfect builds, perfect engineering... and 0 rebuy...

True, though likewise you're mainly paying for other stuff with those.

- Alliance Chieftain AX jumpstart = 25500
consisting of
- Stygian Green paint = 10000
- 12 piece ship kit = 14100
so left over for the actual prebuild is 1400 ARX

- Vulture bounty jumpstart = 25500
consisting of
- Crossfire Green paint = 5000
- 16 piece ship kit = 16800
so left over for the actual prebuild is 3700 ARX

They vary a little (and of course you could say there's some discount for buying the set) but the actual prebuilds are certainly the minority component of the price.

That’s a fair point. i did not look at it from this perspective.
