Pre Warp Life / post warp life discovery

Greetings everyone,

I'll start by saying, I love this game/sim, and i look forward to all the content that has to follow in the Beyond series update, but I think FDev is missing a potential that would raise the steaks of the game , far beyond anything the competition might develop (NMS) being the main contender i think.

I love to explore, but there are so many things in exploration that are "missing".

The list:
Searching for ELW's , what about LIFE! ( We have a great deal of information in this century as to "How" life begins, and, based of future thinking, why can we NOT find life on other worlds.....) even if we only find basic life, it would add a depth the exploring part of the game, and add value to the countless hours we take exploring the galaxy.

Navigation:
This is a big bug bear for me, we have all this technology at our disposal, we can travel vast distances around our galaxy, yet, we cannot decide anything for ourselves when we reach a target area, for instance, why oh why is "waypoint" navigation NOT a basic of the whole navigation system, surely a module could be purchased for explorers that enables them to point and click say 10 target systems in any given region with colour differences to highlight "visited" systems, maybe even allow for engineered modules to increase the 10 slot system, to allow for 20 pre selected stars at a time.
Also, NO "First discovered by" notice unless the whole system has been scanned, with the exception of asteroid belts, I say that because unless Fdev place a value of their discovery, then they should not be included.

Scanner Modification
This is absolutely PANTS at the moment, i don't know what the Big deal will be in 4th quarter update, it's supposed to be for exploration, my hope is that the whole thing is rehashed to incorporate decent, specialist scanning equipment to give value to the time commanders dedicate to exploring, and i'm not just talking about credits, i'm talking about the infinite possibilities that are out there, and in our own imagination, it could be just AWESOME!

I think i'm about done here, I hope you all understand what I am saying, Peace out
MajorM3ss, signing off, o7!

Yeah, I understand you. I´m an explorer too, finding joy in traveling long distances in uncharted areas. mapping and discovery things. I think that the narrative will benefit HUGELY by having more and heterogeneous information on systems we discover and scan. ELW for sure need more in-depth information in regard possible faunas and floras ecosystem. WW, being terrestrial or not, also could have huge faunas ecosystem, beside obvious aquatic floras; Both could host pre-industrial civilizations, or primordial, simpler biology.
I´m eager to see what the codex appear to be. I really hope and will stress that it already must contain all the information we already gathered, or it will left an huge blank spot area - cause we cannot rediscovered things! ;) - and hopefully it will come with extended scanning equipment and mechanics, which allow us to find and gather more information.

I would love also system summaries - orbital mockups (kind of orrery), reports, etc...

I´m not sure I understood what you mean for your navigation improvement suggestion: does it means we can select a sequence of, say, 10 systems, by which we could trace a route to? That´s obviously something really missing and, I agree with you, a civilization so advanced which could telepresence from the very far side of the galaxy to fight someone else which do not have more advanced and customizable navigation solution seems quite a joke but, you know... human beings as a specie spend the most of their time and resources fighting each other (now we also have another specie to fight, so... $$$). Science and knowledge are newer priorities. If it was like that for the last 10 thousands years - as far as we know, probably a lot more than that... - which reasons we have to hope that it will change in the next millennia?

I would love to see some serious improvement in the outfit section, too. I really consider that ships should be able to be modified to the extent that, say, a 5 class slot be converted to two 2 class slots. Or a 3 class slot to two 1 class slots. Or - why not? - being able to merge two 5 class slots for a 6 class slot results, or kind of, of course for an huge fee. I´m talking about optional slots, of course. This should enable more fine-grained outfitting, in special for explorer or multipurpose ships, but really all kind of ships could benefits from this. And it will give us more fun and meaning in have more of a kind of ships, each one really outfitted for our special and very own vision of the "right tool for the right job". I always loved Type-7, for example: they are really great ships to fly with. They got a very good buff recently, which opened much more options to outfit them. Being able to experience the same refreshing experience on my beloved Orca´s will be awesome.

Well, that´s some really interesting to talk about. I also feel the current "First discovered by" system so plain... I would prefer a "First visited by" tag, on the system as a whole (like we have in EDSM, which is great!), so even if you do not scan any body - rarely happens in case of explorers, but... - you receive credits of being the one which first entered the system. This way, you can continue to have the current " First discovery" on bodies. Have to scan ALL the system for such is not something I will support: I see what´s your point, but I usually like to left some bodies for fellows explorers when I find very interesting systems, so they too can left their footprints on. In the same way, if I reach a very difficult-to-reach system and find that someone already discovered it, I feel very grateful if there is at least some moons to scan. But, yes, I think that we should contribute with FD in an open talk in regard that specific topic and see which ideas the majorities likes more, and which ideas FD feel that can be implemented in some way. O7!

That is exactly what I mean, to be able to utilise the auto route plotter as is in game now, but when you get to the destination, you can , for arguments sake, hand select say 10, or even 20 stars/systems that are within range of the previous destination, and as you explore, the galaxy map shows you in real time, where you have been, my suggestion is to change the colour of the system name in the galaxy map.

You have also made some very interesting points commander, perhaps more challenging than the ones i have proposed, module manipulation is something i looked at a few months ago, but came to a realisation, FDev would probably consider it to complex or messy..... but I think it is still something to work on.
Thanks for your input, you have raised some valuable points, peace out cmdr, o7!
