I'm in the alpha so I have zero jealousy, zero vanity and zero self entitlement... and I too believe the two weeks thing is a joke considering Michael's comment of the delay for betans being probably a "matter of hours". Either FD are frantically scrounging for the last few Alpha upgrades or... well, I don't know what else!

If they have to do the "showstopper check" with Alphoids before giving it to Betans then so be it. But give it to the Betans as soon as it's evident there are no showstoppers, or as soon as it's fixed if there is one. And even then if something goes wrong they are, you know, beta TESTERS, they can deal with it as we have for months.

If you preordered, your delivery date is 2014. If you backed before shop, then you still backed (despite being not in KS) - in PayPal it was formalized as donation to FD. But it is all semantics as you said, because I don't believe beta pledge included any claims of exclusivity.

That said, 2 week window needs clarification because if Michael was mistaken, he should say so. I can fully agree on that.

It's not semantics at all. It's an important difference. Also, as far as upgrading goes, dates were never stated in the web store were they?

As an alphan, I would be disappointed if Frontier held the build back if there are no showstopping bugs. I hope this is just a miscommunication, because I (and I suspect most alphans) are looking forward to the betans getting in the game.

There is no desire on their part to insult, hurt or frustrate you.

DLL Missing...

Hi,

I've just installed the updated Launcher, installed Elite Dangerous but when selecting 'Play' I get a missing DLL Error.

XINPUT1_3.dll

I'll see if I can debug, any other people getting this with the new Premium Beta?

It's easy to say when you're Alpha and above! ;)

Anyway, Michael cleared it up - betans won't have to wait 2 weeks while the alphoids play new builds. Good news. :smilie:

Still not answered the original question.

Write an easily understood Statement, it is not hard see example below.

1. Alpha Backers will run the first Premium Beta build for two weeks to check for problems before full release.

2. Premium Beta Backers get Premium Beta build on 30th May.

3. Subsequent Beta Builds will have a quick check by Alpha backers (a couple of hours as previously stated) to check for show stoppers and Beta Backers get it as soon as ready.


Three straight forward statements to remove all ambiguity that is currently there due to contradictory statements.

Left hand not knowing what right hand is doing comes to mind.

I rather hoped so, but some recent posts do make me wonder.

I also remain confused as exactly what's going to happen, and therefore politely request a clear statement on the subject of when prem and std beta backers will get access.
  • Is the 30th May the date that beta backers get access, or the date alphans get access to the first beta build?
  • Will the alphan access to beta builds be a matter of hours, or two weeks.

Again it is no good looking at individual posts stating two different answers to different queries that cause contradiction, it needs a concise post listing the whole process as per my example.
