lol. The road to becoming Elite is truly filled with challenges. You have mastered this first quest. Next the challenge of graphics options and controller settings awaits you.

Pretty excited right about now, like a 12 yr old...not a 42 yr old! ;)
It's 1984 all over again man!!

Hi Mark. Thanks for the update! Just out of curiosity, can we get a version of this image with an arrow pointing to the Sol System that reads "You Are Here"? I understand that first round beta probably wont include there terrain system, but I'd love to know what side of the tracks we'll be playing on mostly. :)

We are in the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral Arm. Earth will soon be demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass...

...or will it? ;)

TrackIR doesn't seem to be working properly. All movements are inverted. Front is back, left is right, down is up. And my "head" doesn't stay in the cockpit.

IT does not work for me at all. I use the TRack4 with the latest software. You got the TrackIR5? I have no problem in any other game with it...

Will standard beta backers be getting access to the singleplayer build at some point? The OP is just the tiniest bit vague and I saw nothing new when I checked my downloadable products page.

I believe Michael said "we'll see"?
I would imagine so, myself but I've been labeled an optimist fanboi so /shrug

if we do i'd wager it will be within a month to 6 weeks of the release of 2nd beta, just to be consistent.

Not for awhile, they will announce the details at later date, but as we're getting close to premium beta starting in 6 or so weeks I wouldn't expect anything to do with standard until around that time with regards to the single player missions (I could be wrong, just keep an eye for news).

We won't be able to visit it.

Just the systems in a 200 cubic ly.

That's about 6 LY a side.

About the size of an FFE/Frontier sector.

I estimate no more than say 30 systems?

Far less I'm afraid. If you put the sun in a box of that size there would be no other systems at all. In a denser part of the galaxy you might get 3-4.

Cheers,

Drew.

Of course the volume need not occupy a cube or a sphere and may be a corridor of some form.

Two hundred years light is comfortable, to master the multiple hyperspace jumps ,in a single journey

;)

Why have you diagrams of me trying to dock FAoff on your sig ;)

Find it damn near impossible to fly with mouse and keyboard.. you just turn so damn slow with a mouse....

You need to move it further. :p

You get used to mouse and keyboard. You have to if you don't have a joystick. I actually quite like it now and I think I fly OK (check out some of the later videos from my sig).

Hi everyone, thanks for your queries!

Where exactly can I download the Beta? I purchased the alpha a while ago and I have only the option to download the alpha, not the beta on the store.zaonce portal page.

Alpha players will not have any awaiting download for this as Alpha players already have access to single player scenarios.

Although the galaxy shown is concept art, it gives you a good idea of how the in-game generated galaxy is going to look and it's mentioned as being in alpha 4.

So in alpha 4 we get to play around with the full galaxy map ?

Will be be able to get the system map up to check out other star systems [ outside of the alpha systems ] in that map ?

I know that we get to explore a small cube of systems in the alpha, but it will still be interesting and fun to play around with the map

Seeing that piece of art is really wetting the appetite.

Details released on Alpha 4 so far are on the first page of this thread or you can read about it here - http://www.frontier.co.uk/news/latest/?artid=416&pageNum=0&blk=12

Will second-round beta players get access to the single player combat (alpha 1.2) build at some future stage? I'm not yet ready to play, so won't be spending the mere extra £15 to upgrade to premium beta, but when second-round beta starts later this year I'd appreciate going through the same process as the alpha backers did to learn to fly in that build rather than starting in the deep end.

We have no information on this at the moment.

A beta FAQ can be found here which may be useful to some - http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=14562
