Preshows

Rlly don't know if this has been suggested before. I haven't found anything on it.😄

My basic idea is that you get a special path plaza type or ride footprint with an entrance and exit that can be connected to a queue where guests stay in an open space for a while and stand still, react curious and excited every few seconds for as many seconds as you like. Then you can theme a room around it to whatever you want for your preshow. Screens, animatronics, special effects, audio you name it. Preshows are a big part of storytelling at themeparks,so I would love to have them in Planet Coaster 2.🤩

This is a great idea. The rides I've been on that had special interactive theming in the queue line before getting to the ride really did add to the immersion and made the experience that much better. Two from Kings Island from when it was under Paramount's umbrella were Outer Limits Flight of Fear rollercoaster (now Flight of Fear) and Tomb Raider (topspin that's been removed) When flight of fear opened there were videos playing that really told the story of the whole theme, even including video feed of us riders waiting in line at one point. Tomb raider had a video followed by a laser light display that would create designs on the door separating the queue from the ride which led it to open up so you could move on into the ride room. The topspin ride was completely indoors and they had theming elements on the walls, the floor, and the ceiling during it. These kinds of things during the queue really increased the joy and made you forget about waiting since they preoccupy your attention. Much better than just standing in a line in anticipation. :)

I think that this idea is too difficult to add compared to the visible ingame effect...

I would prefer to have shows in general.
Maybe just a black box in different sizes (capacity) and a genre selection and without queue line.
Peeps may have a preference for a show genre like for rides.

I somewhat agree with the above, it’ll likely be too difficult to implement preshows as a fully thought out triggered event specifically for queuelines…but adding to what Levicoaster said, they could always make it so Display Sequencer events have a positive effect on people waiting in a queue. That way you can just create your own preshow that happens on a loop with an interval in between (Spookslot at Efteling was a good example of this) :)

I'd love preshows in Planco2.
I don't like the black box option though, (sorry rct-uwe1) as that was the main player gripe with the restaurants and hotels in Planco.

I'd like 2 options for preshows in the new game.

1: various pre-made blueprints in various sizes that you just plop down within your ride queues. These have a certain guest capacity depending on size and play a premade sequence of scenery animations, music and effects. When the sequence has played through, the guests then move onto the next part of the queue or ride and the next batch of guests enter.

2: A fully customizable option.
You place down tiles like the gift shop extension tiles in Planet Zoo which determines size and guest capacity. You then define an entry and exit point with the queue path. You can then build your preshows scene with all the scenery.
Then you can trigger a sequence with a sequencer with hopefully a timeline similar to the RCT3 mixmaster (something easy to use). You could make a sequence with video screens, animatronics, lights, music, effects.
You could even have scenery doors that open and close at the start and end of the sequence to separate the pre show from the rest of the queue.

Like the premade preshows, the guests enter, watch the preshows until the sequence finishes and then move on before the next bunch of guests enter.

Both options would be great and could have a rating that adds to the ride rating that they're attached to.
.

But how would you set it up compared to the ride time? You would need to secure the right peep troughput.
What about a "pre show" illusion that just covers the queue line in front of the station where peeps are waiting to enter the station? You could create a loop or synchronise it with ride cars starts.

Maybe they can create something for shows or pre shows out of the animal introduction "show" in PZ...

Managing the time of the preshows and ride dispatches and timings could be something you'd have to think about when designing it.
Maybe the duration of your preshows could automatically determine your ride dispatches. This would make you think about how you design it as it would affect throughput and income.
Your idea of a preshows illusion would be a great option for players who don't want to get bogged down in the nitty-gritty of designing it all.

I would think it could be managed with a custom queue, or queue plaza piece. Like when guests hit that piece there is a stall, for how ever many minutes before they move on. When its filled, the guests just wait in the queue as normal. almost like how they stage on the loading platforms.
