Hi there Commanders.
I succumbed to the temptation of premium beta a few days ago. It was totally worth every penny. I am really enjoing super cruise mechanic. I LOVE it in fact. Its better than just press button get to pirate interdiction/target. The mechanic introduces a skill component and once they add fuel to game i can see it expanding the scope of this area of the game. In frontier you accelerated time to get to your destination, But if you left it to the on board computer it was un-economical both in time and fuel. So by understanding your ship you could make a fast travel to you destination by accelerating to cruising speed, turning off the engine coasting in, the doing a last minute suicide burn to match orbital velocities. Once you where at crusing speed no more fuel was been used, you would spend longer at this speed than the on board computer reducing your flight time. With dangerous you have a similiar skill acquisition. You can go with a very safe flight making sure you don't over shoot. Or be more daring go a little faster and reduce you speed by going hyperbolistic.
Im using an X Box controller at the momment and its been a real boon it feels very well thought out and gives me so much control, well it will when i get the skill set. My landings are more boarding actions than docking at the momment. I did try a saitek Hotas X but i missed thrust controls and found myself still using the controller for docking! The Hotas X had to go back, better start saving my pennies for an x52 pro or x 55.
Ive had some funny moments, there is a poor larken pilot who has a sidewinder shapped dent.. oops. I'm sorry! i was trying to find in the menus retract the undercarriage. looked up. Bang...
Oh and that stealth dreadnaught. Happily flying around looking for things to shoot, then crunch the dreadnaught appears after i've flown into it. I assume the stealth asteroids are a nod at the Timothy Zahn star wars novels where grand Admiral Thrawn uses them to interdict a planet. I bet some evil programmer in the bowls of your cambridge dungeon is laughing so hard his chains are rattling with his funny stealth Station, disappearing just as im about to pass through the air lock.
I'm excited and eager to see things progress. This game is meant to be hard this is a skill based game. If its easy there is no real reward.

What happens when your ION drives are fragged and your FTL has spun to zero?
